CAN'T CHANGE THE DESIGN FUCKERS
Shit is probably gonna be bugged as hell though.
Is there no friggin way to get rid of the music while the game updates? Shit even when it's minimized I hear the damn Gridania theme. And no I shouldn't have to turn my speakers off.
Game seems like it's in the right direction, though I'm waiting for a UI that doesn't suck donkey balls
At least we know its on its way.
It has nothing to do with appearance. Random to not random is a tweak of the code, and everyone saw that coming a mile away based on the overwhelming amount of backlash from essentially restricting a player's level progress to that of a RNG system. A brand new UI for keyboard users, and the choice to pick between a keyboard-friendly (read: every current mainstream PC-onry MMO) UI or a traditional pad controller (read: every FF to date) UI is a design change, and one that was not widely thought possible, given SE's "amazing" track record of supporting PC players of any of their games, and one that was never hinted at or widely speculated at until post-release. You obviously never understood what I meant by a design change.
You'd better go back to OB posts if you seriously thought that nobody assumed that SE would eventually dump the RNG system for SP. The only thing that was truly debatable was when; it was never a matter of if.
Oh, quite a few people did. "Can't fix design", that's what they mumbled.
"It was a design decision, not a bug".
Of course when "changing design" doesn't mean "how much impact it has on the game", and instead "how much work it takes to implement", things change.
Although that is seriously a hilarious way to look at it.
Was sticking it out for this update, really pleased with ui changes....BUT,
anything good is completely overshadowed by sp nerf from what we were getting in parties. Before this, we had a fun time every night getting familiar faces into a raptor pt and loving our sp gains. It was some semblance of fun...
Now, our pt broke after 40 mins of futile experimentation trying to find a mob or pt size where sp was REMOTELY close to what we got before....and all my LS and FL buddies (who have been sticking with this game in spite of everything for soooo long) logged within 2hrs. We expected even more fun grouping because we thought the leveling experience would be easier and more fun together after patch....
No. Terrible: bad, slow, longer, frustrating, repetitive, and NOW WITH EVEN LESS sp/hr gained. Oh, and now instead of having social fun as a group, u get to drop pt and go solo some stupid cobblyns.
I was wary of having to pay before update, I'm not even going to log on until/if SE announces a huuuuge sp overhaul....like tomorrow.
Sounds like they just need to enable the bonus for groups again.
I don't really care what "other people" did. I'm talking about you and me. If someone else said it, then yeah, rub it in their face.
The only design decisions I mentioned were the UI and the server ping-pong decisions. One I was wrong with, as they're working on rightfully giving PC players a PC-oriented UI, and time will tell with the other, although I doubt it'll change if they keep refining the system and the subs go back up around PS3 launch.
@Lyth: You'd really save yourself a lot of late-night grief and anxiety if you'd just watch the updates with a semi-discerning eye from a distance and just wait till PS3 launch when most all of this shit will will either be fixed or cemented as "core philosophies".
It makes the topsy-turvy ride a bit more bearable.
