Well in this case it's a blatant double-standard... when Bill Clinton was caught cigar-fucking Monica Lewinsky people wanted transparency because he was a political figure (and the President, at that). When guys in office (Congress or Senate, even Mayors) are caught with scandalous shit they don't make much excuse other than the standard denial followed by admission and asking for forgiveness (and the subsequent request for transparency from the media).
