Or cut taxes and GET OUT OF THE WAY and let companies do what they want. This will increase tax revenue (as shown in the Bush years) because more employees equals more income tax.

The Bush years were a great step forward in further concentrating wealth into fewer hands.

Maybe more people were working, but the buying power of the middle and lower classes certainly didn't improve, and thus it's hard to say that the economic situation actually improved.

No number of repeats is going to make economic policy based on the principle of trickle-down viable, not now, not ever. Human nature's a bitch.

I say tax the unholy fuck out of the rich, they're heavily dependent on the huge part of the pyramid of society beneath them to maintain their lifestyle, and take it for granted. If they want the system to work and continue to protect their quality of life, they need to do the same in turn. Since they will never do so willingly in great enough numbers, the government is going to have to do it for them.

And my own income is high enough that I'm sure I'd be negatively impacted by a such a policy, but if it improves the quality of education and the general quality of life for people in this country (and thus makes it easier to take my standard of living for granted) I'm okay with that.

Really, the most important cut we need to make is to military spending, but that will never happen. Rattling a sword that's proportional to everyone else's is nowhere near as much fun as having a claymore to your neighbor's toothpick.
