There is no Starbucks in Kentucky
Where did America's crazy anti-tax ideology stem from?
I am just saying I have sampled nectars from a red-state Starbucks and they are simply not up to the douchometer of blue-state Starbucks
Do liberals think that cutting military spending will solve our debt problem? So you cut military spending and other spending keeps going up, what then?
And I thought this whole raise taxes on the rich = more tax receipts thing has been debunked.
lol
It's funny because the Russian revolutionaries tried to justify their stupid ideas by saying it was science.
I'm not an economics genius, but I've seen three studies on tax rates vs. government spending, and every time tax rates have increased government spending has decreased. People pay more attention to what's going on in the government when they are paying more out of their pockets to keep it going, so the government is more careful with what they do with the money so they don't get voted out.
Just sayin'
The numbers they gave were:
'81-'92: federal revenues fell by 2% of GDP, spending rose by .6% of GDP
'92-'00: federal revenues rose by 1.8% of GDP, spending fell by 2.4% of GDP (1.5% if you leave out interest spending)
'00-'04: revenues fell by 3.5%, spending rose 1.4% (2.3% if you leave out interest, and they specified that only half of that is defense/homeland security spending)
When taxes rise, political awareness rises. If that's what it takes for people to fucking pay attention to what their elected officials are doing with their money, hurray I guess.
None of this matters, we pretty much have a recession once every 10 years anyway.
