Yeah.. I need a decent headset too.
Yeah.. I need a decent headset too.
Thanks for the tip, might hafta look into this a bit. Only thing kinda negative with this is still having to deal with cords around my neck lol. I have a wired Razer headset for my Mac atm, which is pretty nice, but i want to consolidate into one headset for everything (the cord on that headset is ridiculously long and annoying). Was hoping there might be a brand I've never heard of that offered a wireless universal gaming headset. I found a headset in Best Buys PC area that said it was PS3/Xbox compatible, but said nothing about being mac/PC compatible, which threw me off because it was in the PC isle nowhere near their console headsets. Got my hopes up. XD
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/gaming...s/devices/7362 <--- the headset in question. Might just buy it anyways for PS3/Xbox and stick with my razer for my Mac, but then i cant play games on my bed far from my computer, Mac is hooked up to my 42 inch LCD as secondary monitor. /rant
*edit* also slightly concerned about sound quality on the F540's whether they are surround sound or not, or how good the sound quality is. Assuming no surround sound since it doesn't say otherwise.
"Surround sound" headsets are a joke. A good (i.e., not onboard and not Creative Labs) soundcard with good stereo cans can produce better 3-D emulation than "surround" headsets. You only have 2 sound holes in your head, anyway. All directionality is produced by your brain based on cues, not from actually sensing which direction it's coming from.
A bit of a necro but didn't think it deserved another topic.
I've been looking to get a christmas present for myself in the form of a gaming headset. Looking at...
Turtle Beach PX21
I need something to use for both PS3 and Xbox and this seems like a logical choice. I was curious if anyone has used this model for BOTH systems and what the upside/downside is?
Edit: Well that link shows both p21 and the px21. I'm wanting a px21
i came to make almost the same post as Devolver but for the Logitech F540s. basically i want 1 headset that will work for both consoles & pc. i've confirmed that the F540s can, and between birthday gift cards & a friend's discount i can get them for $49... anyone have any experience with them? sorry for adding to all the hijacking.
Are you 100% positive they work with PC? The website and box says Xbox and PS3... nothing about PC. If you can confirm this, I know exactly what the fuck I'm buying myself for christmas. lol
*edit for clarification* and when I say "work" with PC, I mean can I use the microphone and voice chat, not just hear sound.
*double edit* Copy Pasta from Logitechs website.
"Connecting through PS3 USB
If you don't have a Sony PS3 connected to your F540, you can use the PS3 Mini-USB voice cable to connect your F540 to your PC for both audio and microphone functionality.
With this setup, you won't be able to use the PS3's voice functionality with this setup. You'll have to select the F540 as a USB audio device for input and output within your operating system.
NOTE: Since the F540 is not designed as a USB audio device for PCs, not all system-based functions may work correctly."
FUCKING AMEN, I CAN USE THIS FOR ALL MY GAMING NEEDS. THANK YOU REZN0R!!!
no problem, i'm gonna go for them too. if you hadn't have found that note i was going to say a tech blog review i read had the author saying he used them on the pc, and then kept pointing out the best part about them was 1 headset 3 systems.
I have the logitech g930 wireless gaming headset. They are very good.
necro/olde/whatever
Xfaustx, i got them tonight and they are kickin ass. i've only really listened to a few mp3s with them, but they are working with my 360 & pc perfectly with minimal setup, and i'm sure they'd work fine with the PS3 too... and wow i was struggling to get the mic to work with the pc by ordering a 2.5m to 3.5mm m/m cable but apparently your god damn post above - 10 days ago - already quoted how to get it to work (use the ps3 cable with the pc). i feel dumb. either way i give these a seal of approval.
Orden, those look really awesome too. the multi-system support on these is what made me go with them, but the g930s look pretty great also
