These probably my favorite 2 FFXI battle themes that's NOT a boss theme. Battle Themes and Boss Themes are on 2 different levels to me.

These are my top Battle Themes for FFXI that I can remember. They're both equal to me.

I need to go listen to FFIX OST, since I've still yet to play it, even though I have it downloaded on PSN .-.

I've been replaying XII, and I forgot how good some of the music is. A few of my favorites:

Near the Water (this plays in the Hunter's Camp and Estersand Village)

Time For a Rest (this plays in the two cloisters where you get the Dawn Shard and Sword of Kings)

Phon Coast

Esper Summon (I almost never hear this since I don't use Espers really, but it's still epic)

The Mana Temple from "Final Fantasy Adventure" for Gameboy. It was remade later with the title "Sword of Mana." Of all the FF tunes this one sticks in my head and is the most nostalgic.

Also, I am not sure who this guy is but his remixes are awesome!

Was PSP not DS, but agree good battle theme! It's the only FF in the entire series I can't seem to bare to play though, I bought the remakes of #1 and #2 for PSP and played/loved #1, but when I went to play #2, the whole levelling system was ugh and I never went back to it

Mount Gagazet was probably one of the more memorable themes for me from X, also I think IX had the best World Map theme out of all the different map themes used in the PSX and SNES games.
