The perfect ending for a shitty plot.
The perfect ending for a shitty plot.
There really should be a two rating review system: "is this a well made game?" And "is this the game people wanted?" The last question would be more meta and take into account the current gaming trends. For example, the Call of Duties are certainly well made and fun games. But some people take issue with the fact that it comes out every year and is the umpteenth fps that shares similar characteristics.
How many people honestly trust main stream game reviews? I mean seriously, reading these reviews it's clear half of the people reviewing the game have no idea what an action game even is, never mind what DMC is about.
It's late in the game but watch this for the dialogue. WHY @ the beginning.
Spoiler: show
lol
Review sounds like a fucking commercial lol.
I actually trust them more than your average internet guy's review simply because they mostly focus on objective points such as graphics, sound, gameplay and controls.
User reviews tend to blow insignificant details out of proportions ("OH NO IT'S NOT AN EXACT COPY OF FFVII SO THIS IS A 2/10 GAME") so I stay the hell away from those.
Doesn't change the fact that DmC is a shitty game, though.
>Mainstream review
>Objective
Just out if curiosity, if that's the mainstream, is there a counter culture video game reviewer website? Like, one that people trust?
DSP has some 'legit' reviews. I cut him some slack because he actually plays the whole godamn game. Then gives you a long-winded explanation of the good and bad. I do a bit of research, check out videos and so on. Ever since I bought a PS3 I've never been burned. When I saw Demon's Souls I knew I was going to like it, same for DkS. Anyway, assigning a numerical value doesn't make much sense to me.
I haven't played the demo, but I'm a little bitter because I didn't like DMC4. I absolutely loved DMC3 and its complex combo system and how difficult it was. This one I'm not too excited, don't care if it gets '10s' across the board.
Giantbomb gave it a 5/5
I honestly can see why people would find a dumbed down combat system more accessible and potentially enjoyable. What I don't understand is the reviews praising the writing and dialogue after the clips we've seen have been just awful.
Well, the clips we've seen posted in this thread. And quite a few people in this thread have decided a long time ago that they will hate this game forever. What we need is more level headed people playing the game and telling us what they think.
The gameplay looks fun and the graphics are neat and after watching the video of dante being naked, I got over the change in appearance. But the dialogue is so bad. The cussing seems crazy forced and the pissing contest was gouge my eyes out. I'll probably pick up a used copy so I don't give NT any money but get to enjoy the game for what it's worth.
Except there's at least 1 review from a well-known source that says the story/writing are the worst parts. It's interesting to watch everywhere else ignore the fact that there's dialogue that consists of, "FUCK YOU." "FUCK YOOOOOOOOOOU!" repeat ad nauseum. Perhaps that's just the state of the industry and what people find funny, though.
Edit: Is it sad that I'm waiting for reviewers everywhere to bash Metal Gear Rising for having a poor story when they completely ignore/praise what NT has done here?
