For the red knights I'd just Demon Pull x2 and Trinity Smash, Pull again and repeat.

I know it was said before, but that's the problem with color coding the enemies, especially the reds. Can't combo them in the air anywhere near as angelic weapons so you're forced to repeat the same ol' ground combo.

The only reason I used fists was to not get bored fighting red enemies.

    This.
Well, and to get more style points, lol.

And does anyone think that the huge rat mobs are dumb and make no sense? I feel like every enemy in the game has some sort of tell or gimmick to them, but those always seem to break my style meter with random slash attacks that have no visible hit box. The red ones were the worst because you couldn't lock them down with Aquilos.

Overrall, I enjoyed the game a lot. I'll probably try to squeeze another play through in before MGR drops. I hope the Vergil DLC is worth it though. And he better be playable in Bloody Palace..

Overall game was ok. Giant rat things were an annoyance for the very reason you described, but I would just repeat Trinity smash on red while locking blue down with round trip. I'd keep using RT till after it stopped raging and go in with the scythe.

I found you really never had to change weapons mid combo for any real style boost. Once you did a demon evade and Trinity'd something you shot to an automatic S, with a SSS shortly afterwards.

Giant rats are annoying, pretty much because they're no fun to fight between enraging and being colour coded. Along with those, the witches are pretty annoying sometimes too. I got half way through Son of Sparda mode before getting too bored to carry on (though they did make the game harder since then) but I'll probably try out the Vergil DLC to see what's up.

Overall, the only thing I like about this game was that it was good enough to scratch the action game itch that MGR gave me.

Witches are AWFUL, especially once you hit Son of Sparda or Dante Must Die. I hit a roadblock in DMD made up of 3 rats and a witch that's discouraged me from playing for a few days.

Lthis is the firat game in awhile that makes me want to replay it for the fun alone after beating it. Agree though, on son of sparda, the rats and witch combo spawns are the most annoying things ive fought in a long time.

The most recent patch has some interesting additions. Most notably the frame rate issues are completely gone on the PS3 version, for myself at least.

-Poison AI issue addressed (she no longer enters non-interactive state)
-Lessened damage and style boost from Demon Evade
-Arbiter "Drop" now causes damage and style gain even if jump-canceled
-Non-damaging moves no longer provide style points
-Damage done by weakest enemies increased
-Damage done by all enemies increased on Nephilim and Son of Sparda modes
-Adjusted attack (parry) windows for Rage spin move.
-SS and SSS will now decay back down to S if you stop gaining style
-No more eternal angel glide (where Dante flies around)

The dlc is out on pc for this. I have to say though, after playing MGR, coming back to this just makes this game 1000x worse. I don't like the way Vergil controls at all.

Eh, I honestly vastly prefer this game to MGR. I grabbed the Vergil DLC and took a break from Tomb Raider to give it a spin. Once you start unlocking some of his moves his play style opens up, but he's alot more restricted and not as free-flowing as Dante (which considering that was already a bit of a complaint with this game compared to the rest of the series, eh).

You can have fun with the fact that he can shoot and attack at the same time, but it wears out my hand after awhile spamming his swords while doing the normal combos.

Heard the dlc is pretty lackluster, also pretty short. Can anyone who has played it confirm a 1.5-2hr length? I'll probably wait for a steam sale to pick it up.

Took me about 2 and a half hours to beat it. Even when unlocking all his moves he just felt very stiff and restricted. I'd rather they just let me use Dante for the DLC which itself just recycled a bunch of areas and buildings from the main game. They even took some pointers from DMC 4 and made 2 of the 6 chapters the same damn level.

Definitely cannot agree that DmC is anywhere CLOSE to MGR, however, it is a perfectly decent action game. What DmC does better is environments (in terms of look/style), but objectively when it comes to game play MGR does everything so much better. The only thing that DmC has over MGR is probably length and due to that variety. If MGR had dedicated movesets for the sub weapons and a couple more levels with some set pieces (end of file 4 for example) it would definitely be leagues above any other game. You can blame the extremely short development time for those issues (as Bayonetta had none of them).

As for Vergil... weird. Maybe it'll take some getting used to because I fucking loved playing Vergil in DMC3. But I just started the DLC so lets see.

In the minority from the opinions I've seen on this forum but MGR just didn't do it for me. Beat it and called it a day, game just held nothing to make me want to keep playing.

DMC on the other hand hooked me enough to get thru Dante Must Die, and I'm eventually working my way up thru Hell and Hell
