Others have already explained the reasons for why you are seeing what you're seeing (RNG and pool of available classes from which to select for possible guild mark rewards). Searching for variables to explain away your bad luck is not going to magically make more guild mark rewards appear.
Until a pattern emerges (read: massive and controlled sample-size), it's random.
I like how a second ago you suggested it was random (a vague statement which technically could mean an infinite number of different things), and now you agree that there may be additional control variables, while at the same time saying I should stop looking for more variables. Amazing. Keep up the good work. It's only a matter of time before there's nothing left to research with people like you around to break down the doors.
Flip a coin. You will get either heads or tails. Now it's a six-sided dice. You throw it and it will show a number from one through six. Does this change the fact that the shit is random? No.
You are searching for something to dictate your results that doesn't exist. Would it make you happier if I said that God decides whether you receive marks or not?
Except in this specific case, regarding guild mark leves, there is no weight to the die. The more eligible classes you have, the higher chance you have of seeing guild marks.
Certainly the use of rigorous testing to prove or disprove a theory regarding the effect of variables on a given outcome can be valuable. But there was no theory, just someone complaining about not getting enough guild marks and searching for any kind of possible explanation as to why that might be, and when given the explanations, looking for additional ones that don't exist at this point in time (and I am fairly confident that no one will discover additional variables that affect leve rewards, like facing northwest during a waning half moon when the leve reset occurs).
I liker how OP asked for advice or a reason, everyone says RNG.. and now he is being a prick to everyone. lol glad i helped
This forum has potential to be a pretty solid forum for intelligent discussion.. except periodically the regulars appear to seek out opportunities to be jerks to each other. To all involved, let's keep it about the information and the game and less about the measuring.
Actually not everyone said RNG. RNG is the bullshit answer that means "I don't really know, there's obviously a random element involved to it, but there may or may not be more than that. I'm only here because I want to have a presence in this thread even though I have nothing useful to contribute" When you say that it all boils down to RNG, that provides 0 useful information, and you're better off not posting. What kind of idiot dosen't know that things are at least partially random?
While saying that something boils down to RNG technically means an infinite number of different things, usually it is taken to mean "there is a single dice roll that determines the ultimate result and there's nothing you can do to influence this dice roll".
It's statistically obvious from the posts in this thread that there is not a single dice roll that cannot be influenced, and if you think there is you should go actually try computing the probability of some of the events mentioned in the thread. But instead of people actually thinking about the results, everyone's just like "fuck it I don't know but I need to be present in this thread, so let's just say RNG because it's what all the cool kids do."
I do appreciate Archain's, Solracht's, and your own response earlier where you actually gave useful information other than "lolrng" though. Those were useful.
Like goodr said, this forum has potential. So if you're going to give a bullshit answer or you really don't know, do everyone a favor and shut up. And if you decide to defend your bullshit answer, don't be surprised if you get called on it.
Suprised no one has mentioned it but do u guys think it unfair that DoL only get 2 shots per city per rank after rank 20 while fighting classes get like 30 chances per rank?
Ex: Botanist leves u get 2 at uldah rank 20
2 at Grid at 30
2 at LL at 40
Fighting class u get 3-4 in every city at 20
Same @ 30
Same at 40
I wonder if that's the way SE intends to keep it.
Oh I'm sorry, you asked for opinions.. and having CON18 and THM10, I have gotten marks for both jobs randomly. Despite CON being much higher then THM i was still getting marks for THM, and i got more THM marks then CON. So i based it on RNG, as others have said. And I am wrong because I said it based on RNG? I mean sometimes during my 8 leve's I have gotten 0 Mark leve's, othertimes I have gotten 3/8, ect...
Is there a statistical way to determine whats going to drop from raid bosses in WoW, or what Fafnir/KB is gonna drop? It's based on RNG.
So your going to try and say everyone who said it was based on RNG is an idiot and didn't care to offer anything new? really?
Sounds like you think its RNG also and you came into this thread asking if its RNG or otherwise. So why is it that ppl who say its RNG are idiots? wut
Katlan.
We all know one of the elements is RNG. But obviously it is not *just* RNG. One factor we all agree on is the pool of eligible marks only includes jobs rank 10 or higher.
Loot in wow was absolutely RNG and there was nothing you could do to influence it. In recent expansions, the loot became less RNG and could be influenced by the ratios of particular classes in the raid. What bruiser was asking for was whether any other element could influence what rewarded marks. For some people to simply respond "random" or "rng" was not quite correct.
Let's just drop this bs and get back to the point of the thread. If there are observations or speculation about what may influence the rewarded guild marks, please share. Otherwise, keep the personal attacks out of it (everyone).

Is it possible to earn marks for the same class on more than one leve in the same area, per reset?
I am doing ~30 leves now, which means every city offers two ~30 areas each with three leves. PGL is my only 23+ class. I either get 1/3 marks for each area or no marks at all. Looking back to ~20 leves, I cannot recall ever receiving 2+ leves in the same area that awarded pugmarks. Different class marks, yes.
Pretty sure I saw GLA marks on 2 r20 leves when in limsa not too long ago.
Not sure if anyone mentioned, but last night I started a leve as the class that would get marks for completion, killed 1/3rd of the targets on that class, and then switched to a different class and finished out the rest on the second class. At completion I was rewarded 1/3rd the number of guild marks for the initial class; e.g. would of earned 1200 marks if I killed all the targets as GLA, but only received 400 marks.
I've done that a few times trying to get thaum marks then switching to conj to finish the job. The game records your job on every killshot and rewards you in kind. Not sure if it matters what job starts it. I've started leves on THM, switch to CONJ kill all mobs, switch back before node, and get rewarded 0 THM marks.
About the marks appearing, from my observation any job above 10 is put into the random marks pool for drawing. Distribution seems random in general. Once a job hits 23, they are presented with marks for 30 leves. I get tons of CONJ marks for 30 leves and I tend to just pick up THM marks on 20 leves but I still get a CONJ mark on 20 leves every now and then. I just check all 20'a and 30's at this point.
Honestly, it's still much better then DoH jobs. With DoH jobs there is no guarentee you will get rank 20 or 30 leves. The system randomly offers leves in each city for either 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, etc and even if you get a level 20 or higher leve....there is no way to determine if you get guild points for completion (since its hidden).
Well, at least it will be changed eventually for gathering classes.
I'm getting annoyed at no marks for my crafting classes... like 0/20 or so on Rank~20 leves. It was bad enough that my Fisher is like 3/9000 on guild mark rewards.
