Candidates Keep Distance From Sarah Palin on Campaign Trail
Former Alaska Governor Stumps for Candidates, Without the Candidates Themselves
Sarah Palin is hitting the campaign trail, going coast to coast to build support for her mama grizzlies and papa grizzlies. But there's one thing noticeably absent at her stump events -- the candidates themselves.
Palin made a three-day tour of California last week to rally Republicans, hopping from San Diego to Sacramento in a schedule packed with speeches and rallies. But neither Carly Fiorina, the GOP Senate candidate Palin endorsed, or gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman attended the events, citing scheduling conflicts.
Fiorina -- who credited Palin with giving her a much-needed boost in the primaries -- told "Fox News Sunday" that her campaign got word of Palin's trip "very late in the game" and "we had commitments to keep as well."
On Monday, Palin appeared in Nevada to kick off the Tea Party Express bus tour. The rally drew a sizeable crowd, but again, missing from the action was Sharron Angle, the GOP Senate candidate widely touted by Palin. The reason, Angle's campaign explained, is that the candidate cannot legally attend events by an organization running an independent expenditure in Nevada.
But that still doesn't mean Palin can't hold joint events with Angle.
Palin's "mama grizzlies" are not the only ones absent from her side. Even Alaska Senate candidate Joe Miller, whose primary victory was fuelled by Palin's endorsement and the Tea Party Express, hasn't campaigned once with Palin. And there was no sign of Texas Gov. Rick Perry when the former Alaska governor endorsed him in Houston earlier this month.

There's more if you click the link, but I found this humorous.
technically she's right that the constitution doesn't say church and state in those exact words, but she's still a fuckwit.
except she wasn't talking about the exact words, she was talking about the concept, which is pretty easy to see if you watch the debate. Her defense/spin that she was talking about the exact words is bullshit-- this is someone who is essentially undergoing a job interview and I'm not sure how well the "I was answering a different question" or the "I didn't understand the question" defenses would fly with a prospective employer.
I definitely think we're spending too much time on Christine O'Donnell considering she is not going to win. We should be looking at people like Ken Buck and Sharon Angle, who are in much tighter races and would probably drop more than a few points if they had the same level of media scrutiny that O'Donnell seems to have.
Please don't keep making me defend her cause I know she's an idiot. But watching the video she does keep saying "it says separation of church and state?" So, no I think she did think she was being clever. It would make sense as a teabagger to harp on the idea that it doesn't say it in those exact words. The reason she's an idiot is Coons started off explaining it correctly. If he had never said that phrase she wouldn't have anything to go off.
[edit] to clarify, that's only one of many reasons she is an idiot both in and outside that debate.
yeah it definitely looks like she was trying to catch Chris Coons in a mistake and ended up making herself looking even more foolish
edit: no seriously sharon angle
I guess it really says something about how much people hate Harry Reid that this woman has any traction at all, let alone be in a dead heat for the senate seat. I mean, she's fucking telling people that there are towns in the US that are under Sharia law. wtf?
If only Harry Reid has shifted more to the right, then he wouldn't be in this predicament.
Well, Native Americans (north, south, central whatever) are only 5000 years from being Asian - not really enough to distinguish a new "race" (in the colloquial usage) - and plenty of hispanics are predominantly Native Americans.
Also, Sharon Angle is a retard.
a bonus, that video led me to the teamcoco live cam
You know I wouldn't mind discussing this but I have a feeling if you don't side with "she is a fuckwit" you will get flamed to hell and back.
Not saying she isn't one but, I dunno she has a point? Or am I missing the point...
It depends on what she really meant, and only she knows what she really meant.
I was always thought the First Amendment was simply intended to protect religion. Anyone have that Jefferson letter?
The 1st amendment also says that Congress cannot make any laws regarding the establishment of a religion. This is interpreted to mean that the State cannot pass laws favouring any single religion.
There are a whole bunch of winners this year from the tea party. Do any californians know if Meg Whitman actually has a shot of becoming governor or has Jerry Brown pretty much got it locked up?
The hilarious thing is that 3rd party candidates in nevada and alaska might very well split off enough of the republican vote that a democrat could get elected. A democrat getting elected in Alaska over Sarah Palin's handpicked senate candidate Joe Miller simply because Lisa Murkowski was too butthurt to stay out of the election would be so, so delicious.
And in Nevada Scott Ashjian is running as the Nevada Tea Party candidate, apparently Angle was worried enough about his potential votes detracting from hers that she called him in to ask him to consider resigning, a conversation which he recorded and released to the media lol.
And then there's Ken Buck who said homosexuality was a choice because you can "choose who your partner is" and wants to get rid of the rape and incest exception for abortion.
it's like I said, this year is even crazier than 2008 which I didn't think was possible, and now I'm fairly certain that 2012 is going to be crazier still
Spin control and people who want a theocracy aside, the Republicans/Tea Party are fielding some real idiots this election season. Can someone please counter with an equally stupid democratic candidate?
I'd like the competition to feel more fair and less strictly divided along lines of intelligence this election season. It feels more and more every day that the Republican party is run/bankrolled by really rich individuals who say the right things to get stupid people to vote for them despite it being economically disadvantageous for said idiots. Now the idiots (or more likely a small group of dissatisfied rich people) have formed a "Tea Party" with the same basic game plan, except that they propose idiots who can relate to their constituents as candidates. I mean, I'm absolutely sure the Democrats have idiots in the senate, can someone please provide me with a senator or candidate that is Christine O'Donnell level stupid?
I felt better about politics when it was a Giant douche vs. a Turd Sandwich. The current Brains vs. The lack thereof just makes me nervous. What makes me most afraid is how many times we've elected the more-relatable but less useful candidate. I'll say right now that I would be entirely unsurprised if Christine O'Donnell got elected. Regardless of how unqualified she is, I think it could happen. We elected George Bush twice to be President. Anything is possible.
