After all, what was stopping them from actually touching you if they could touch objects? Seems like all the 'ghosts' in your story did was interact with objects or stand around menacingly. Everything is made of the same stuff (atoms and molecules), so what keeps ghosts from outright killing people if they want them gone so bad? Logic bitches. You can't tell me a 'ghost's' agenda is just to scare the living bejeezus out of people, that seems to be a pretty shitty reason for sticking around. "Oh man, another Monday morning of pushing stuff off countertops, I wonder if they'll get the hint this time" Yeah I don't think so. Or maybe they have a ghost rulebook that says they can do anything except interact with people directly? This is part of why I tend to think of ghosts as BS. Their abilities to interact with the real world seem incredibly limited until it comes to lightbulbs and things made of glass, then apparently it's party time baby. Doesn't make any fucking sense.

I look over at my computer and the USB cord that I use to plug in my iPod was vigorously swaying back and forth. It lasted for like ten seconds. My windows were closed and my door was shut, so it's not like the wind was making it sway. There weren't any animals that could have brushed up against it or anything. I don't believe in ghosts. I always went with the motto "I'll believe it once I see it", I don't know, this event made me think about it a bit more. My grandparents were separated for a good 20+ years. When my grandfather died, my grandmother said that she could smell him in her house even though they haven't lived together for those 20+ years. Another incident she had was when she had money missing and blamed him for displacing it or whatever.

Besides, do you see anything else randomly moving around? Do you have a history of noticing anything else like that? Plus, normally this is not an issue for people. We'd see a HELL of a lot more shit randomly moving around if ghosts were wandering around manipulating objects for shiggles. I daresay many instances would be captured on film, perhaps even on talk shows.

My point was, ghosts are inconsistent with reality as we know it and there is absolutely zero hard prove that they exist. If you are going to jump to some irrational conclusion, at least pick something within the realm of possibility.

You are right, which is why I checked to see if my windows were open to see if the wind would have been the reason. And I checked to see if there were any pets in my room that could have been playing with the cable.

It was my first time witnessing something of the sort and have yet to see a repeat of it. I completely agree with you but I just don't know what could explain the cable to sway back and forth as much as it did.

same with seeing things, its just your eyes, and the first think people think is they saw a ghost because they can't explain it any other way.

not really a ghost, but about 12 or so years ago my grandparents got a very strange call.

as a quick background: my 45 year-old uncle has never moved out of their house - he has problems with addiction and is constantly paranoid. he had a very close friend die and was absolutely devastated to the point of not leaving his room.

a few days later, my grandparents got a call. this was back in the days when the caller id was a separate box from the phone and they still had a tape recording their messages in the answering machine. anyway, the caller id lit up, but showed nothing; not "unavailable" or "unknown" on the screen, the screen just lit up. the phone rang only once and went to voicemail which it was not set to do - it was set to ring 3 times. the background of the call sounds like someone in a wind tunnel. 2-3 seconds after it starts, a weak and faded man's voice says "peace, my friend..." a few more seconds of the wind passes and the message ends. my uncle heard it and swore it sounded like his friend that died. he took it to his friend's parents and they swore it sounded like their dead son as well. my uncle started to come out of his sadness after this.

his friend's parents ended up on a couple local news shows as a result of the tape. i've heard the tape many times and my grandparents still have it. shit creeps me the fuck out.

in any case, i don't know whether or not ghosts really exist, but i'm not yet willing to rule out the possibility. my grandparents would not make this shit up.

And people need to stop giving so much importance to what they perceive. The brain isn't particularly reliable when you're tired or stressed, and because of this, it's very easy to interpret something incorrectly. That's exactly what happen in most "ghost case".

if ghosts existed, the world would be awash in spirits from beyond. billions of souls have perished throughout history. you wouldn't be able to swing a dead cat without bumping into several ghosts.

then there are people who make claims of dog/cat/animal ghosts. i quickly wonder where the fuckin ultra huge dinosaur ghosts are. they were around for several 100 million years, surely there should be a few t-rex apparitions roaming about.

the only way to reconcile these facts, is to arbitrarily impose restrictions on ghosts.

-only souls that have unfinished business
-only souls that died unjust deaths
-they only appear in secluded areas, like dense forests or my grandmother's closet
-etc

any rational minded person - even after experiencing some sort of 'ghostly' phenomena - should conclude that there is a logical explanation, and not jump to the conclusion of ZMOG GHOSSSSTTTT!!!!
