An observation (mob behavior)

Hey Mio....get the off your high horse. It was an observation and question I had regarding a game that not only is in new development but only 2 weeks old.

No one was complaining about the game engine or mechanics. I was just curious if it had anything to do with the woods taint stuff that my main story line mentioned, or whatever.

Seriously, holier than thou, aren't we? PS, awesome Japanese name. How's the weather in Cali?

Yea I wasn't sure if I was imagining this either. It makes me super paranoid because the mob is definitely acting like it's aggro and about to pounce you.

You're right Mio. And it'll be moved to dead threads for dumb questions that would only irritate high level players such as yourself (31 physical, all crafting).

Please. Feel free to post a more "advanced" topic in its wake. Such as high level chains, battle regime strategies, end game....anything you consider more advanced.

I was just wondering about the monster behavior. No one is advanced yet.

Most of the mob "passive aggro" could be chopped up to immersion but some mobs exhibit annoying and unrealistic behavior. Aldgoat Billy's in Uldah have annoyingly good path finding AI. After getting passive aggro in the middle of a leve quest I did what most would do, I moved away. I moved so far away that the goat was barely in camera rendering range after having run past several terrain obstacles such as cliffs, rock formations, and a "curvy" bridge. The damn goat still managed to track me down and ruin any chance of me using AOE spells.

tldr: It would be nice if the pathfinding AI was toned down for passive mobs.

It's not so much that the game is 2 weeks old or that the behavior has been noted quite a few times, and quite a long time ago (this behavior was present in alpha, for instance). It's more that this behavior is so obvious, making this thread is akin to walking outside, looking up, and yelling "holy shit the sky is blue". If mobs following you intentionally isn't completely fucking obvious the first time it happens, you really need to evaluate whether you should be playing a "next-gen mmo" or spider solitaire.

Yeah I noticed this about an hour into Beta, it didn't seem weird to me since mobs in FFXI do it.

Anyways, I would like to express my hatred for the fucking Aldgoat Billy's around everytime I do Save the lettuce, save the world. Such a pain in the ass having a mob that hard dickwadding around in your aoe space on a rank 20 leve.

I wasn't in alpha or beta. I came in on CE release. I had first noticed in Uldah with the billy goats, then with Opo's.

Like I said, sorry for asking a question that so obvious to everyone else.
