Not sure what Tyche was trying to say, but it is a safety in your hypothetical scenario. If you start in the endzone and run all around the endzone, it is still a touchback. But if you are ever in the field of play and retreat to the endzone, safety.

If you get a pick on the 5 and your momentum takes you to the endzone, and you're not touched, it's a touchback or forward progress (can't remember which). If you're hit into the endzone, you get forward progress.

No, that's a safety. If an offense fumbles the ball on their 1 yard line and it goes out of bounds in the endzone, it's a safety.

I'm pretty positive to result in a safety, you have to make forward progress toward the other side of the field where you would be attempting to score.

Err, I'm pretty sure the first scenario is a safety. You can't catch a ball on the 5 then run into the endzone to get it on the 20, that doesn't make sense.

I'm pretty sure you are correct. I'm thinking of a scenario where the DB is running alongside the WR on a deep route, he makes the INT near the endzone, and his momentum carries him into the endzone, it would be a touchback.
