Go All to Pieces—The Mog Tablet Quest Unearthed! (05/07/2009) (http://www.playonline.com/pcd/topics/ff11us/detail/4483/detail.html) http://www.playonline.com/pcd/topics/ff11us/detail/4483/4483.jpg (http://www.playonline.com/pcd/topics/ff11us/detail/4483/detail.html)
Psst, you. Yes, you, kupo! You know the nomad moogles, do you not?
Turbans wrapped around their heads, looking like they just came back from a cross-Vana'diel hiking expedition?
Well, believe it or not, some say that they're actually the descendants of an ancient, long-lost moogle civilization that holds the key to a fabled treasure, kupo!

What's that? Just another tall moogle tale, you say?

Fine, then! Don't read on (http://www.playonline.com/pcd/topics/ff11us/detail/4483/detail.html). You don't know what you're missing out on, kupo...

Sit back, friend, and let me tell you the tale, kupo.
'Tis a tale of countless generations past—of joy, of sadness, and one magnificent moogle monarch's unrealized dream.

Our story begins in the ancient kingdom of Kupalika, a peaceful and prosperous nation where ten thousand score of moogles and some twice as many sheep lived together in moogle magic-enhanced harmony.

This magnificent moogle monarchy reached the peak of its prosperity during the reign of its seventh ruler, King Kupofried the Great, a peerless paragon of a potentate whose wisdom, benevolence, and mastery of magic have yet to see their equal. Verily, it was the selfsame King Kupofried who developed the teleportation techniques of which you adventurers are so fond, kupo.
And so the golden age of our ancestors' kingdom endured...

Yet time and tide wait for no moogle—not even the mighty King Kupofried.
Having grown old and gray, and knowing his time was near, the sagacious sovereign set about his life's work—eleven poems of happiness and joy, engraved on tablets of stone, that could be entrusted to future generations to ensure everlasting peace and prosperity for his children, his grandchildren, and all of mooglekind.
http://www.playonline.com/pcd/topics/ff11us/detail/4483/4483_0.jpg

Sadly, it would soon become evident that the kindly king's tranquil temperament was not shared by his progeny, kupo. No sooner had the petty princes and princesses caught word of the tablets' existence than they embroiled themselves in a bitter brouhaha over which of them would inherit the freshly hewn heirlooms.

King Kupofried was devastated, dejected, and demoralized, kupo. How could his verses, born of such heartfelt joy, become the source of such strife among his scions? In a fit of frustration, he commanded his minion bats to scatter the stone tablets to the far corners of the world, that they might never be seen by moogle eyes again.
The next day, he vanished from his throne and kingdom, never to return.

Bereft of its wise monarch, Kupalika soon spiraled into decay—and eventually, downfall. The myriad moogles who once lived together as one people fractured into numerous tribes, some preferring to live alongside Altana's children, with others opting to preserve their nomadic customs.
One of these tribes, smallest in number yet stoutest in spirit, is that of the "explorer moogles," kupo. Tracing their lineage back to King Kupofried himself, these brave souls scour the far ends of Vana'diel in search of the long-lost tablets for generation after generation, that they might someday realize their legendary forefather's abandoned dream.

But relics of legend are not so easily found, and the explorers' staunchest efforts seemed doomed to end in vain, kupo.
That is, until just the other day, when a particularly intrepid explorer caught word of a tablet sighting.

Is this report authentic? If so, where are the tablets to be found?
And why have they only now surfaced, after so many years?
Most importantly, can any profit be had from this, so as to bring the MHMU out of the red at long last, kupo!?

The questions are endless, and there's only one way to answer them.
You—yes, you, my adventuring friend!—must lend your strength and substantial sleuthing skills to the explorer moogles' investigation.

Who knows? With your help, the mystical powers of our long-lost treasure just might bring peace and prosperity to the land of Vana'diel at its hour of greatest need.
So what are you waiting for? Go forth, and may the spirit of King Kupofried watch over you!

Quest Overview
You heard the good moogle—only you can help recover the legendary treasure of King Kupofried!
Assist the explorer moogles in tracking down the eleven lost tablets, then bask in the benefits as their mysterious "Super Kupowers" fill the realm with happiness and joy!
Additional rewards also await the astute adventurers who unearth the precious relics.

Event Schedule
The Mog Tablet Quest will commence on Tuesday, May 12 at 1:00 a.m. (PDT) and continue indefinitely.
Super Kupowers will go into effect when all eleven tablets have been found, their magnificent moogle magic affecting nearly all (*see note below) known world areas. These beatific boons will endure for one week before the quest draws to a temporary close.
After a set period of time, the tablets will once more be scattered to the winds, and the quest will begin anew!
Players may check the current status of the Mog Tablet quest at any time by speaking with the Explorer Moogle stationed in Ru'Lude Gardens (H-9).

Tracking Down the Elusive Tablets
What's that? You want some advice before you go off gallivanting around the world? Very well, kupo.
Word has it that the eleven tablets are concealed in the areas below, with no more than one tablet in any single location.
The tablets will reveal themselves readily to those who venture close enough, but be forewarned—mounted adventurers run the risk of overlooking the concealed treasures...

West Ronfaure / East Ronfaure / La Theine Plateau / Valkurm Dunes / Jugner Forest
Batallia Downs / North Gustaberg / South Gustaberg / Konschtat Highlands / Passhow Marshlands / Rolanberry Fields / Beaucedine Glacier / Xarcabard / Cape Teriggan / Eastern Altepa Desert / West Sarutabaruta / East Sarutabaruta / Tahrongi Canyon / Buburimu Peninsula / Meriphataud Mountains / Sauromugue Champaign / The Sanctuary of Zi'Tah / Ro'Maeve / Yuhtunga Jungle / Yhoator Jungle / Western Altepa Desert / Qufim Island / Behemoth's Dominion / Valley of Sorrows

- Successful Discoveries
When a tablet is successfully unearthed, a message will be displayed to all adventurers in the aforementioned areas informing them of the discovery. The player who uncovered the tablet can proceed to the Explorer Moogle in Ru'Lude Gardens (H-9) to collect a well-deserved reward!

- About "Super Kupowers"
The mystical Super Kupowers of King Kupofried will go into effect once all eleven mog tablets have been recovered, providing an assortment of benefits for all adventurers within the affected areas. Three powers from the list below will be selected at random, and will remain active for one week (Earth time) before the quest starts anew.
*During the Adventurer Appreciation Campaign, all eleven bonuses will go into effect at once (see below for details).

"Thrifty Transit": Outpost teleport sites will operate free of charge!
"Martial Master": As an added Signet effect, battle skills will increase more rapidly!
"Blood of the Vampyr": Signets will be boosted with the abilities of Regeneration and Refresh!
"Treasure Hound": Signet will grant you the Gilfinder and Treasure Hunter abilities!
"Artisan's Advantage": The chances of losing ingredients due to failed synthesis will be significantly lowered!
"Mystery Boxes: San d'Oria": Treasure Caskets will appear more frequently around San d'Oria!
"Mystery Boxes: Bastok": Treasure Caskets will appear more frequently around Bastok!
"Mystery Boxes: Windurst": Treasure Caskets will appear more frequently around Windurst!
"Mystery Boxes: Frontier Lands": Treasure Caskets will appear more frequently in the north and other distant lands!
"Swift Shoes": Adventurers who are fully rested and healed will temporarily be able to run with great speed!
"Ease of Exploration": A teleport service connecting the towns of Mhaura and Selbina to the three nations will appear!

*Effects will be limited to areas from the original FINAL FANTASY XI and the Rise of the Zilart and Chains of Promathia expansions, with certain areas excluded.
*Upon entering an affected area, a message indicating the active Super Kupower(s) will be displayed in the chat window.

http://www.playonline.com/pcd/topics/ff11us/detail/4483/4483_14.jpg- Special Rewards
A twofold treat awaits the astute adventurers who discover the tablets! Players will receive Kupofried's Ring—a precious relic left behind by the legendary king himself that is said to possess prodigious powers—as well as an additional reward corresponding to the particular tablet they reclaimed.

http://www.playonline.com/pcd/topics/ff11us/detail/4483/4483_15.jpg

A Special 7th Vana'versary Bonus!
Under normal circumstances, recovering the complete set of Mog Tablets will trigger three randomly selected Super Kupowers.
However, should the set be restored during "Adventurer Appreciation Week"—Tuesday, May 12 at 1:00 a.m. (PDT) to Monday, May 25 at the same hour—all eleven powers will be released simultaneously!
Just think of it as one small expression of gratitude to all of you who have helped to make Vana'diel the rousing realm of adventure that it is!

EDIT- Upon rereading let me upgrade that to a: SUPER HOT!

This is amazing. Everyone thought it would just be during the Adventurer Appreciation Campaign... but apparently the mog tablets are a permanent feature (or at least, they say "indefinitely"), and during the event you get all 11 powers instead of 3 random ones (which is amazing. I was expecting to be allowed to pick just ONE, DURING the event)
Yay!

Looks like both, but you have to earn the Kupofried's Ring separately by finding tablets. (Maybe even past the Adventuring Appreciation event.)

Hmm...will there be 11 tablets total for the entire server to find or will people have to individually each find 11 tablets? If it's the former, then this went from SUPER AWESOME to BS.

Edit: Okay, not completely BS I guess, since the Signet bonuses are kind of cool but it will worse than HNM camping in it's prime to get one of the 11 tablets.

Why? You get to try to get them every week. It just limits the rewards to 11 per server per week.

Well, it resets every week. But I can guarantee you zones will be PACKED after each conquest. If you're not on once it resets, you're fucked.

Awesome idea, fucking horrible execution.

If you can get one freebie for the server getting all 11 during Adventurer Appreciation, then it would be fine. Otherwise, it's a giant cocktease and you'll have to be awake at 8 AM PST on a Sunday to have a Defending Ring-esque chance of finding a tablet.

I agree that the Signet bonuses are cool, but it still won't get people to exp there when they could level in ToAU with an exp bonus. Refresh and Regen are nice and so are the increased skill ups. But that's about it unless you're on a low level job.

Wait, collect tablet and go to moogle for reward?

I thought you have to collect all 11 to get a shot at anything?

EDIT: nevermind, I reread, you get a reward for that area for that tablet, or something, but moving on v

But also:

The mystical Super Kupowers of King Kupofried will go into effect once all eleven mog tablets have been recovered, providing an assortment of benefits for all adventurers within the affected areas.Sounds like only 1 (or a group of random people) person needs to do the work and we'll get 3 random benefits.

So technically I can get a tablet and cockblock everyone from these benefits?

11 people each week is correct.

Yeah.. make more events that last for 2 weeks where you need help of a galka dnc above 37+ to get a new pumpkin hat with +50 enmity during midnight fullmoon darksday rather than this BS where rewards are actually useful and the event doesn't end :/

The Stig
05-07-2009, 06:29 AM
Nope, I'm sure you have to turn the tablets to the moogle, or I can cockblock everyone >=D

$2500 any takers?

Same here, glad to see them trying to give signet a boost, but if it's only 11 a week I can probably safely assume It's gonna be a good few months (possibly longer) till I have a snowball's chance in hell of getting one.

Assuming there is what, 4k+ people on your average server?

Enjoy your TH1. Still could be good in places like dynamis where a THF doesn't always get to tag statues before they die (timed nukes, etc).

I like this on the whole, especially how they decided to keep it ongoing. The scale of the event is on par with the treants of old as far as the actions of players having an effect on the entire server.

I'll never say no to any increase in drop rates of old area content. Which is the biggest boost from this as I see it. Too bad we'll have that specific bonus about 1/4 of the time :/. I would like to see a general TH bonuses added to signet so that people can get the old content out of the way and move onto newer and better things.

Here I was thinking that the quest design of "talk to A B C go to X Y Z repeat" was played out, and then SE goes and does something annoying like this.

Maybe if the zone that the thing popped in gave players the ability to attack each other or something, as opposed to bot/speed hack ftw...

My nightmare scenario: quest doesn't reset at tally but the timer starts when someone hands in the 11th tablet.

It can't be reset at tally because tally is midnight JST... SE would not force entire JP community to stay up all night on Sun-Mon to do this. On the other hand, if it does reset at tally that'll make up for the years of bitching from EU community for having maintenances at our primetime (tally is mid-Sunday afternoon for us). So yeh, it's bound to be something tricky like what you suggested.

I wonder how close you have to get for the Tablet to appear on your screen. The only thing that uses something similar to that, I can think of, is the Assault where you have to rescue the 3 prisoners. You have to get pretty close to see if they are NPCs or not.

I probably won't get a Kupofried Ring, but it'll be nice if I ever do.

Ok, since some people don't seem to be bothered to even read the outline before they comment lets go over this really quick.

Some of this is assumption and I will indicate that as such below.

1. Mog Table Quest starts on Tuesday, May 12 at 1 AM (PST) (Convenient for the JP's for the first week?) and continues indefinitely.

2. The bonuses go into effect as soon as all 11 tablets are found and will endure for 1 week. On the first week, you get all 11 bonuses, all other times you get 3 random bonuses. There are some limitations, but every time you zone you will get a message telling you the buffs.

3. After a set period of time the quest will begin again. (Assumption: This will probably rotate it through the time zones, wouldn't be surprised if it was on Grand Wyrm spawn times or something.)

4. You can check on the status of the quest with a moogle in Ru'Lude.

5. Tablets can be found in all outdoor Zilart areas except for Sky. Only 1 tablet per area.

6. When a tablet is found it will give a system message to the area about the discovery.

7. The discoverer can then trade in the tablet for a reward from the moogle in Ru'Lude. (Assumption: This will not be linked to the global rewards for this quest. So, you don't have to worry about cock blocking.)

8. Anyone that returns a tablet gets a Kupofried Ring. An additional reward will be given based on the tablet you return.

And to those that are bitching about this not being good because they won't get a Kupofried Ring every week, please think about it for a second. You are basically bitching that they aren't giving you a double Anniversary Ring every week. You get the Anniversary Ring once a year... think about it.

One last thing, it appears that this is not going to operate on the Conquest weekly timer. The first evidence is that the event starts at 1AM PST on a Tuesday. The second is that it is it specifically says the buffs will last for a week. Third, it says that the quest restarts after a set period of time.

Why it starts at 1AM PST (4AM EST, 9AM GMT) on the first week? That is obviously in favor of the JP's as everything else normally starts at JP midnight.

I think the majority of bitching stems from the fact that it was pretty accepted that this was a replacement for the anni ring or the reward from the moogle scenario.

Yes the bonuses will be nice but still, I was looking forward to leveling my 2nd char damn fast

You mean this:

What's that? You want some advice before you go off gallivanting around the world? Very well, kupo.
Word has it that the eleven tablets are concealed in the areas below, with no more than one tablet in any single location.
The tablets will reveal themselves readily to those who venture close enough, but be forewarned—mounted adventurers run the risk of overlooking the concealed treasures...

Where it states nothing but 11 tablets randomly placed in 32 areas?
I read it, take a fucking chill pill. Christ.

And to those that are bitching about this not being good because they won't get a Kupofried Ring every week, please think about it for a second. You are basically bitching that they aren't giving you a double Anniversary Ring every week. You get the Anniversary Ring once a year... think about it.

I blame .dat mining for getting my unfounded hopes up.

Well, I wanted one too. I thought it was going to be the Anniversary Ring for this year. But it looks like we will still get an Anniversary Ring this year and every week or so you will get a chance at the Kupofried Ring too. Not a bad deal if you can look back at it reasonably.

Honestly, that is where half of the bitching on BG comes from. People make bad assumptions from .dat mining, "accept" that they are "truth" then get all QQ and butt hurt when their pie-in-the-sky dreams collapse down around their ears.

If only one tablet per area can be found, then we have to have a way of knowing which areas to exclude in our searching.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Are you still on that?
Jesus. They state that one table can be found in one area. It'd be nice if they tell us what areas the current tablets have been found in. That still leaves 21 other areas to search.

Checking the status of the event could just mean that X of 11 tablets have been found.

Also, at no point have I been QQing or upset. I like this entire thing, I doubt I'll get a Kupofried's ring anytime soon, but I like the idea of being able to get them at some point.

Also this:

However, should the set be restored during "Adventurer Appreciation Week"—Tuesday, May 12 at 1:00 a.m. (PDT) to Monday, May 25 at the same hour—all eleven powers will be released simultaneously!

...concerns me a bit. Does that mean we only get the full eleven bonuses during AAW if all tablets are found within one hour of each other?

As for how the timer works, my guess is that the Week of buffs starts when the last tablet is found and ends in exactly one week from that point. If it was Tally based, then if you found the last rune on a saturday, you would only have a day of buffs. So it has to be on it's own timer. Like Assault or Campaign Op tags.

If they have a .dat everyone's going to be changing them to giant glowing happy faces like that chigoe .dat.

It only appears when you walk near it, so a dat change won't help you spot it from farther away.

When you do walk near it, the words "Mog Tablet" appears over it like an NPC. There is a screenshot of this in the OP. If you're blind enough miss that, a giant glowing happy face isn't going to make much of a difference.

You have a couple things wrong here.

First, about the quote. You need to look at all of the quote.

However, should the set be restored during "Adventurer Appreciation Week"—Tuesday, May 12 at 1:00 a.m. (PDT) to Monday, May 25 at the same hour—all eleven powers will be released simultaneously!

When a "--" is used it indicates an internal ellipse, an interruption in the statement without modifying it. In this case it is saying that if the set is restored during the Adventurer Appreciation Week then all will be released simultaneously. The "at the same hour" is only modifying May 25 and is only indicating the close time for the event. So your concerns here are unfounded. You just need to find all 11 tablets within the AAW.

Second, the post also indicates that the rewards are two-fold, you will get a Kupofried Ring, and an additional reward dependent on the tablet you turned in. Evidence here: "A twofold treat awaits the astute adventurers who discover the tablets! Players will receive Kupofried's Ring—a precious relic left behind by the legendary king himself that is said to possess prodigious powers—as well as an additional reward corresponding to the particular tablet they reclaimed."

I am actually very impressed with the implementation for this event. Not only does it last 'forever', but there are rewards for all levels of participation. People who actually hunt the tablets get (probably) nice exp rings, and even if you don't find a tablet, or don't even bother, you get some nice benefits.

I know people are QQing over not automatically getting a second EXP ring, but damn. How is this not completely badass compared to other lame events, or the grind of ACP? I personally always loved the 'server teamup!' style events.

Agreed. It's really sad when people are given something for free and then they complain about it because they wanted more. If SE hadn't released anything at all, no one would be complaining or crying, but now that they've essentially given you a weekly chance at an anniversary ring and free signet bonuses for doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, everyone's butthurt. So if I understand the bitching about "I'll never get one of these rings", people are going to be spamming 11 Kupofried charges every week, non-stop, forever... while managing to cover 32 zones of possible pop locations, including gems such as: VoS, Ro'Maeve, the Jungles (watch it be able to pop in the area where the ZM headstone is, so you gotta go through cauldron to check there).

It isn't like it will be popping in the same 11 zones in the same exact spots, and odds are it will have some sort of cycling timer. Find when the window is due, pick a zone and hope you get lucky.

It's like going to get Sanction/Sigil, but instead of buying the refresh/regen/food shit, you randomly find out you have refresh/regen, skillups, and a week long flee effect.

Just put up stoneskin/blink/phalanx to make sure you don't drop below "fully healed", and off you go. Sneak? What's that?

I don't think the radar program is going to work. The tablet works differently from treasure crates in that it only appears when you walk near it.

I can only think of one thing in the game that appears when you walk near it - the Lost And Found assault (Ilrusi 7 i believe?) has a ??? that can only be targeted if you stand on top of it.

Basically, your client program doesn't know where the tablet is. The server spawns the tablet only after you stand in the correct location. It despawns when you walk away.

DAT swaps won't help either, even if you replace the tablet with Tiamat it won't appear until you walk near it.

It really didnt say whether or not rings will be able to be obtained more than once. They will probably make it once every 11 weeks or something, sticking with their 11 theme. Or 1 per year. Does anyone know anything different?

Edit: Also, given there are 52 weeks in a year, and 11 can be given out per week...that means there are 572 given out per year. If your server has at least 2500-3000 people, everyone should have one (considering only able to obtain 1) in 5-6 years. No rush ><

People do pay a monthly fee for them to update the game, so it's not really 'free'. The signet bonuses are cool yes, but you really don't think they could have implemented the ring in a better way? At least one that doesn't directly encourage/benefit cheating?

Ain't saying this is the best way to implement it, but I can't figure out anything better right now considering that they want only 11 people to get these per week (which is reasonable in my opinion, considering the stats...no need to agree with me here).

And it is free in terms of working for the items in game, lol. You do almost nothing ingame (talk to moogle) and get something in return. Oh, this might be SE's next RMT scheme though, it is suspicious. It's not like them to give stuff for just paying a monthly fee...

Does APradar show mobs before they spawn?

This might not actually be spawned until you're near it, we don't know.

You still have to cover 32 zones, and it would be super hilarious if you get flagged for a GM investigation if you manage to get 2+ tablets within a certain period of time.

To those saying this is in any way shape or form a good thing, i give you 3 letters: RMT.

You think they won't be out in force after these things? It'll help them level new accounts quicker than ever.

Hoping they change it in the near future where the tablets just random spawn all over the place, with no set limit. Give more people a chance at it. Still makes it hard to find it all so you're working for it, but more than a select few will ever see a reward.

Non-targetable/non-visible stuff shows up in apradar.

Does apradar find the ring in the assault Lost And Found (Ilrusi 7)?

I'm not sure what other nontargetable/invisble stuff the apradar can find (can you give examples?), but Lost And Found is the closest thing I can think of to how the tablets will be handled.

Nice, I'm glad this sounds like it will be a permanent event. Anyone else get the feeling they're trying to nudge us into aimlessly wandering all over the main areas lately? I hope the skillup boost is significant to make things like parry or guard more convenient.

Sounds like the rings will only go out to a lucky few, but oh well. I can't complain the other event goodies sound nice enough. Plus this thread finally pushed me over the edge and convinced me to put Ringthree on my ignore list. Were all winners!

Lost and Found is slightly different in that the target only appears as you speak to the NPC and it is not contingent upon your proximity to it. A better example might be Defuse the Threat where the bombs appear once you walk near them.

Hmmmn. I wonder if the HNM statues might come from this event as well. Perhaps finding the tablet in BD yields the Behemoth Statue, VoS yields Adamantoise Statue, and for Fafnir...well, I'm not sure about that. I suppose Zi'Tah is as close to DA as you could get, but I'm not sure if that's a close enough relationship to warrant that type of award.

Another failure by SE. Jawsome!

If I had to name one far-fetched idea, this would be it. But I guess quitters have the need to come in and find more reasons to justify their quitting.

I honestly see this as a big issue. Either the RMT will be swarming over it under the ground like they do when thy mine in Mt. Z, or you're going to be camping against the hardcore set that waits every single reset for this to happen. If you can't see that, you're fucking delusional.

Edit: More to the point; this should be a fun event, not another fucktardedly hard event meant to cockblock 99% of the population. I agree the ring shouldnt just be given out freely, but 11 total tablets? That's fucking stupid. A majority of the players wont even see the benefits from this.

What if you're just awesome like that?

I don't think anyone is awesome enough to consecutively land in the correct spot to find 1 of 11 objects scattered possibly ANYWHERE over 32 zones which don't show up til you're near them before someone else bumped into them.

How do you even begin to calculate that probability?

11/32 zones have a tablet in them, let's say arbitrarily that tablets can't pop at distances less than a stride apart from another possible location, you still have a huge range of possible locations for that 11/32 chance to be in.

Fuck, let's say you can only get 1 possible tablet location per grid square on the maps.

Covering all of the grids, on foot, for on average 3 zones before you have a decent chance of even being in the right zone...

No, if you get two or more tablets in consecutive weeks, you pretty obviously had third party assistance, or should buy more lottery tickets.

A majority of the players wont even see the benefits from this.

How many people use Signet ever for anything?

How many people craft?

How many people farm?

If you do basically anything in a signet zone, odds are you'll get some sort of benefit from the 3 random buffs per week.

Crafting buff this week? Awesome, time to level that sub.
TH and Movement up? Nice, time to go farm some.

I love Signet, the fact that Sigil dupes a lot of it's benefits (I think it's got the Def/Eva shit too right?) makes it very sexy for the stuff I do in WoTG zones, but I feel really... comfortable in a Signet zone with Signet on.

I'm excited as hell about the random buffs being permanent things, yeah you might get all three nation chest buffs one week, but Regen/Refresh + Movement + whatever else could pop up the next week.

You're not explaining yourself very well there, so I'd like an explanation as to how khroma ores that can be sold for lots of gil have anything to do with nonsellable kupofried's rings that only 1-11 RMT characters can use in a week. Not to mention that the RMT characters have to have some kind of access to zones such as Altepa, Xarcabard and Jungles.

Also, do you know that SE likes to expand on existing events? Everybody gets a free ring from this, and everybody gets the bonuses from bringing in all the tablets. So, I'd like to disagree with the "majority of players not seeing the benefits of this" statement.

No rush ><

I bring you Maths from someone

Ok, say the average server has about 2500-3000 players, and 11 players per week get a Kupofried's Ring. I'll average it out at 2750 since that makes my math easier

2750/11 = 250 Weeks

52 Weeks = 1 Year

250/52 = 4.8 Years.........Until everybody on the current server could possibly have one. That is if most of those people haven't left already and been replaced with new people.

Does APradar show all of the despawned positions for the moving afterglows in Fei'yin?

SE should have just used a wave function describing the tablet as having a probability of being at any point on the map, and when you get near the highest peak, it collapses into something resembling a classical particle state which you can directly observe and interact with.

I'm going to laugh if trying to use APradar on these shows all of the possible despawned positions.

Finding a tablet will net you a Kupofried ring when you turn it in, and a reward related to the specific tablet you found (let's say you found the swift tablet, you get a pair of augmented leather boots with +12% movement speed or something, note that this is just a random conjecture, and there is NOTHING solid suggesting that it is likely, just something that came to me as I was typing this since the augment update was the one that added these tablets as well).

Turning in all 11 tablets by ANYONE will apply 3 random bonuses to ANYONE who gets Signet and is in the zones which are not excluded from the effects specifically.

If you turn on show hidden (dead/despawned objects) maybe, but by default it will just show where the currently spawned ones are. (yes I just did the ACP quests with apradar on). If you have the option turned on, it should show the current ones at 100% and the despawned ones at 0%.

I mean it kind of sucks that it's going to be super-difficult (depending on the tablet respawn frequency, unless I misread something it just says a set period of time) to obtain. If it's once a Conquest, it'd be rather stupid since you would see 11/week as someone mentioned.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was based around JP midnight, since all of the ACP stuff is and those keys yield some nice rewards if your lucky. I mean if it's 11/Week it would take what, ~20 weeks to cover approx. 2,000 people assuming all are unique instances of obtaining the item. I know SE has a habit of missing the point on a lot of their additions, but I don't think they would shaft that many people out of the Ring. (although you never know)

Here's one thing that really irks me about this though;

It gives a message to everyone in the zone when a tablet has been found. AFTER that however, anyone just wandering in could potentially be looking forever because they will have missed the message that the tablet was already found.

Bottom tier rewards. Many of the bottom tier rewards can be obtained through an alternate means.

Edit: That was a silly thing to say. Nearly all of the rewards on all of the tiers can be obtained through an alternate means.

Edit2: The king statues seem to be the only Bonanza rewards that are currently exclusive to Bonanza. I definitely wouldn't assume that they will remain exclusive.

What makes everyone so sure you can get the ring multiple times? Depending on how you interpret the ambiguity in the wording, Kupofried's might as well be a first-time-only reward (like the 10k gil from escort), and repeating the quest only gets area buffs (which are freaking awesome in their own right).

Which somehow makes much more sense to me than Square/Enix doling out massive EXP boosts for camping a 168 hour repop NM.

Hi. Let's play a game called Windows Calculator. 11 * 20 = ? *HINT* It's not 2,000. You're looking at ~182 (or twice that if it is bi-weekly) weeks for 2,000 rings, not 20.

Furthermore, to the genius claiming RMT are going to be hunting rings in full force: You're an idiot. Kupofried ring gives 66k EXP total. I guarantee you, if you were the only person looking for tablets, it would still take you more than two or three hours to find one on average. You could have been Astral Burning in that time and gotten 66k EXP easily. That's assuming that nobody else is looking for them, either. The most likely scenario is you waste an hour or two looking, and then they all end up being found by other people. Assuming 2,000 people are all equally likely to find a ring, that's 363 EXP per person. You're better off just EXPing rather than looking for tablets. The only reason to go tablet searching would be to get the additional rewards, if they're nice.

Just to reiterate: If you're looking for tablets because you think getting the ring will make you level super fast, you are actually leveling slower than if you just went to EXP.

Did you just say "makes much more sense" and "SE" in the same sentence?

SE intends for players to casually stumble across the mog tablets and reap a massive reward when they do. SE also intended for people to chance upon land kings and wyrms whenever they happened to be up.

I really like this new addition and I hope they make it permanent. =)
The only problem being is, a lot of people are going to be put off looking for these tablets seeing as you can't see them while mounted on a Chocobo, which means snailing it around enormous zones for over an hour (depends on zone) and one of the 11 tablets that remain to be found may not even be in the zone you're looking for.

Personally, a hint from the Moogles to which zones still have tablets remaining would be nice, but I guess searching random zone after zone hoping there is a tablet there is what this will end up being. =/

who cares if there's another ring that is hard to get? If there was only kupofried's and not the one above then people could be pissed for a reason. Now it's just, duh.

Did you just say "makes much more sense" and "SE" in the same sentence?

SE intends for players to casually stumble across the mog tablets and reap a massive reward when they do. SE also intended for people to chance upon land kings and wyrms whenever they happened to be up.
Hey, all I said is that it makes sense SE is stingy.

When I first read this announcement I was all "HOLY SHIT THIS IS AWESOME!!!"

Then I read through the thread and realized this event is crap. :(

Seriously though, it's awesome. I'm hoping the tablets only spawn when someone is close enough to make APRadar not have a huge advantage in finding them.

Given that my playstyle is one of "xp when I feel like it" versus "xp all the time" I like the idea of this ring and the indefinite event that goes along with it. If I'm lucky enough to get a kupofried ring, it'll be a long while before I use it up.

Ok tardmuffin. (see i can play the name calling game too) Do you not know how to read, or are you just selectively reading what you want? It would take rmt all of 10 minutes, figuring they HACK GO TO UNDERGROUND. They do it in Mt. Z, they do it in grauberg ( you can npc the harvesting stuff there for a fair amount, and it's not been nerfed by se yet). Keep your trap shut if you're not going to think before you post.

All my point of this was, was the fact that an exp ring shouldnt be so damn hard to get. The everyone getting the signet bonus is really nice, i love that part; but a exp ring being that hard to obtain, when you're fighting a ton of other people is a little nuts.

So, you think that mog tablets will act like antlions, and maintain popped status underground, and just pop up when you walk over them? While that is one possible option, there are many just as likely others which would make being underground to look around completely unhelpful. On top of that, POS hacking gets you banned extremely fast, it would be completely fruitless for them to do this. You think RMT are going to POS underground (possibly all over the zone? lol) to get 66k EXP rings, so that they can get to 75 faster? RMT can be stupid, but they aren't that stupid, they would be banned within hours of obtaining the ring.

I'd be hard pressed to believe that even if you were told exactly where a tablet was, you could get to it in under 10 minutes. And furthermore, RMT being able to get these in any amount of time, instant, 10 minutes, whatever, changes nothing. It is not worth looking for tablets to get EXP rings for the average person, it still isn't worth looking for them with a perfectly fair chance. I thought quite a bit on this before posting, and your fear is just as stupid as I said it was. With or without super RMT, if you think looking for Kupofried rings will save you time leveling, you're wrong.

I really hope they leave these Kupower bonuses in permanently. Thanks to FoV and treasure caskets, there's people wandering around even the most obscure zones these days and how apathetic could one be to not hit a Moogle Tablet with enter if it's right there. These bonus will, no doubt, be in full force almost constantly.

Has so much potential to be garbage, of course that depends on how everything resets(IE: if at jp primetime every week or not), or if they make it so obnoxiously easy to cheat(Radar working). Wish it was done so that everyone could obtain the ring with some effort, not something obnoxious like they did here, but what can you do I suppose, yea for cheating?

Was hoping one of the prizes was a passive exp buff to monsters in a zone, like +50% on all kills EM+. Kinda got excited when I hears "super kupowers."

Eh, 11 rings per event, and I'll never have one, that's my luck.

Also, I don't think this'll last but a month, maybe a month and a half tops.

Finally, I don't think anyone mentioned this, but I get kind of a "Willy Sundi and the Chocobo Factory" kinda vibe from this event. Hah!

I'm not sure if it was said, but it's probably going to work like "Lost and Found" Assault, in the sense that you have to step on the right spot to spawn the "???" and click on it.

App radar might not work on this thing, and it would explain why chocobo won't work.

I think it's not that chocobos won't work, just that you might miss the target popping in and out of existence because you went by too fast.

If it truly doesn't pop up in apradar until your character can normally see it, then you could always unlock it have it always show depopped mobs. Then, ride by as fast as possible, and if it does pop in and out of existence, it's dot will remain on ApRadar at the last position you saw it. So even if you can't see it from 50' away, you can at least ride around the zone and not worry about missing it.

Either way, I do agree some people are pushing the speculation bit a little too far. But to each his own.

I really doubt they would go and screw this up with their next expansion coming up in the near future. Its kind of obvious this is supposed to be a rally move on SE's part for it.

I don't get it. When did exp become so important? A kupothingy ring is 66k exp, what a big deal. People SMN burn endlessly every day in my server, they get that same amount in an hour or two. You'll cap merits that way really fast and draw any significance EXP might have in a couple days.

So, why is exp so important again? I personaly couldn't care less about this ring, I don't even use my emperor band completely every week, not to mention I still have anniversary ring charges.

The big deal of this endless event is the signet bonuses. How is that not awesome by itself?

As with the rest of people here, I do hope these aren't easily cheated because even though I won't be wasting my time roaming areas I already know, I would like fair people to get the rewards, not just the usual suspects.

I've seen this 33k/hour meriting brought up before in this thread, and I have to wonder: so what? People don't want this ring for SMN merit parties.

They want it for other jobs, and under 75. The people who want it the most are the ones who have a hard time xping efficiently, such as soloers like BLM or BST, or just jobs with low invite rates like PUP or DRG.

I get asked all the time by randoms to come merit with my flag down, almost as often as my Rdm. From 35 you can level up to 75 on birds almost exclusively. I dont think any Drg struggles for invites these days tbh, its quite the opposite, but yeah I see what your trying to say regardless.

After thinking it over for a bit its not as bad as I first thought. Yeah it still sucks that only 11 can get a ring each week. The main things I don't like are as such:

-The Moogle in Jeuno tells how many have been found (known fact). Will he give out other info like what zones the tablets were found in? Can more than 1 tablet spawn in a given zone?

Super Kupowers will go into effect when all eleven tablets have been found, their magnificent moogle magic affecting nearly all (*see note below) known world areas. These beatific boons will endure for one week before the quest draws to a temporary close.
After a set period of time, the tablets will once more be scattered to the winds, and the quest will begin anew!

If I'm reading this right, the effects won't happen til all 11 are found (already assumed/known info). Then they'll last for 1 week before they disappear. Then from the last line it sounds like there might be a set amount of time after the effects wear before all 11 tablets get redistributed simultaneously.

That last part is nice (assuming its correct) since you won't have to know exactly when a tablet was picked up to guess when it will be up again. I'm also hoping the scattering will include a global message to players in all areas and not just ones in the listed areas.

It is permanent, this will always be in effect, and getting a doubled anni ring basically is more than enough to keep people hunting them enough to keep the buffs up for the ones who won't hunt.

This is a good thing, stop bitching, they could have put this in the Kupo expansion and charged you for it, the whole event seems more win than ACP was.

If that's what it comes to. If the ring is a one-time reward for each person, I'll patiently wait my turn while reading all the "FAIL" comments in this thread. If not, yikes, it truely will be win for the people willing to endure Kupofried's Aery every week.

I think you will get the ring only when you find the tablet for the very first time and you will get the second prize always when you turn in a tablet.
Even if you dispose of the kupo ring, you will only be able to get 1 in the entire game and I think that ring will be up permenantly for everyone to get whenever they get a their very first tablet.
So when people get their ring, the areas will die down a little I think and others will get a chance to get their ring.

I think the prizes are like this.

Ex:Found tablet in behemoth's dominion, This was my first tablet ever. I get a Kupofiend ring and a Behemoth Statue.
Ex.2: Found my second tablet ever in Valley of Sorrows, I do not get the kupofiend ring again, even if I disposed of the other one but I get the 2nd reward which lets say is the Aspid statue furniture.
Ex. 3: I find all 11 tablets 6 months later, I get a special Kupofiend Figurine furniture as seen in the screenshot.

I think it will work like that.

Given how everyone can "save the world" without it really impacting anyone else's progress in the story, I'm kind of wondering why they didn't do the same here. If you wanted the ring, simply collect all 11 tablets on your own while getting little clues from the moogle so you aren't running around all 32 zones blind. That way, everyone could get their ring if they wanted. Meanwhile, world status on signet bonus could simply hinge upon the total number of individual tablets turned in. If it's low, get one bonus, then go from there.

I didn't think anyone still thought like this, i mean it's an xp ring, not a kc or something. With the shift over the years towards more casual play for xp(ie lowered xp for 75, anniv/empress band/ lvl sync/colibri/ etc), i dont see why it would matter how many people get the moogle band. It's still going to take a long ass time to get 75 even with all 3 bands. 2 weeks of straight xp is still a long ass time, considering you could play any offline game fully in that play time most likely.
Short version, I still think only 11 people getting a week is very lame.

Yes, that is the conclusion I came up with. Maybe I should have added "I think" or "IMO" to the start of the sentence because I do not think of it as the absolute truth and it's not like I have any proof to back it up. Still, I think it's better than the "SE hates us so they won't let us all have it"- option. Do you have any better ideas?

I don't believe that SE has any major concerns regarding the time it takes to reach level 75. If they did, we would have seen some type of reaction to Astral Burning by now.

Personally, I like this new system. To the many players that will say it's not worth an hour of their time to run around a zone and look for the key items, THANK YOU! You are 1 less player that I have to compete with in order to try to obtain the ring.

However, the data-mined item entitlement complex is getting old.
