This thread will be reserved for all the bugs and problems that have not been fixed by SquareEnix. Anyone that has been playing FFXIV knows there are numerous bugs that are annoying and/or easily repairable by the development team.

I encourage everyone to post their findings in this thread, as I will constantly update the first post in an organized matter. If you don't know how to explain a bug, feel free to PM/IM me and I will word it correctly.

Before you submit a bug or problem, please make sure it's valid. Perform tests with multiple variants (windowed, full screen, max/low settings, and so on), ask other people if they are experiencing the same issue, make sure it hasn't already been addressed by the development team, and, most importantly, make sure you aren't just making a mistake.

A version update of FINAL FANTASY XIV was performed at the following time.

* The software client will begin updating automatically the next time you run FINAL FANTASY XIV.

[Important Update Details]
- Made an adjustment to how experience points are distributed amongst party members. Instead of dividing a total number of experience points by the number of players who participated in the battle, it now distributes the total amount of experience points equally amongst all players in the party.

- The chat log will no longer close while entering text during the following processes:
- When viewing a bazaar
- When setting up a bazaar
- During gathering
- During synthesis

- An issue wherein a player would be unable to progress with the quest "Futures Perfect," if they join a party during the cutscene has been addressed.

- An issue wherein a player would be unable to start a levequest if they initiate a teleport at the same time has been addressed.

- Implemented a countermeasure for an issue which prevented players from gaining skill points during battle.

- An issue wherein the FINAL FANTASY XIV client would shut down when a player adds or removes a new party member has been addressed.

- An issue wherein players would take damage when executing a macro command for an area of effect action that is centered on themselves has been addressed.

- An issue wherein messages in tell, party, or linkshell chat would not go through properly has been addressed.

- Implemented a countermeasure for an issue where an item would not display properly under a certain condition.

- A rare issue wherein an item data would get corrupted during a server outage has been addressed.
* We have confirmed that if a player attempts to put this corrupted item into their bazaar, it would cause the server to go down. We are currently in the process of addressing this issue, but until then, we have placed a temporarily restriction on these corrupted items which were being sold by certain players. We will be providing an update on this situation once we have a better idea on when the the actual fix will take place. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

- An issue wherein the login queue would not work as intended during server congestion has been addressed.

- Implemented a countermeasure to prevent server outages under a certain condition.

- Other miscellaneous issues have been addressed.
* The previously announced improvements to the market system are currently in the final preparation stages and will be ready by the version update next week. Please keep an eye out for future announcements regarding this matter.
- Class skill points (experience gained for your weapon class) are not calculated properly through the course of a battle. [High]
- Players are unable to receive class skill points from monsters in a party of three or more members, even when skill ups are outputted to the chat log. [High]

Critical Bug Announcement:
- While transferring items from your inventory/bazaar/retainer that exceed the cap, you will lose that set of items without notification. [Urgent]
For example: Moving 300 earth shards to your retainer who already has 999 (cap) of earth shards. You will lose the 300 earth shards.

- Chat resetting every time a synthesis command is inputted. [High]
- Occasionally other player's names do not show up above their head. (In party & outside) [High]
- HP/MP bar 'glitches' to show ???/??? for fellow party members, even if they are standing right next to you (not zoning). Under certain conditions, this makes them untargetable.[High]
- Scrolling through inventory is not fluid. Often resets to random parts of the inventory. [High]
- Items do not stack properly in inventory, leaving multiple sections of the same item taking space. Occurs more frequently when trading items between a Retainer. [High]
- Enemies often go 'unclaimed' mid-battle thus resetting the experience and skill gained throughout the fight. [High]
- While killing mulitple enemies with area of effect spells and abilities, experience or items are recieved only from one enemy. [High]
- When in a party and no one is engaged, trying to perform any action (change jobs, log out, disband) fails with the error "Party must disengage." [High]
- Auto-translate does not add items you have recently inspected or obtained. [High]
- In any levequest where an enemy will transform into another type, if the original enemy type is to aggro rather than the player attacking it, it does not transform as intended. The player will also be unable to kill the enemy as it's HP stays frozen at 1%. [High]
- Retainers able to be summoned outside of the market wards in certain situations. (Ul'Dah) [source] (http://img816.imageshack.us/img816/772/retainer.jpg) [High]
- When a player switches between different Disciplines of the Hand classes, upon approaching an interaction point, for several minutes the error message "Action cannot be performed at this time" is displayed, regardless if there is other players interacting with the point or not. [source]

- There is an issue with trading four item at once, message saying 'Trade complete,' but the corresponding items not showing up in either player's inventories; trading the same items only two items at once works properly. [Low]
- When a linkshell emblem is changed, the Founder of the linkshell resets to the player that is second slot on the linkshell roster until both players log in and out. [Low]
- Selling items to a vendor NPC isn't always successful. [Low]
- Cool down timer on the action bar will often appear as 'ready' then jump back to the previous cool down timer until you switch action bars then back again. [Low]
- Once a shield is equipped, the game automatically makes you equip "guard". The user is also unable to switch it's position on the action bar or assign it to a new location. [Low]
- Being able to shop in other player's bazaars, but being too far away to purchase an item. [Low]
- Weaving Guild (Ul'Dah) door often does not open until you log out of the game. [Low]
- Guardian's Aspect appears to have no effect during Fishing levequests that involve inspecting "Promising Fishing Points." Fishing skill text turns green as there is a bonus, but no catches yield any more experience or skill. [Low]
- Auto-run stops functioning intermittently. Auto-run for some users, opening menus such as inventory causes their character to run in a circle. [Low]
- When eating small foods (ingredients, meats, etc) you are given a message saying how it tastes and indicating that you are "well fed." However, when eating cooked/prepared meals are consumed no message is displayed other than the generic printout of "well fed." [Low]
- In heavily populated areas, players' names become '_pc########' for a second before the proper name finally appears. [Low]
- Macros do not activate in sequential order or do not display properly in the chat log. [Low]



Control Bugs:
- Cannot toggle on auto run while typing. (Keyboard & Controller) [High]
- Unable to run and browse another player's bazaar simultaneously, yet you are able to check another player while running. [High]



Graphical Bugs:

- Weapon skill animations not displaying after being executed. [High]
- During the course of battle, various animations tend to overlap with each other. Even though the action is represented in the chat log and recast timer reset, your character's position will often be displaced, interrupting the Marauder class's Steadfast ability. [High]

- When doing a long chain of equip change macros while moving, pieces of armor/weapon separate from the body for a few a seconds while the user's character keeps running. [Low]

- Tree foliage shimmers while the camera is moving on certain hardware configurations. [Low]
- Graphical stutter when approching the door at the Ferry Docks (Thanalan side) [Low]

- When using Aegis Boon; monster animations aren't displayed properly, yet are represented by text in the chat log. [Low]



Client Bugs:

- The client can't recreate the DirectX device after Ctrl+Alt+Del & other Windows commands. [High]
- Client updater taking more processing power than needed. [High]
- Receiving a black screen after the Square Enix logo in windowed mode only. [High]

Is it too widely known/accepted about the XP/SP bug in parties (with 4+ people) to count it as a game bug in your list? Not getting XP/SP on leve mobs and XP mobs when you have more than 3 people is down right stupid.

Also, I was wondering if that damn client bug was just me.. now I know I'm not the only one who can't use windowed mode -_-;

Just a quick warning:

This thread is not for discussion or fixes you would like to see in the future. Keep that in the appropriate threads: "Random Discussion", "Random Bitching", and "Things You Would Like To See In the Future".

State the bug you encounter, any possible workarounds/etc and leave it at that.

You have been warned. Do NOT derail this.

Edit: You should add the party skill up bugs. That is a big one.

That would be something for the other thread. And yes, that is a problem for many people.

Not so much a bug as it is a huge design flaw, but.. because the client uses over 100k files that are under 4kB (the default HDD sector size), you end up losing 400MB of HDD space for no reason, and subsequently you get a lot more HDD thrashing (which causes stutters when lots of textures/models/etc are being loaded). Some indexed repository file a la GCF or PAK would be far superior. So maybe it (the stuttering?) is a bug after all.

When moving an item that you can only hold one/stack of (IE: Shards/Crystals) from/to your inventory/bazaar/retainer, you will lose that item.
For example: Moving 300 earth shards to your retainer who all ready has 999 earth shards, you will lose the 300 earth shards.
There is no confirmation/warning.

When pressing the 'Target nearest N/PC' button, it randomly causes the action bar not to stay up, change target (tab), cancel target (esc), and sub-target self (cure) during battle stop working, and probably outside of battle too. This goes away when pressing the button again.

Id think this was on purpose, but it doesnt always happen, maybe 5% of the time when I press F8 to target the nearest monster.

Not getting skill gained from mobs when it shows u getting skill during the fight.
Mobs randomly resetting / regening when pulled 3 feet from their stationary positioning.
Not getting skill from mobs period, u should never kill a mob & get 0 skill when u perform multiple actions on said enemy (though this may be more of a complaint & is prolly intended by SE).
Also, it's not just the door in gridania, all doors seem to have issues opening.
Only being able to open the action bar by targeting something and pressing action button / enter (wasn't this way in beta, there was an actual action button in addition to it.

the strafe buttons do not work properly. While not auto-running, the turn buttons and the strafe buttons make you strafe. While auto-running, the turn buttons and the strafe buttons make you turn.

- Items will hit the inventory and not auto-stack. Leaving multiple selections of the same item taking up space. Usually happens when using Retainer.
- Skill is occasionally not adding up properly. Got 130 then 134 skill on the same mob during a leve and ended up getting on 130.

~Not being able to see where your linkshell members are when looking under linkshell menu.
~No way to sort inventory.

Not big things but location and organization for linkshells helps us out and we could use help by making it easier communicating to others where they are. The number grid is fine on the map but somewhere on the map should say your current pos and give back our <pos> command. It worked well inf FFXI.

Not sure if it was just lag, but after teleporting to an aetheryte, my character can't move at all until the teleport animation plays at that end, so if it's laggy (which it always is) I'll be standing around for 30 seconds with my character loaded but locked in place until the tele animation goes off and I can move again.

Under certain conditions, other players' (random ones) names do not show on the screen and (if they are in your party) their hp/mp bar displays as empty bars. They are unable to be targeted by tabbing. If you target them with a mouse and try to check them, the game actually crashes. This seems to happen very often in high traffic areas such as levequest locations. I would consider this an urgent bug.

CTRL+R should use the name you received the last tell from, not the name you sent last tell to.

Players just barely inside of a zone will have their names grey'd out for a very long period of time after you've actually entered the zone they are in, making it impossible to check them or their bazaar until you run halfway into the city, hear the music start, then turn back and hope they're still there.

And it rains inside the covered bridges/tunnels entering Gridania.

I dunno anyone else who has this glitch BUT:

I have an issue where randomly my auto translate stops working for gear you have to see recently. (ie I gotta look at a maple wand before I try doing "mapl" then tab for it to be on the list).

I'll look at the item, examine it, equip it, do everything, but can't auto translate. This will happen to all items.

The only fix I can do is to completely quitting the game, then logging back in from the start.

Also, about 75% of the time I tab out of my windowed XIV, upon tabbing back to it, my 3rd-person camera becomes locked to a position directly behind my character. It's easily undone by moving the camera manually, but it locks most of the time for no reason known to me.

-Macro lines don't fire in sequential order, or if they do, they don't display properly in the log.
-Today after being logged in for 4-6 hours, I switch from a Working Class (i.e. Carpenter, smithing, botany) to an adventurer class (pug, gld, con) but my menu continued to to show the "synth" option when i pulled it up.
I changed out every piece of gear manually, attempted to use my macros, which seemed to function in the chat log, but would not change my equiped action. actually changed to gld and started a leve, which i proceeded to get killed at because I couldn't swing my sword, or get the interface to acknowledge that I had changed classes. Not sure if this is a repeatable thing or just something to do with my hardware /shrug

Likely not a bug as there are a half dozen reasons that this would happen. For instance(most noticeable occurrence for me), healing skill isn't given when the mob dies.. but rather when combat is over. So you can get a million healing points while fighting one of two mobs.. and feel shafted when the first mob dies and you end up with nothing. When the second dies, and combat drops, that's when this skill is tallied. If you're not paying attention at that point you may think you were shorted.

Adding to the list:

- Leash-healing. If you pull a mob too far outside of its 'zone', it will try to reset and regen HP in the middle of combat.
- Cast bar not functioning properly. Sometimes it animates too quickly, sometimes not at all. Other times it will animate as if I'm casting a long spell like stoneskin when I actually did a quick heal... and it will fire in the middle of the bar.

This has happened several times to us:

-When in a party and no one is engaged, trying to perform any action (change jobs, log out, disband) fails with the error "Party must disengage." The only way I've found to be able to even exit the game is to force close it.

Every time I approach the Ferry Docks (Thanalan) gate, I get a full 1~2 second graphic freeze. I always think it's a full-on crash, but then it continues after a second or two.

Also, eating small foods, ingredients and whatnot, you are given a message regarding how good it tastes to your race/clan while cooked/prepared meals yield no message at all other than "Well Fed."

Displaying the game in a 4:3 resolution (or anything not 16:9 basically), will make the cutscenes appear stretched, instead of fitting them to the screen, or at least adding black bars on top and bottom.

And before someone asks why I'm playing on such resolution, it's because I like to multitask, and having the game at 1280x960 gives me enough space (1920x1200 desktop) on the right side and bottom to have more windows been displayed at the same time.

to expand on this, I've fallen off the pavement in LL when zoning in from the ferry, and you can then run around the ocean.

I also encountered this glitch the first time I took ferry from LL. The boat was docked into the docks straight forward instead of on its side and cs I was walking in air along with the other NPCs through the ferry.

Only had this once and haven't tried to reproduce this but,

After DC'ing while in a party. Upon returning, did not rejoin party and party leader had logged off; could not engage a target and got the error message "Could not engage target, party leader in different zone"

Was doing the Gridanian Fighting Fish leve, and when I actually got to the fishing spot with my rod equipped, I didn't get the Fish interaction. Failed the leve, walked around the Black Shroud a bit till I found a river, didn't get one there either until I logged out and back in. It was really annoying, because the leve had a equipment reward I really wanted. :(

Also, teleported from Thanalan to Gridania, it did the teleport animation and deducted six anima, but didn't actually teleport me. Tried it again and it did, deducting the anima again. :(

After selecting log out, then quit when back on the screen 75% of the time my client will immediately stop working and windows will search for a fix, lol. Never had this until the other day - but now it happens consistently, no ingame crashes - only when trying to quit after logging out.

Unable to detect DirectX device. It periodically booted me, saying that, in Grid and the Black Shroud, but not too badly. Last night it booted me in Grid and now I can't even log in.

Attack animations sometimes move your character. Try playing Marauder and stand still until Steadfast kicks in, then attack a few times in a row. Occasionally the animation will bug out and your characters position will change canceling the Steadfast buff.

Mobs have a tendency to forcefully move your character if they bump into you too. Obviously, these are very minor bugs that only affect the Marauder class. It sucks when you want Steadfast up because it provides some nice bonuses, but your character keeps moving all around without you touching any movement keys.

Surprised it hasn't been mentioned... Quite often ability/action/weaponskill animations will not execute at all. The damage and effects will be in the log, but there will be no animation and you could be left waiting there, assuming it was lag, while you get hit.

cool down time on spells in the action bar will hit 0 seconds then jump back up to their previous cool down time this will keep happening and the spell can not be used unless you switch bars and switch back.

I haven't been able to repeat the glitch, but when I first placed Dowse on my action bar after just learning it, all my actions had no cooldown, allowing me to spam abilities like Dowse and Gulleye constantly... until I changed classes.

Perform tests with multiple variants (windowed, full screen, max/low settings, and so on), ask other people if they are experiencing the same issue, make sure it hasn't already been addressed by the development team, and, most importantly, make sure you aren't just making a mistake.

Sorry, the icons for the quest and map markers are still wrong, but we found a way around it. I posted about it in the quest thread. Not sure if it's worth posting about incorrect quest marker placement but I can repost about that if you'd like.

Recently I got a bug where I'd see during battle that I was receiving Conjurer Skill Points, but at the end of the battle, I'd get my XP reward, but not receive the Conj points. This was also reflected in my xp bar (no change). It happened 6 or 7 mobs. It fixed itself when I logged out and back in. Was not able to reproduce (thankfully?), but while it was happening, I was able to confirm that it was not just tallying healing skill for multiple mobs, etc. If I went and attacked a single mob (a marmot, for example), I'd get something like 30, 34, and 33 points, but then receive no points once battle concluded.

I indeed confirmed that it was adding to my total without a message while on a melee because I ranked up with no text indication of receiving Skill Points. I'm not sure whether I earned the EXP that didn't show up along with it. I have no experience with it regarding mage classes at all.


Basically, to break it down...

I was very quickly killing Snapping Shrews (I think) at Rank 14 Pugilist in a cave in the Black Shroud.

I was getting a consistent ~50 Skill Points per battle, usually in increments of +12.

I checked my Rank/Level, and noticed that I was only about 2 mole kills from ranking up as PGL. Less than 100 Skill Points from Rank-15.

I killed a mole and saw normal amount of Skill Points earned during the battle: received skill/exp message as normal.

I killed another mole and saw normal amount of Skill Points earned during the battle: received no message at all.

I killed another mole and saw normal amount of Skill Points earned during the battle: received no message at all.

I began wondering when I was going to rank up... and had assumed I wasn't getting Skill Points when there were no messages.

I killed another mole and saw normal amount of Skill Points earned during the battle: received skill/exp message as normal.

I knew I should have ranked up by then.

I checked my Rank/Level and saw I had actually Ranked up to 15.

I had missed the sound+animation+dialog, which was unlikely since I was waiting for it so I could hurry and continue my storyline quests.

I checked the log and found no text indication whatsoever that I hit Rank-15 Pugilist.

-Once a shield is equiped, the game automatically makes you equip "guard". Not a major problem except for the fact that I can't switch it's position on the action bar. Nor-re-equip it in a new location, then un-equip it in the old.
Very lame when setting up macros and the game randomly decides to put guard in a new location :(

You wont receive any class skill sometimes from mobs when in a party of 3+ even when you receive skill ups during combat. It seems to get worse the more party members as well. Very annoying bug because of the fact they seem to be promoting party play right now...

Edit- I know it says that the skills are not being calculated correctly on the list, but it doesn't really give any details. Might help if the list is going to SE.

I've sent mine when I first started the thread. It would be a smart idea for everyone to submit this thread to SquareEnix customer support. Most of you played FFXI, you would know that stuff got done when we submitted bugs to the development team (i.e.black belt guy). It can't hurt, it takes 5 minutes, do it.

In any leve where a mob will transform into another mob, if the original mob type is aggro and you aggro it by sight instead of via attack, it does not transform if it is supposed to. You'll be able to fight the mob til it has 1 HP and never be able to kill it. To fix this you either have to die and run back to the mob and attack it to make it transform or reset the mobs and reengage them to force transformation.

Just awful.

Do you mean when the log actually says "The mining point collapses" etc? or do you just mean it stays visible even after you are finished because that is what is is supposed to do.

For me, the (!) appears immediately when I switch from class to class. I just get the "Action cannot be performed at this time" for several minutes. It's also intermittent; sometimes I am able to switch and perform immediately...

I did encounter changing to Goldsmith (after I had stupidly paid the 200 gil facility usage charge at Camp Bentbranch) and had to wait several seconds for the Synthesize ability to become available.

I came across an interesting Bug today while partying. When I attempted to "spam" Light Swing as my MRD I was missing out on Class EXP I had gained throughout the fight.

When I tried letting my animations completely load before moving to the next one. It solved the issue.

However, it seems faulty that I could simply negate class EXP owned my "spamming" Light Swing.

For the switching classes dealy, I always get a delay when I switch on DOL classes for about 10-15 seconds before I can perform an action. I think this is just normal delay when changing. It's never happened for multiple minutes.

Not sure if this was mentioned yet, but sometimes after switching classes abilities will not display properly on the bar. For example, switching from armorsmith to pugalist results in Pebble Throw icon still in the #1 slot. Also related, when this happens all other abilities cannot be changed out. You can remove them, but not change them. When you go to try to swap locations for it, they will say that XXX ability is equipped already. When you go to use the action in combat, it will refuse to do so. Restarting the game will fix this though.

Is it too widely known/accepted about the XP/SP bug in parties (with 4+ people) to count it as a game bug in your list? Not getting XP/SP on leve mobs and XP mobs when you have more than 3 people is down right stupid.

I almsot feel its a bug to have a "yellow" con monster to give me near 30 H2H skill points (no one else has touched it/it didn't reset moving around) guess its something telling me to do party play with a healer and fight something hard enough to hit me 200+ (but then I won't be even to do damage.. wut?)

also the exp from crafting feels... maybe to good, I'm sure SE will be nerfing it at some point, because it gives like 3-4X the "class" exp compared to going out killing stuff
for example a craft 250 exp is like 800-900 physical exp, but combat exp 200-250 is like 300

Attack animations sometimes move your character. Try playing Marauder and stand still until Steadfast kicks in, then attack a few times in a row. Occasionally the animation will bug out and your characters position will change canceling the Steadfast buff.

Mobs have a tendency to forcefully move your character if they bump into you too. Obviously, these are very minor bugs that only affect the Marauder class. It sucks when you want Steadfast up because it provides some nice bonuses, but your character keeps moving all around without you touching any movement keys.

What am I invisible :cry:

Strange Linkshell bug we encountered in my Linkshell the other day...

The Situation:
-I am a normal member
-Friend is Linkshell Leader
-Friend decides to change Linkshell Emblem to something different
-Friend then immediately pearls another member

The result (Spoiler'd for Huge)

Apparently doing so causes the person above the Linkshell leader to become the new Linkshell leader? Anyone else want to try this?

When both people log out, it resets but it was still weird.

I started noticing this bug last night and I didn't see it doing a quick browse through the list. I'm pretty consistently CON in my party and without fault at some point in the night during exploring/griding/leves peoples name will start showing up as:

as if the person is in a different zone. This is annoying because I don't have any way to see if they're close to dying without targeting them, and that's a pain in the ass in its own right as if I press up for quick target on myself, hit cure, and then start targeting party members, the target won't swap.

Worse off is the new bug I started encountering yesterday where it shows up as dead:

This, as some people suggested, might have to do with the game appears to be "Peer-to-Peer" connections. If that's true, it means you're not connecting to them properly and therefore can't target them. I really hope that it isn't that way because it seems like an awful way to do things.

Two more for the list:

1. Selling items to the npc does not always work. When you click on the final 'sell' button, it just sits there. Sometimes closing all the menus and retrying works, but a lot of times it does not. I often had to resort to simply discarding items because I couldn't sell to the npc. Many linkshell members were also having the same problem.

2. At one point last night, my linkshell members and I were all able to see someone else's retainer standing at the 'call retainer bell' right there in the Adventurer's Guild in Ul'dah. (pretty sure the retainer's owner was standing there interacting with it) I was even able to target the retainer and browse its bazaar. I didn't try buying anything but it would have probably worked.

bug I got last night is an issue trading with another player.

They were trading me 4 items to synth for them. I had 50/80 inventory they had like 45/80 inventory.

we tried trading the items 3 times, each time it said "trade complete". But it didn't actually go through and the other player still had the items.

eventually we tried trading two at a time and it worked.

Only time I've gotten this bug though.

Banish and Scourge debuffs don't actually do anything. Can be tested by repeatedly casting one or the other on the same monster, the damage remains consistent. The same goes for applying Scourge and then using Damnation; no damage increase.

I'm theorizing that this is because astral and umbral damage don't exist, only the six basic elements. A popular database website lists Scourge, Bio, and other dark spells as something like 33% earth, 33% water, and 34% ice. Possibly this is the type of damage 'umbral' spells do, but I guess we have no way to find out.

Just to clarify - I was still able to damage the mob but it remained yellow while I was in battle with it.

I see this happen on almost every single leve I've been a part of.

Also, if you try transferring shit and moving around too fast on your retainer you can make it wig out and all the retainer windows go away and your retainer is still there. Could be how the above poster could see someone's retainer at the bell. Also, I lost a stack of moko grass mid transfer when this happened. Was in LL adventurer's guild.

Also, all of the loot that dropped from the mobs in the PT, only I could see in the loot list. The PT leader could not see the items in the list (according to him). I tried to hit "Distribute" and then I clicked on his name - but all of the items still fell to me.

Chatmodes other than say and shout do not work for some people. I logged in at Bloodshore yesterday and everyone else there had the same issue, though moving throughout the world didn't seem to improve things. My LS friends have no problems though.

Encountered a door bug in LL last night. I was running through Thundersticks and was trying to exit out the W door by Bango Zango. The Door would open but I was unable to cross the threshold, my character would run in place as if I was running into a closed door/wall. When I backed away the doors would slam shut, there was no smooth animation. Other people were able to enter and exit without issue but I would just be running in place. I had to go to the Inn, take the lift down, run the long way around up the stairs to get to Bango Zango and enter the door that way. Once I had gone through it the problem was resolved.

The skill bug while in parties of 4-5+ people is probably the worst bug in the game by far currently. This actually stops your leveling progression.

I lost around at least 8000 skill points tonight while partying. It effects gladiators a lot more then other classes. Having 2 or more gladiators seems to bring the bug on more. Me and the other gladiator seemed to alternate getting no skill at the end of the fight, but we saw are points show up in the log while fighting.

I definitely noticed that auto-run as well as move left/right (steering while in auto-run) either get stuck or are completely unresponsive for a few seconds while pulling up menus like inventory or gear.

I'm not sure if this would classify as a bug but it sure doesn't seem right.. macro lines execute at a pace of about 1 line per second. Compared to the macro speed of FFXI, the current speed is just.. wrong.

And as these bugs pile up (along with stuff that needs to be implemented), I am really starting to wonder how (and IF) SE is going to fix/implement all this.

Example I just killed 8 Thistletail Marmots at the same time by repeatedly casting AoE Scourge on one.

Five died on one cast, three died on the next cast. Each time one died, I got a 'The thistletail marmot is defeated' message, but no items or EXP. When the one I was targeting died, I got regular EXP and items from it.

I'd like to comment on this as well. The responsiveness of the macro, as well as the Ctrl + R, systems is completely ridiculous. I have to jam my keys like 10 times, before the server maybe decides to execute my command.

System is similar to XI in the sense that you do not get EXP etc from a mob that has its name Yellow, and while mob stay red during leves, [they turn yellow soon as you kill one of them thus completely resetting accumulated skill so far.] <<<<<<<<< Bug

I already sent a bug report to SE for this one but my Triangulate II and Arbor Call II do not have cooldowns. Course that means I can spam Triangulate II and get nearly infinite quick in any area with grade 2 or less trees. Don't even know how to replicate it so don't even ask.

Conversely, my mining equivalent skills have cooldowns. I usually guesstimate 25 sec after I lose the Quick buff to hit triangulate again.

Also, some mobs I've engaged will fight me for a bit, then turn around and forget about me until I hit them again. During this time, they'll regen HP back to full. Even if I keep spamming my basic attack as fast as I can, it can deaggro and regen to full in a second between attacks.

I think it's SUPPOSED to fail if your durability hits 0 regardless of the progress percentage. Doesn't make much sense, I know.

On a death related issue.

Encountered a bug where, if you manage to time a cure spell right, you can apparently revive someone who dies shortly before. It seems the cure needs to land shortly after their HP hits 0 and the death animation starts. Was able to replicate this 3x in a row on friend while trying to do leves harder than we should have.

Will try to get a video of it in action.

Also note, it does give the penalty debuff for death when doing it. Managed to get friends stats pretty low after reviving him those three times.

If you're spearfishing some point in some shallow waters and you have a number of attempts left, and you accidentally pull out your fishing rod, you just forfeit the rest of your attempts at that spearfishing location.

I got one with a almost 5k guild marks for THM as reward. My Thm is rank 17. Did the quest with friends, was quite easy. was completly on thm for the leave.

and now guess what: got 0 guild marks after completing the quest

friends think its because my thm is only 17, and 30 leaves you need to be 23. Ok not a problem, but WHY THE FUCK offer thm guild marks for 30 leaves when thm is 17 and needs to be 23... i hope all the SE donks burn in fire for the bs the keep doing

This happens to me on a regular basis. I get offered Marauder and Gladiator (both of which are rank 10) marks when I'm on Pugilist ( Rank 18 ). You have to have it as the main job to receive the rewards. Basically...if you accept it then you're getting no reward unless you do it on that job. Not a bug so much as the randomizer being terrible or Square not bothering to check your job when you accept leves.

I've been able to replicate this several times as well was just about to come here to post it. It is rather convenient when you're out in the middle of nowhere and the run is pretty far.

I have a bug that I haven't seen posted anywhere else. It's with the installation of the game. Everytime I try to install the game it gives me an Error saying that dx3d9_41.dll is not designed to run on windows or it has an error on it. It then prompts for the directx download that process and updates. But it goes back to the select a language screen and repeats the same error. I've went in on the disc directly and taken of the dx3d9_41.dll file and copied it into the Systen32 folder but still no luck... I've also installed the game on my wife's laptop and copied it across the network onto this computer but it still gives me the same error when I try to run the game. I'm out of ideas. The computer is running windows 7 home premium with a ati radeon hd 5450 1gb graphix card, while my wifes laptop is the same expect its using a ati 512 card. If anyone has an ideas that could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Found an interesting one last night:

Sometimes party members don't show up with names and no HP or MP in the party list. Well if you happen to target them (using up/down on your D-Pad for example) then check them, it causes the game to crash. Did it three times last night to make sure it wasn't just a fluke and happens every time... Yay...

It splits your gains into Damage and Healing. If you count it separately it'll add up. Both should be added to your TNR.

Is this fixed for next patch? Cause I'm still experiencing the bug on Conj/Thaum. I can replicate it every single time I do a fight. I'll open up menu and see "1275/7300" for Thaum, and after finishing a fight chatlog shows a gain of 26 + 30 + 56 thaum skill points. Open menu again, and now at 1331/7300. Noticed it for the first time last night in a party where the ratio was much worse (said I gained 351 class points, but was only credited for 64 of that).

This does not appear to happen on crafting/gathering.

I also had a problem with the 'lost skill points' fix. I had at least one occasion where I got 0 skill points after a fight with a group of 5. Also, on several fights, the skill/xp popped up a good 15-20 seconds after the mob died. I guess properly parsing data is just as hard as writing a sort function.

Sometimes the teleport menu/option simply disappears (the one you get when interacting with a mini-node after completing a leve) while interacting with it. We've only seen it happen with lv30 leves which start at the small nodes, not the big crystal. It seemed like it might have happened when the person who started the quest warped out and someone else wasn't done choosing an option. But we haven't had a chance to try to reproduce the problem. But we did experience it on two different occasions.

Two more:

1. While fighting, if you start spamming different moves, the stamina bar goes stupid, for the lack of a better word, and actions do not register or go off VERY slowly. I have to 'baby' it and press 1 button at a time for it to not freak out of me. Other people in the LS have experienced the same problem too. I don't know if this is just a case of 'you're holding it wrong' but jesus christ is it fucking annoying.

2. The action bar changing between jobs need to be fixed PROPERLY. If you switch to a job of lower rank, the actions near the end of the bar are unequipped due to you not having enough max action points to equip them. Then when you switch back, those actions have to be re-equipped. It should fixed properly so that every job has their own set of actions that are saved and restored in full when switching between jobs. LOGIC, WHERE?

@2 I blame this on SE's half assed implementation of how inter-job macros worked. If they had just made it so that each job had it's own macros saved then we wouldn't have this problem. Pretty much forced to have a "clear all" macro right now just to make sure everything is loaded properly on job change.

Marauder ability Disorient is a good candidate for "most glitched ever" award: more than half the time it just uses the stamina (and cooldown timer starts ticking) and nothing happens, no animation, no fail message, nothing. It happens randomly, spamming actions or not does not matter, full/empty stamina bar neither, nor moving or standing still or direction/facing, I tried everything.
I'm sure it doesn't work because it inflicts a debuff on the mob (like DNC steps) and I've seen this effect wear right after one glitched use.

Here's the story... he was out grinding mobs, and when he killed one a message popped up stating that he had learned a mob ability. I forget which one he got first, but after that with each mob he killed he got a new ability. Some of them included things such as 1000 Needles, and Stone Gaze. All of the attack/debuff abilities were 100% functional (these are what is shown in the video), though they have no attack animations and almost all of them have a set TP cost of 1000, with varying cast times. Self buffs and such were not functional. After we made the video, my friend submitted a report and shortly later errored out of FFXIV. When he logged back on, the abilities were gone. We thought a GM had done something, but when he logged on today 1000 Needles was back. Obviously, it's incredibly OP as you can see at the end of the video when we get and add and he nearly 1shots both of them with it (damage is NOT divided amongst targets, but the ability can miss), and the temptation to use it is there but he is refraining because he'd rather not get banned. He's submitted at least 2 more GM calls asking them to do something about it, but has received zero response. I just hope they don't just ban his account or something... even if it's an incredible fluke this a pretty severe bug.

Also, he was a lazy ass and didn't stop recording the whole time so there are no cuts in the video, sorry. ><

Right, the legit part of the bug and what I have an issue with is that players should NOT even have the option to try to use different ingredients in the UI during a specifically assigned task where they are given exact materials. It's obvious that all kinds of unexpected behavior can happen once you start swapping out materials (after confirming you're going to make it and having the required materials auto-load). Wouldn't exploit something like that if that's what was implied. I'm a game author and QA bug tester IRL.

I'd call it a lag related bug. But then, in beta at times when it was less crowded, the casting bar didn't work properly. It's also displaying the spell currently highlighted in your action bar instead of the spell you're really casting.

i hate this, i dont even watch the stamina bar anymore because i get confused everytime i look there. If you dont use a gamepad in this game everything seems to work against you.

Saw this same bug again several times more. It was NOT caused by the quest-activator using node the complete the quest. A person would randomly get stranded when everyone else warped out. It happened to me again last night, and I was the one who activated the quest (not even linked with anyone).

I came across a weird situation yesterday where I was done exploring Mhor Donia (spelling?) and my linkshell mate stayed up there to attempt to flag another camp after I left. I headed to Camp Horizon to attempt to complete a leve before the reset today.

With him still in the party, I did the leve where you've got to fight the Wights and noticed that I could not retain TP at all (even a low amount like the 250 you'd need for Second Wind). I'd hit the enemy and the TP would generate but it would decay at an incredible rate; the fights also would not give XP or class rank points until I dropped him from the party (I had initially forgotten he was in party because 30 mins had passed already and I picked up my leves and ran to Horizon).

I'm also FURIOUS when I'm doing combat and the targeting messes up to the point where it autoselects targets depending on the direction you face and you are unable to lock anything (making self healing kinda difficult too). I'm not sure how often I'm hit with this, but I almost expect to get fucked by it every time I kill an enemy an it takes a sec to "die" serverside.

not really a bug but if you start a leve for marks and change classes you will get 0 marks even if you change back.

My experience is at the lv30 camps if someone warps back to a main node (like Horizon instead of Nophica's Wells), the node will disappear and no one else will be able to port. On top of that, me and a friend ported to Black Brush from Nanawa at the exact same time and he was ported and I was not, even though I selected it from the option before the node bugged/disappeared.

Was he the party leader? You cannot claim a mob if the party leader isn't near thus not getting xp or skill from the fight. Another side effect is that you aren't really "in combat" and you lose TP as if you were in passive mode.

If you try to repair something in someone's bazaar and they teleport before you finish it, it cause you to be frozen in the repair animation and causes the other person to crash. I had to alt+f4 to fix my character.

I've actually done that and gotten marks weird, it might have to do w/ how much time is spent on teh wrong job.

If you party with an Archer, every time they use Refill, you will get a message saying you loaded your quiver with arrows. Same thing happens when they use Multishot, it states that you knocked an arrow.

It's just a text bug, but it;s annoying.

bug: The dialog box misspells Crakows as "Crackows" when you equip them. At least for Leather Crakows (Black).

Was hit with the bug where changing your class doesn't actually process fully. The one where it never updates your skill bar, but the game acts like it has and you have to log out to fix it.

Didn't realize it happened and went to gather up four Local Levequests. After accepting all four I check my Journal and two had disappeared. Logging out and logging back in took care of it. Was really confusing at first, until I realized what had happened.

I ran into a bug last night while doing my MRD Rank20 quest. I went to the instance area and it said that I had to reform my group because only one person is able to enter. I wasn't in a PT so I didn't know wtf was going on, but logging out and back in worked :s

During the quest "Never the Twain Shall Meet" from Limsa Lominsa main plot story line, the quest target enemy inflicted me with Skull Sunder DoT effect, I finished the fight and the cut scene started and I had more than 80% of my HP left, apparently the DoT damage carried on during the long cut scenes, seeing how my character came out and dropped dead after it.

Anyone else had this issue?

I'm pretty sure DoTs always stay with you after a fight, even BC-style ones. Or are you saying the bug is that due to the cutscenes, it did not wear off when it was supposed to, causing you to die? Is it possible it was a higher-damage version of the normal skull sunder?

I've had this happen to me quite a bit, I target a mob and cast shock spikes on myself, stamina drops from full to 0, then refills enough to cast shock spikes, the cast goes off, drops back to 0 and then I have to wait for it to completely refill before I attack.

Same thing happened to me. I came out of the cutscene dead, though didn't realize it was from the DoT.

I thought it was them taking the tidal wave scene seriously lol

So there is a thread going on in Core where many posters are saying essentially that all stats are broken except for VIT and MND. They're saying VIT increases HP and MND increases MP and heals, but no gear stats including VIT and MND are having any effect. They're saying 99 INT is the same as 15 INT. What do you guys think; is there any truth to this?

Bug: If you die while in active mode (which would be likely 99% of the time) and then use return, you'll have Fleet of Foot up and running in passive mode. 120% movement speed constantly.

It doesn't wear as long as you don't do a few certain things, like going into active mode, changing classes or equipment, change any actions or traits or, sadly, craft something. Anything else is fine though. Zoning, teleporting, selling and buying items, grabbing leves, checking bazaars, sitting or talking to NPCs. There might be more that cancels it but whatever. This would have been more fun if it was possible to craft and keep it active, but oh well. It being a trait means it never wears, I've had it on for like 4+ hours now.

Keep an eye on the animation speed, it's speed up but it has an actual effect too so it's not just a graphical glitch. Sorry for the shitty quality. The numbers are:



2:55:16 - start with bug active
2:55:55 - end point

= 39 seconds

Changed class to remove bug:

2:56:27 - start with bug gone
2:57:14 - end point

= 47 seconds


Chaossamurai did a test at the same place where he showed Fleet of Foot wasn't working at all, his regular run from the same points were also 47 seconds and active mode was 58.

I know hundreds of people already know about this due to it being that easy to set up, you simply just die and return. But there's a reason why I'm bringing it up. People are going to be annoyed I said anything because it's so handy, but anyone with Fleet of Foot has already known this, unless you haven't died yet. It would have gotten patched eventually, that's just it, this never would have been a secret for long so don't get annoyed I'm reporting it.

But here's where the fun is: because this actually benefits people I'm curious to see something. What will get patched first, this? Or:


* Skill point gain falling off a cliff 20+, making it basically impossible to solo at any sort of acceptable rate
* Skill point gain in groups still don't register for some people after the fight is finished resulting in 0 skill points (pretty sure this isn't completely fixed yet right?)
* Not being able to gain skill points in a group if your party leader is in another zone. It's fun just waiting around doing nothing because one person hasn't arrived yet
* Monsters not spawning in leves resulting in a fail
* Crystals being too rare, making it extremely expensive and time consuming to craft at higher levels to progress
* Weapons degrading at an obscenely high rate and when they get too low affect skill point gain. Can't grind for more than 1-2 hours before needing a repair back in town
* Sickening amount of skill points needed to rank up at later ranks (20+!) that would make any Korean MMO grindfest blush

Edit: I ranted a little bit in relation to the rest and this isn't really the thread for it, so I stuck it in a spoiler. If it needs to be moved I can do that, but I didn't report this bug simply because I came across it, but because I want the way SE handles bugs to be improved. I'm assuming people who work for SE gathering information read this bug thread now and then which is the only reason I've posted, because if this bug I'm reporting does get fixed quickly and stuff being reported on for months isn't I won't tolerate it.

What do all those have in common, aside from the fact they're fairly game breaking and should be fixed way sooner than this bug? They slow down progression. We saw the opposite with the AoE mage exploit to gain fast skill points, and how fast was that patched? How fast was the 3+ people in a group, someone always loses out on skill points fixed? A hell of a lot longer that's for sure. And is it even fixed, I'm pretty sure I heard that it wasn't even after the maint that was supposed to fix it.
FFXI did this too, new method to beat AV? Emergency patch next week. Hundred Fists gave haste for capped Utsusemi casting automatically? That shit's patched in a month. Making a job's name not be preceeded by the letters lol? Years. One still has this problem.

I am sick and tired of SE only doing fast patches when there's some exploit or glitch that benefits players, no matter how minor it is, and stuff that's broken and shitty stays shitty for years if it ever gets fixed. I don't have a problem with exploits having more priority but there's so much stuff that was a problem in alpha that's still in the game right now. There is a ton of stuff I'm forgetting about in XIV that slows player progression down and I know for a fact SE knows about them but is going "Oh no another glitch! Oh wait, that'll slow the players down, that's good! Don't bother fixing it unless way more people complain and subs look like they'll go down."

Here's a hint SE: Happy players play longer than pissed off ones riddled with crap in the form of terrible design and bugs that slows them down. Maybe look into it.

They fixed the mage exploit in a week. No excuse for the dozens upon dozens of other problems that slow players down. Slowing down = good. Benefit or even working as intended = bad. And if that's the way they want to do it, I'm never paying for this game no matter how well SE polishes this piece of shit. You don't keep broken stuff broken because it'll slow players down and they feel it's a good thing, the rate at which they fixed other issues in XIV and XI is enough to show they CAN do quick patches.

If this is fixed before any of those problems listed above, or any others in this thread, I will never give SE a single cent. This is the only place I'm going to post this. Because this benefits people I'm not suprised I haven't seen it on another site yet, but I'm using this to expose SE as they are. Fuck the players, patch exploits in a week, leave stuff that slows people down immensely in tact until the very last moment. I'm not interested, and I've heard this being repeated many, many times by players all over FFXI and FFXIV boards, so I know I'm not alone in being sick of this. If this bug gets fixed before any of the other stuff people have complained about since alpha I'll never touch this game again, I had enough of it in XI and expected them to learn something. Show me what you got SE.

Also if it wasn't obvious to everyone, no one at SE HQ plays FFXIV. How can you play with Fleet of Foot and never encounter this when all you have to do is die and return? Not even testers? No one at SE saw this? Hell the damn thing didn't even work at all before. How the hell can they make such a stupid mistake in the first place? I knew as soon as I got this there would be some way to glitch it and gain faster speeds, but even I didn't think it would be this simple. That's how much faith I have in SE and their dev team, and they delivered. No one at SE tests or plays their game, and I'm not sure why I should pay for a game who's devs or testers don't even log on once to make sure something works.

I had my journal full of local, waited the reset and went to the counter to grab new ones since I didnt want to do those in my journal. But the NPC kept repeating I couldnt get any more Local at the moment.
Does that mean I am FORCED to go and fail them if I want new ones?

yes..

you cant exchange locals so you need to fail or do them to take them out of the leve inventory.

I think the most blatant way to defend a bad designed UI is to bring "assumptions".

But anyway, here's a simple case scenario:

I wanted to try rank15 leves, being myself rank11-12. So I took 1 from Tanner and 1 from Armorer.
Did the Tanner one and found out it was not meant to be as I was failing big times, even with Common support. So i said to myself "Ok, guess I'm biting more than I can chew" and decided it was pointless to do the Armorer one too.
But no, i simply can't drop it.

Either way, available Local Leves are never so so difficult that their materials are not worth using up for the skill/exp, even if you're lacking the appropriate training (recommended facilities are a must). Rarely can you bite off more than you can chew, especially if your gear is up to date.

So I didn't want to create a new topic for this but it seems the stat losses after your gear loses X amount of durability to trigger gear and heavy gear damage aren't reflected at all in your stat screen.

I noticed it as well. This along with stats not reflecting any changes except MP/HP on the stat menu is unsettling. My ATK and ACC are unchanged by no amount of STR or DEX. So, I stopped putting in stats once I had 80 STR, DEX, and VIT.

Anyone else experiencing their shockspikes reflecting 100% damage (sometimes it crits and reflects 150%) back to the enemy? Currently rank 15 conj, rank 11(?) thaum, with both shockspikes and punishing barbs equipped. I don't even use punishing barbs really, especially after seeing my shockspikes reflecting 100%.

This is on my conjurer. Haven't tested on thaumaturge.

It looks something like:

X hits you for 50 damage.
You counter X for 50 damage.
X is stunned.

Pretty sure normal damage for shockspikes is 50 damage or so (baring resists), regardless of what you get hit for.

That would make sense. Maybe it reflects damage up to a certain minor amount. I have been hit for 24 and spikes countered for 24. Then I watched it again and it reflected the 50 for 50, which made me think it was a bug.

That's how it works, I can get hit for 150-200 damage and shock spikes will only deal back 50 or so. For those interested, barbs seems to cap at around 559.

Had this happen to myself, then a LS member about 10min later.

If you're crafting an item per usual (IE: Not for a leve) and someone repairs an item you have in bazaar at the same time you finish your synth (just a guess on the finish, haven't had a chance to check if it'll do it during the middle of the synth as each time it happened we both finished our synth/repair at the same time), you will lose the item you are crafting. You'll get the message "Your loot list is full. Unable to obtain "item name here"." This'll happen even if you have 0 items in your loot list and your inventory has plenty of room. The repaired item is unaffected, its just the newly crafted item that gets lost in the void.

Not defending their design decision, but the above would be even more terrible. It means that once you get close to failing a leve, instead of risk it you would just cancel it and go take another and not have the first one count toward your 8 leves. Not saying what SE did is good, but this is actually also really bad.

That being said, they've said in a recent Ask the Devs I think that with either the coming November Update, or the December update to follow, that you will be able to cancel local leves once you've accepted them. Obviously, it will still count toward your 8 leve limit though. The only purpose of cancelling is as a time saver so you don't have to go through all the synths to fail.

Personally I would rather go through the synths. Who knows, you might succeed one. Even if you don't, it's a free 600-700 skill points even if you fail every one, and if you succeed one or two, you could get as much as 1500 free skill.
