    I hope in a few years they will genetically engineer cats that, fully grown, are only like 3 inches tall so I can place them on my shoulders and put them in my pockets. And they will have squishy bones so that when I accidentally sit on them they will bounce back into shape perfectly fine

    So your girlfriend is wrong and cats should be even smaller. If he is so worried though point out that it is actually a huge cat by showing her the comparative size of the normal cat and duck at its feet.
