how long should loyalty to a LS go?

So here's the premise I'm in a casual guild in FFXIV and the only player currently to play mage as main class. Each saturday or sunday depending on reset we do an event where we do different stuff. These last events(actually most) we've been killing the r50+ nms for weapons and gear. And I've been there every event since the ls was created and to be frank I'm sick of the nms. I've been hinting that maybe someone else should take up mage or start using their mages for events but the players who have mage also either are atm on a vacation for 6 weeks or in us time and thus can't always show up(we're an mainly EU shell).

I've been doing these nms to help out ls the but we're down to some members needing their second or third weapon. And since I only play mage these things have never had anything I needed or wanted.

So heres my dillema I'm so sick of these nms I might just uninstall the game but if I stop doing event it'll be hard for the LS to do any nms at all. I like these guys a lot and would hate to screw them up but I'm just so sick of the current "endgame".

Fuck that, if you're not having fun just stop playing. There's no need for you to force yourself to have a bad time for being 'loyal' to your friends on a video game. If they can't understand then they weren't really your friends to begin with.

I'm all for being loyal to your friends, but at this point it sounds like they're just exploiting you. If no one else wants to pick up the slack, it's not your problem. It's the same idea as the poor BRD in XI that was never allowed to come to any event on any other job because no one else in the LS would level/play BRD. Tell them you're sick of it and want to play something else or take a break from the events. If they're good friends/a respectable LS they'll understand. And honestly, unless you're rocking a +2 of the NM weapon, it's better to just save up and get a +2 of a normal crafted R50 weapon anyway.

Or you could just do like seemingly half the populace does and pick up 7 more LSes and just roll with the one that suits you that day...

I think you should suck it up. It clearly helps you in keeping a positive outlook for the game's future, so it's only a matter of time until things get better. The other option is to move on and perhaps play the game later without this overwhelming optimism of yours which might even make it an actually enjoyable experience. But that's by no means a good option, since you would be missing out on all this fun you have had so far. And if the game doesn't get better, and is shut down, you couldn't go back to the good ol' days and would instead have to find out other, obviously less entertaining ways to fill up your schedule.

But it is indeed a tough decision to make. Countless people have the same fate. "Do I give up drinking and thus betray my fellow alcoholic friends? Or should I keep drinking instead?"

what garbage advice

real advice: If you don't enjoy the game then tell em your going to stop playing. The only dick move is bailing w/o saying anything if they are your friends. If not your friends then just bail w/o saying anything lol. But if you tell em your not having fun and no longer want to play the game / that class, then they need to consider how you are feeling and take measures accordingly. there is NO reason you should ever play anything that you have such negative feelings towards. This is a video game, ppl play video games because they are fun and/or an escape. If you are miserable then you should of stopped playing before you got to that point

lol, I think you missed a heavy dose of sarcasm.

Addiction is addiction, and his analogy is pretty damn good. Keeping on doing something that makes you feel bad because you want the approval of other people who encourage you to do things which make you feel bad? Fuck man, whether it's drinking, making fun of an uncool kid, or playing an MMO, it's all the same. You don't need the approval or "friendship" of people like that, they're just using you.

OP, If you like them, you'll tell them that you're fed up. If they're worth caring about, at least one of them will level a job so you can have a change of pace. And if they tell you to seriously "suck it up", then tell them to get fucked and move on, because they're not worth spit.

Do what makes you happy. I had a similiar issue a long time ago in XI with WHM/BRD. If the group isn't willing to rotate (the DD onry idiots) then you need to find a new group or force them to rotate. It's not fair for one person to be stuck on the boring job 24/8.

I don't know if I believe in true guild loyalty, at least not in name. It is best to be loyal to people, but being there for yourself is most important at the end of the day. I'm not referring to selfishness either. If you don't take care of yourself then you will burn out and then the guild loses you anyway.

I think end gamers have been feeling this for awhile. So many are on these extended leaves of absence, but then again so are many casuals. It's a problem all around, common, and now you're experiencing it. Anyone who blames you for feeling that way is just accusing you of being human.

Succinctly: if you're not having fun, bow out and take a break.
