Booting Slave drive inside Windows 7

Is there a way to boot a slave drive inside windows 7? I would like to install/reinstall troubleshoot OS boots without needing to entire tower or laptop. Do I need a bios emulator or something to do this?

Would a Virtual Box work for what I am asking?

1. If you're using a physical computer w/ SATA drives, there are no slave drives. Just boot order.
2. Ya a VM with something like Virtualbox sounds like something you'd need if you don't want to use it on a specific computer. That way there's no changing BIOS or anything and it can be used on any computer that can handle VMs.

Running a virtual machine is exactly what you want to do, as said above.

I guess I need to clarify.

I have a hard drive I pulled from a tower. What software would I need to boot that drive inside windows 7.

The Virtual Box may work. I'm still playing around with it.


Edit: Virtual Box worked great. Use the directions in following link to boot to physical drive.

You want to boot it as a VM? If so, you just need to make an .iso image of that HDD.
