The fact you are basing your assumption on how TV makes him "seem" says all you need to know about your credibility and judgement.

He's trying to be a TV host / narrator and so my past TV experience with him is going to make my judgment on him trying to sell this. Don't care for the I'm better then thou attitude I got from him. To me someone who has done a science show host better is Brian Cox from Wonders of the Solar System, now he had a good Carl Sagan vibe to him, humble but passionate. Not judging him as a person but as a host. I'll still give the show a chance.

Happy to see the first trailer for this. I heard about it a while back, and I'm super excited for it now. Also in before MacFarlane haters try to fuck up this thread.

Well, Im basically telling you that you are wrong on every level in your far off base judgement of him. Did you know that there is a link that goes back 40+ years between he and Sagan? How about that Nick Sagan, son of Carl, approached NDT about the possibility of reviving the show not only for his passion, but because they were great, great friends? NDT is good enough for the Sagan family and is a close family friend, but he somehow comes off a smug and "pompous" to you because of how he looks to you? Cmon son, come harder than that shit. I can personally tell you that he isnt like that, in any capacity. As a matter of fact, he is one of the most selfless people that are in this field, hands down.

I agree, I love Brian Cox, but perhaps he didnt want to do it? He's been around forever as well, but he is "new" to the US and you see him a fresh and exciting, which he is by all accounts, but he is nothing like Carl Sagan lol. Cox has GREAT cinematography on both WoSS and on Wonders of Life, which air "new" over here but are actually years old. I mean not sure how deep you go into this, but Alan Guth, Clifford Johnson and Plait are far closer to Sagan-esque passion and explaining if we are going to pick someone to go that route. They stayed away from Theoretical physicists and and drab, monotone musings of Lee Smolin, which is good thing because it can always be worse.

Not sure what your gripe is or why you assume Cox would be better, but I dont get that comparison you made between he and Sagan, seeing as how the two of them are as vastly different as comparing Svein Rosseland to someone like Roger Penrose. Not sure if you see the analogous comparison in that example, but they are that different. No one will and can ever replace what the world lost in Carl Sagan, but you're foolish for thinking NDT is arrogant and pompous lol. I find that hilarious.

I'd love to have some examples cited for this, because this is sooooo far off base that I cant even call you out, seeing as how you're not even in the city in which the ball park resides.

what keeps popping up in my mind was about him removing Pluto from his solar system display, in what ever museum or what ever place he was working in at the time. People complaining to him about it not being there sending letters and him just being like feed me all your hate mail. In all rights he is rite, this was all back when dwarf planets classification was being created. But it just irked me I don't know. I know I'm not astute in the science world, but I do at least like to watch these types of programs, and thats really the only impressions I get, is their TV personas. If I only had that one "bad" impression from that one time I seen the guy yeah... that is what its gonna leave me with. At least its not another Morgan Freeman, or Mike Rowe narration.

Seriously, I have never heard anyone talk anything bad about NDT, so racism is literally the only thing I can think of.

    Basically.

As to his point, as technology advances, we have learned that planetoids such as Pluto, Ceres and Eris arent planets in any capacity. There are lots of them in the outer realms of the solar system Its nothing against Pluto, but he's not as special as the early universe model lead us to believe. Not NDT's fault, science is a fluid and always evolving place and Pluto is where it belongs.

Childhood nostalgia is a bitch. If we simply left things static, antiquated and were afraid of the facts, we would be simply call this religion.

Lol Neil Degrasse Tyson is like the epitome of likeability. Disagree with certain things he says if you want, but the guy is genuine and earnest.
