Can't park on the street overnight without a permit. Landlord never told us, got hit with a ticket after only living there for 2 months. We only get one parking space. Contested it, they still want us to pay. BULL SHIT.

THIS IS MY FIRST TICKET EVER. RRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEE.

And yes I'm aware this doesn't go on my license blah blah blah, it's just the dumbest law I've ever heard and never even knew places did this shit. And I was so proud of never having a ticket. :'(

No joke, part that pisses me off so much about this is that we live on a small dead end street where only the apt people park. When we first came the receptionist told us we get one covered, that there is off-street parking that's first come first serve, but that "it's ok though as there's plenty of parking on the street!" without ever mentioning the law. When I brought the ticket to her she fucking lied to shit being like "oh no I AWLAYS tell people about the law". BS, I think a strange ass law like this would have stuck out to me as I didn't even know those kinds of laws existed. (I'm also that bitch that takes the time to listen to everything, and read every page of the lease slowly no matter how long it takes and no matter how pissed off that makes the office people having to wait. )

You can rent a two-car garage here, but they charge $100 a month for them. I'm more tempted now. What doesn't make any sense is that if you rent it you still get to keep the carport. So you basically get three spaces. It's no wonder the parking is so poor here.

I want to do the second step on contesting it, but I have a feeling I won't win.

For future reference, what other ree-ree LA districts do this as well that you know of? We were already planning on moving closer to Burbank once the lease was up (forever from now but w/e). For sure we'll check ahead of time, but just curious.

It's sad 'cause I really do like covina and kinda wanted to settle here, but fuck that noise. You can't always get a permit in the first place. Law is fucked up.

It's also expensive as fuck.

And we aren't club/active people so not sure what's so much more interesting about Burbank.

Part of this will also have to do with the fact I will have my teaching certificate by that point. With the job market I don't have much hope of getting a full-time job for this coming year, but on the off-chance I get lucky or get a part-time/long-term sub job then we may have to find a good middle ground.
