The guys who made all the Star Wars/Star Trek etc. Plinkett movie reviews have a new web series. It's just a short, simpler way for them to present some reviews on new movies coming out. There's 3 up so far but only one on Youtube, and I don't think BG threads can embed from niche sites.

I really like these guys. While not nearly as over the top as Mr. Plinkett, some of it is still pretty funny while presenting real reviews. The Sucker Punch one is pretty funny in particular.

Damn you, I came in here thinking they may have ninja released the next Plinkett Review on Thanksgiving Night .

I think they would have enjoyed the movie a little more had they read the books (it helps understand what's going on). I think that's the biggest problem with the movies though, as I agree - they're almost too direct a translation of the books and some of the mechanics just don't work well. I agreed with their review for the most part, other than the obvious stuff that required you to read the book or have watched the previous movies to know (like the scene with the vampire girl on the mountain - it's explained in Part 1 why she's there).

Not defending the movies or anything, just saying from a criticism standpoint they probably should have watched the first half at the very least. There's a reason it's called Part 2. It's like watching Return of the King and wondering why Aragorn is kissing this Elven chick.

Their main concern isn't the story, its how it was filmed and how that story is told (its the same idea with watching a foreign film with no subtitles, you get an idea and can comprehend the emotions [Kristen Stewart has no emotions] that the actors portray, which is more effective than probably listening and understanding the schlock they're trying to explain)

Good timing on Netflix.ca to get Titanic on stream. Never seen the film before, and now I have an excuse to do so, for better uh, appreciation of his teardowns.
