What is the difference between a Muslim that believes it is his duty to cause the death of people in order to "defend" his faith and a soldier that believes it is his duty to kill people in a foreign country in order to "defend" his country (i.e. its ideology)? If they both believe that what they're doing is beneficial for humanity and they're both arguably disagreeable positions to hold why is one wrong where the other is correct?
If somebody punched me, and I knew they were probably going to punch me again when I next saw them but instead I saw them and attacked them, could I claim it was defense like Israel does when it attacks people? If this isn't punished by the UN then why would I be arrested for GBH for attacking someone that has previously attacked me and I believe was due to again attack me?
