Windows has detected an IP address conflict

So my PC was working just fine until I left and put it to sleep. I get home and I get this error with my internet connecting and disconnecting over and over again on my desktop that has a Wifi connection. I tried ipconfig/release+renew and I got an error and it wouldn't do anything. I've turned off all the PCs and turned the modem off and on and nothing worked. Anyone able to help me out on this? I don't get how it was working fine and then it just shit all over itself hours later.

Would it help to know that century link sent over a guy who installed a newer modem and set everything up? My PC was connected and working just fine after he installed the new modem and I was browsin the net without any issues. I have no idea what to do and I tried googling it, but it pretty much told me the ipconfig thing and it did nothing. The other PC (the one I'm typing this on) is working just fine though. I'm very confused, HLAP!

Any chance of going into the router and looking to see if the router distributes manual IPs, or random ones (DHCP i think). Don't change anything yet though, as there might be a reason you have manually dished out IPs.

Not messed around with a router for ages, so my knowledge is a little fuzzy.

Set a static IP. There's more than one device trying to use your PC's IP address at the same time.

That won't resolve the problem, i mean setting static works, but if he closed all his PC and he still gets a Conflicting IP problems means someone hacked his WIFI so he should do what The Stig said go in his router and check his DHCP table see who has what address

That can generally happen when it auto corrects itself over time.

Best to leave it alone and forget about it. A person I know would try and fix it and just fuck it all over lol

I'd still set a static IP on your machine outside your router's DHCP range. Really no reason not to
