Greetings!
Bayohne here with Gamescom update number… I’ve lost count.

Everyone’s over in Cologne having a blast, and enjoying the crowds of gamers anxious to play the game, and finishing the day off by eating delicious food and I’m stuck here. I mean, not “stuck here,” but I really am jealous of all that excitement!

The second day of Gamescom brings with it two new videos for you all to enjoy! First up is the second TV commercial that will be airing in Japan called “Million Visions”! After that, take a look at the “Primals Unleashed” video which we’re showing on the stage of Gamescom!

My thoughts exactly. Kind of disappointed they only showed 4 man stuff. But I guess this is the "come do these easy mode things" trailer.

Behemoth being a Primal does seem kinda odd, but remember the 1.0 opening CS? When Ifrit and Titan obviously erupted from the big-ass light, so did at least a couple dozen others. The lore on the Garlean page (I think on the emperor's page?) states that the Garleans started their holy war against Primals after seeing them in the east. Since 5 of the 6 elemental summons are entirely in Eorzea, odds are other Primals will fill out the rest of the world. There are probably a few lesser Primals in Eorzea too.

Why can't behemoth be a primal? Are you under the asumption that primals must have an elemental affinity to be a primal? What about Bahamut? He is the head primal or w/e and has no elemental affinity.


Also note the irony of using Meteor on Behemoth.

Yeah the only consistent thing about Primals is that they are powerful creatures from the Aether who want to suck up as much energy as they can. Yoshi has said that other beastmen will possible get Primals, such as the Mamool-Ja. It's not linked to elemental affinity. The beastmen tribes steal crystals to summon their primals, I don't think they're only picking up Wind Crystals for Garuda. The Primals just want energy. I'm betting the Primals are more similar mechanically to Espers from FF6 than the Avatars of FFXI. Of course they could have just slapped Behemoth into the video, because it's iconic.

And remember, XI had the Terrestrial, non-elemental Avatars. Carbuncle, Fenrir, Diabolos, Bahamut, and Phoenix. All beasts.

When put that way I guess it makes sense. More so given how the worlds of each game are independent of one another. Behemoth a big bad primal? Sure, why not?

Not surprising, seeing as Ifrit was also specifically tuned to E3.

I know it's a primal video but I'm not convinced Behemoth is a primal. I think they just put it there because it's probably the most anticipated FATE after Odin.
