Redskins have been subject to accusations of slander because they use a Native American chief as their logo/mascot and call themselves "Redskins". They lost the rights to use the name after the patent office deemed "Redskins" to be too offensive to trademark.

They didn't actually lose the right to use them, just the exclusivity of the rights... i.e. everybody else gained the right to use them.

Hence South Park being able to straight up plaster their actual name and logo all over an episode that's going to be entirely disparaging to them.

And I'm sure Matt and Trey would absolutely love for them to try suing over it, considering they had stan yelling into a camera at scientologists to try it when they did an episode on them.
