With Obama's recent trip to Kenya, I've seen a rise in articles about the whole continent. Sadly, it is full of vitriol from Africans regarding their hatred towards white people and human rights. It is sad, because it is our own fault for making them feel that way. It does make me wonder if there is anything that could be done to speed up progress on a number of issues.
Two that currently stand out are the comments about homosexuality:

Where African response had been overwhelmingly again "disgusting western ideas."
And a vaccine for malaria:

Where I have seen tons claim it is a white man's experiment to eradicate Africa.
Now, obviously on a social level they are far behind than we are. I think a lot takes exposure. They are still in the mindset that all gays are Satan's deviants. Still bitter of years of being mistreated by America/Europe.
But that doesn't mean gays should have to wait 200 before they are no longer being put into prison.
I do think that maybe Obama's words weren't a smart way to go about it, considering the response. Let's maybe start worth trying to decriminalize it. But how can we do it when they hate us so much?
