Didn't see a thread for it. Delete and exile me if it exists already. Games currently in early access, very polished and enjoyable.
A buddy of mine started hosting a full loot PVP server a couple weeks ago. We got about 8 solid players logging in 3-4 hours a day on average, all new to the game. Server name is Radical Dreamers (search in PVP worlds). I run a discord with the same name that we chat in day-to-day.
Diablo/PoE style gameplay in an iso-metric free camera rotation view (can scroll in/out to an extent to see your sexy or ugly ass vampire if you want).
The game is wonderfully fun. Start out nekkid in a starter area. Learn some basic game mechanics, craft your gear, leave into the giant world map that's broken up into (currently) five(5) zones and start building your empire.
Your Vamps. level is equal to your equipped gear item levels, used as a general gauge on what PvE content you can handle. Gather mats, build a castle, make refinement/crafting stations, craft new gear, level up, and progress through the PVE content. The V-Blood PvE targets to unlock new spells and crafting stations/patterns are all fun mini-mechanic style bosses. All have very easy learning moves and a 50% attack that changes up the pace of the fight.
I wasn't so sure about the gathering/Crafting system at first, however its very simple to grasp and all the stations are automated once you toss in mats. Very simple to see what you have to gather to increase your power.
PVP wise, we have full loot enabled, meaning, when you best someone in combat you can take their currently equipped gear and whatever's in their inventory, or not. We've only had one case of a full strip from a "fuck around and find out" situation. Everyone was laughing it up, nobody was butthurt, was all in good fun. Gear is easily replaceable if you have the mats.
Castles, in any PVP mode, if you manage to break in. You will have access to all chests a player has scattered around, except for 1 individual player locked 10slot chest. With the option of destroying their castle heart (deleting their base) or calming it for yourself (requires several mat heavy keys). To-date, nobody has blown up anyone else's castle but several raids have taken place.
TLDR, fun vampire game in early access, come join us. Search Radical Dreamers in PVP worlds.
Note, My buddy is planning on a fresh server start on July 31st so everyone goes back to zero. PVP Full Loot again, were determining in-game clan sizes (can be 2-4 players per clan) based on player count. Sever is open in current state for people to learn the game, have fun, and get to know the current player base.
Was fun solo and on private servers. Official pvp servers are a total shit show though. One I was on has a group of 12+ people multi clanning to keep the relics. It's a 4 man game ffs.
Hoping for more PVE stuff and maybe a map expansion/randomized map. I got 3 characters to 81 before I got bored trying to find somewhere good to play. Still fun as hell for a solid 100 hours.
Avoid USE4226 unless you want to fight that multiclanning bullshit for the endgame.
Feel free to join us, we all newbs still, haven't even fought a Relic boss yet. Think our highest is 78 and has cleared all bosses aside from final three.
Server is open to the public, but it's mainly 8 discord folks that all know each other. We've yet to destroy/claim someone else's castle, aside from the random pvp encounters couple body loots, all in good fun. With servants grinding mats it's so easy to replace gear.
@Madeline, any advice for our upcoming reset? Clan size 2-4? Friendly fire on/off? shared building? castle quantity? separate castles? one each? From what I understand we're leaving most if not all settings standard.
Edit: We will treat clann'ing as a ban-able offense probably. We don't want to claim/destroy hearts to keep people off the server, siege's and looting then leaving them to rebuild would be ideal I think. Want to make the siege worth while. if there's 3rd or 4th parties then so be it, but if the 3 siege teams aren't fighting to the death then we got a problem.
Clan size 2 was honestly the most fun I had. It keeps things from being overly chaotic and keeps the fights more focused and skill based vs. whoever spammed their ultimates first. Which quickly happens when 2 groups of 4, or more, show up to a castle siege. With clan size 2, 2 castle hearts is my favorite. With 4, it should only be 1. I'd keep friendly fire off, it gets crazy with ultimates depending on what people are using. Aside from that, default everything is pretty good. I've played on servers with hiked rates and it just makes the game end way too quickly. Same with having the ability to teleport any item. It makes horses as well as the cave passages unimportant and takes the danger of being outside away. One change I do like is shorter days. But I've played with and without it. I think the shortest I played, daytime was 6 hours and I liked that a lot.
It's generally a bad idea to have everything in one castle at first, but later on when the castle's max level, you have enough walls to stop 2-3 golems and enough space to build each room comfortably depending where you put down the heart. Just plan for your exterior walls to be maze-like while the center is your actual working and storage space. Plan for your teleporter to be somewhere accessible to that middle point.
Personal preference is to have each person build close to resources for convenient base teleports & utilizing the cave teleports to ship resources back where they need to be. One in Silverlight, one in the deep end of the Cursed Forest I feel are a must, one in Dunley if you have leftovers, etc. Fighting for territory is very fun when a server is near full or when someone's taken a prime piece of land close to one of the passages. You'll want what the other guy took, that sort of thing. But that requires full loot to be on. I generally didn't like the idea of castles being permanent toward the very end simply because a very fortified castle is nearly impenetrable if the relics were placed strategically. The heart is the only way through to them, and only because you can hear it to know where it is so you don't run your golems dry.
Every server is different. Consider how many players you have and adjust accordingly to any of the above I'd say. Only the busiest servers *need* destruction, but not having it does take away fighting over territory and makes initial placement essentially permanent.
@Madeline, thanks for the tips! We agreed to leaving everything basically default. Still PVP Full Loot, we were going back and forth on castle destruction/claiming and in the end decided that if someone wants to farm enough mats to make 1 key (to delete) and/or 3 keys (to claim) then we will have a in-game ceremony haha. I figure late game with full teams of servants running out farming mats that these keys do become quite accessible.
@everyone else, reset is stilled planned for 7/31 if anyone wants to join. Clan size is going to be 3, 1 heart(castle) per player. all standard game settings.
