    Lilo & Stitch (D+) - Live-Action Remake

Glad they kept Stitch’s character design and didn’t try to re-imagine it for live action.

I don't like all the live action remakes but that looks so good!

Don't. When Lilo and Stitch came out, it basically reversed a series of flops from Disney as it was back then.

I didn't see Lilo & Stitch til much later when the original came out, I don't even remember it being in theaters, and we saw most Disney movies.

Yeah, Disney animation was on a bit of a down swing due to flops of Atlantis, Treasure Planet, etc. Lilo and Stich reversed it a bit, but with how bad the previous couple of movies were, a lot of people waited for it to come out on video before watching, and it slowly grew into cult classic status for Disney.

Which is a shame because both Atlantis and Treasure Planet are amazing movies.

Lilo & Stitch blew away all expectations with a record-smashing, four-day domestic debut of $192.7 million, and a jaw-dropping $361.3 million globally..

I've yet to watch the original (wife and daughters have been on me about it already) and I will, but I've read or heard that the ending of the new one is different then the first.

Anyone able to confirm this and if so, in your opinion, is it a better, worse, or on par with, the first one's ending?

The ending is different. They worked in stuff that happens down the road in the sequel cartoons and such for the new ending.

    Spoiler: show
Nani (older sister) gives up custody of Lilo (younger sister) to her neighbor (and love interest's grandma) so that she can go to college, but they give her a plot device that lets her go back and forth between the islands and her campus frequently. People feel this was a betrayal of the original movie about "Ohana means no one gets left behind." But it's not like Lilo is going off to a foster home where she will never see Nani ever again.

A lot of people are overreacting and judging it for that, but it wasn't terrible.

It made more money on memorial day weekend opening than the original 2002 Lilo & Stitch made in it's entire theatrical run
