FFXI Error 9001 -1 / Tomarow Patch.

Calling POL tech help really does not help on this Error. It is new to them and they really do not have a clue on how to fix it.

They think its with your GFX card. but they are going to be doing another update / patch tomarow.

But i am trying to still fix this error if anyone is else getting it please let me know if you have any kind of fix.

A linkshell member of mine had this happen as well. He still can't log on. The exact error he got was:
Terminated as error occurred in Final Fantasy XI. The installationpath is not Valid (Error Code:FFXI-9001) (-1)

I had him check his registry to make sure they had the correct FF & POL directories, and they were fine. Maybe try to update your graphics driver?

I had this and saw something like
C:\\Program Files\\PlayOnline\\SquareEnix\\FINAL FANTASY XI
in my registry. Deleted the extra \'s and works fine now.

I have both NA and JP clients on my computer and interchange between the two occassionally. I updated the NA version just fine since the patch, but the JP client is giving me the FFXI-9001 error that some of you people have. I hit the Play button, then the game fails to load the Warning notice where it asks you to "Accept" or "Decline" before taking you to the title screen. And I end up back on POL.

The error message looks like this:

ファイナルファンタジーXIでエラーが発生したため終了しました。エンストールパスが正しく有りません。( エラーコード:FFXI-9001)(-1)

Translated, it says "As a result of an FFXI error occurance, the game has terminated. Correct installation path doesn't exist. (Error Code: FFXI-9001)(-1)"

After finding this, I tried completely reinstalling both versions of the game. First by installing the JP version in C:\Program Files\PlayOnline-JP\.

- PlayOnline
- FFXI
- Zilart Expansion
- Updated both POL and FFXI

Then, I installed the NA client completely in C:\Program Files\PlayOnline-NA\.

- PlayOnline
- FFXI
- Zilart Expansion
- CoP
- TAU
- Updated both POL and FFXI

The NA version works fine. But since I don't have the JP version of CoP and TAU, what I did in the past was copy the FFXI folder from my NA client and paste it on top of the JP client. After a third version check, the JP client would run fine. But now, since the update, even reinstalling it doesn't work still. So it's only NA client for me atm and it kinda bugs me to think I may never type Japanese on FFXI again.

Any ideas on how to remedy this problem is appreciated. I thought the problem was because I overlapped the NA on top of the JP version of FFXI, but if Killerme's friend is having the same problem...

Chael, can you give me a better idea on where in the regedit I can find the double \\, assuming it's there?

Thanks. Took a look around both types (the JP client folder Playonline instead of something like PlayOnlineJP) and didn't see any indication of extra \ or extra yen symbols (if you run PC with japanese language support, the \ turns into the yen symbol　￥).

Hopefully SE gets to the bottom of this...

I've been having the same problem, right after the update when i tried to log in it gave me (Error code: FFXI-9001) (-1)

both GMs and TechHelp havn't been able to tell whats wrong, and everything in the regedit seems to be ok, hell even reinstalling twice didnt help ><;

Nope, still not fixed.
they're doing a "Registration server maintenance" today, so hopefully that could take care of the problem but i kinda doubt it, being SE and all >.>;
