    Weeks uses Shadowbind, but misses.

Running to Jailer of Faith ??? with a large train behind me. Last ghrah before the porter is in bird form, so I figure I'll just Shadowbind him and use the porter...

Um, what the hell? I haven't been RNG in a long time, but since when does Shadowbind miss on non-immune mobs?

It misses Ice-based things as I recall. So it was probably a ghrah of an incompatible element. And I see 2 Ghrahs in that SS that must be ice based.

I know it's not really related to your question but you can still user the porters in sea while having a mob on you, just need to time when you bring up the message to zone up.

Shadowbind can randomly miss on some of the mobs in Sea (particularly Ghrahs), it's just weird like that.

I remember exploring Hu'Xzoi when it was added with a friend of mine and aggroing one ("Why did this one aggro and the other didn't?!"), popping shadowbind, only to have it miss.

probably not the case here but im pretty sure it can also miss if the mob is bound already.

Nah, all those spells were cast like 2 minutes before, was just a quiet night. It was an ice one, I had no idea they were SB-immune.

Word, Ghrahs pretty much immune to any status effects that are naturally of the same element as they are. Automaton's Flashbulb misses light-based Ghrahs in the same manner. I'm assuming Gekko will never actually silence a wind-based one similarly.

bind is based on ice, and fire beats ice...hence why shadowbind missed.

I've seen a COR miss Shadowbind, too, but that's a different issue.

Ice-based and Fire-based Ghrahs will resist your ice-based Shadowbind. Also, you will receive that message when the mob you are using it on is immune to bind entirely, or when it is already bound.

Now what I want to know is why EES misses sometimes.

But ice beats wind, and wind beats earth, and earth beats thunder, and thunder beats water, and water beats fire. Hence ice beats fire and shadowbind should have stuck.

The transitive property does not apply to elemental weaknesses!! Minus 50 points, you damn frosh! >8O

... er. yes. carry on. (given that it's divisortheory, I imagine he knew exactly what he was saying, and was making a silly joke.)

    (... damn frosh.)
