    Pandora.com

Does anyone use this? What channels do you have. I'm always interested in checking out new channels on Pandora.

If you haven't been to Pandora, it's pretty cool. They call it the Music Genome Project, you basically enter an artist or song, and it will build an evolving playlist based on that particular song / artist. You choose which songs you like and don't like and it continues to build from there.

Nice way to find artists you didn't know you'd like or existed.

I've been using it since late 2005. It's pretty nice to use now since they added a lot more music that they used to have. Usually I select channels by artist since you get a wider range of music than selecting for a specific song.

I'd probably go with sorta main stream artists at first and then branch out as you find the more obscure bands and stuff.

Right now I've been alternating between Talib Kweli and Imogen Heap channels, mostly semi-underground and electronica.

For hip-hop I have Lupe Fiasco channel, for downtempo / lounge stuff I have a channel called Nolico. It's a song by this japanese duo that's pretty nice. And everything it links to is just very nice downtempo / leftfield / lounge.

I like Lupe Fiasco but I'm sorta skeptical about how wide the music selection would be from his channel. Except for a few songs from his new album, most of them have been produced exactly the same. Good songs, but they all sound too similar.

Nolico is pretty sweet too. I have a channel for them but I never use it.

I started with pandora the other week at work. The biggest problem is that you actually have to use the mouse to pause or skip songs. My keyboard has the extra buttons to control WMP without it being in focus, which is really useful when minimizing CoH or whatever emulator I'm using would lag and/or crash it. Therefore, pandora works fine as long as you're not actually using the computer at the time.

And since I'm on a metal kick lately, my channels are
    Helloween,
    Thundersteel,
    Hammerfall,
    Dragonforce,
    Steel Attack

Quick question, is anyone here able to run this in Firefox? I don't mind having to use IE for it, but just curious.

Lupe Fiasco channel is kinda scurry lol. It goes into some really militant hip-hop. Like Styles P "I'm Black" came on and people were looking over at me like "Ooooooooooooookay". It seems to focus more on what he's saying than the musical style at some points. But it did drop a couple of The Streets songs with really good production so it's kindof nice.

I use it regularly since I'm way too lazy to download mp3's atm. The channel I'm currently listening to has a lot of concious rap/underground hip hop. I have one with a lot of punk and other quirky rock type music on it also. A channel with dragonforce as the only specification, and a jmusic channel.

Robot Rock channel is nice because not only does Daft Punk own, but it plays alot of rock / metal laden electronic and dance music. Pretty good station if you need to jam hard on some work.

Didn't they try to do this a year or two ago? I remember some stink from when I was djing for UMass Dartmouths radio station on thier late night Rave New World / Metronome show and there was an informative sheet we had to sign regarding a lawsuit or something saying we would have to list every track we played so it could be sent out to determine if it fell on royalty lists ( because we also webcast the show).

It was wierd to us because it was all drum n bass, garage and dubstep so we thought it didn't apply to us. I also remember a couple of other web stations that were pretty much dj shows getting all freaked out because of emails they were recieving regarding royalties due and such. But that ended up flopping didn't it?

    Seether for rock
Paul Oakenfold for new age / techno
    Lonestar for country

If I'm in the mood I use Outkast for hiphop / rap, but that's rare.

Thrashing! = NOFX, Pennywise, Bullets and Octane, Go Betty Go, Rise Against and other non standard screaming punk.
Raver's Delight = George Acosta, Ian Van Dahl, I didn't bother adding anyone else to the list. I did that so I could actually hear new stuff.
Mellow Twinge = I added only Rob Dougan here, You can here him and lots of really mellow non techno stuff here.
Punk Drunk = Anti-Flag, Bad Religion, The Offspring, I come here to listen to standard punk. <3
Dirty Guitar Tracks = This is my default Station. I started it off with Stabbing Westaward, added Powerman 500, and tweaked it, You'll get awesome rock here. I promise!

    Rammstein Radio FTW!

Not their old stuff, the old stuff sucked. Anything prior to 2003 just blows. New stuff is great!

I use Last.FM for tracking what i listen to. Their online player lags though... if it didn't, i would use it over pandora. But i use pandora all day at work and use this Pandora to Last.fm Firefox Extension to keep tracking played songs.
