FFXII finished after storyline completion?

Once I finish the storyline on FFXII, will I get a 'game over' scenario, or can I play on and go hunting and such? Please don't spoil anything, just let me know if I need to go get other shit done before going too far with the story.

There's plenty of hunting to be done. Tons of monsters that are 100x stronger than the final boss.

But yea, if you go finish the game you'll get a "The End" screen. Not to worry though, final dungeon is like 3 minutes long tops.

Without spoiling it for me, is there an obvious way of knowing when I can't go any further in the story if I want to go complete the bestiary etc?

I'm currently level 57ish, I've done all the hunts available except for uh, the strange man one for Montblanc and King Behemoth. In the story I've just entered the tower where I need to collect the blue blob thingys to activate nightmare altars or w/e where the ubernethicite thingamy is. Stuck with fucking Reddas atm

You get one of those messages like
"are you sure you want to ....?"

"Are you really sure? You probably can't come back..."

"Are you sure that you're sure because like, warning, you can't come back"

"Ok, so you're really sure then?"

I don't think there are any save crystals in there either.

There aren't any Save Crystals in the Final Dungeon, and what it is should be fairly obvious.

In any case, the game world (and final dungeon) is completely open to you after you complete the Pharos. If you dunno what that is, then you're likely not close to it.

When you enter the last part of the game it'll give you a prompt to make sure you know you can't leave, too.

once u beat it, it has one of those normal FF end-game movies...then ends

and u can continue playing from previous file that u had.

on a side note: u should really kill the strange man hunt (make sure u steal all the items from "him", they're important items, or at least one is)

There's only one time in the whole game where it asks you to proceed. It says, "Once you enter the ********* you will not be able to leave. Proceed?"

You will be at the end, and can cancel out before entering the **************.
