    Spaming Azure Experiments

I can see from the ??? Stat tracking post that many people are Spamming the hell out of this Assault,

I beat this long ago with my Static party, but now I'm looking back on trying to set up to Spam it as easily as possible. This is one for the few Assaults we didn't clear on our first time, We Killed the first 2 Sets of Mob's then the 3rd never Spawned, and we spent the rest of the time Looking for a 3rd Group.

The Walk through on Wiki does not say to much about it. Do you have to Change your " Tissue Graft" between each set? Is there anything you have to do to get the next Set to Spawn so we doing get caught Running around for 3/4 of the time?

I'd also like to ask what sort of Party Setups you guys are using for this... basic Tp Burns Merit pt Set up? 4 Melee/Brd/Rdm?

yea you have to talk to the NPC after each set of mobs dies. I do it with 3 people often but time is tight. You need to have 2 strong melees, one of whom can function as a blink tank, and a 3rd person who can stun and heal. I usually go NIN/WAR THF/NIN RDM/DRK and it works pretty well.

Also, at least when we did this a lot before the last update anyhow (I remember there was a patch since then fixing something so this may not be the case anymore) if you got an event skip getting a graft you had to cycle through a few grafts depending on how many sets you'd already killed before the new set would pop. Once you get the message that her blood is boiling or tingling or something then you know they've popped. We always went 2xBLM and RDM.

the assault is pretty straightforward: you fight 2 groups of 2 mobs and 2 groups of 3. before fighting each group you get a tissue graft. you must always get a new graft and sometimes she goes nuts and keeps grafting. when she's done though, talking to her says something about her azure blood is emo about the fishgirls around. go find the group and kill all of them then talk to her again. be careful you don't repop the mobs on top of you. each group of mobs will pop exactly once per run. the mob pops are:
2 mobs northeast just below the drop. pull them up.
3 mobs to the southeast at the bottom of the drop around the little spire.
3 mobs at the north end of the big room to the west.
2 mobs at the south end of the big room to the west.
all of the mobs are moderately sleep resistant except the blm which is sleep immune. the blm is also silence immune. possible grafts are:
Raptor skin: 50% hp down and perma flee (VERY fun!)
goobue muscle: huge boost in atk, but obscene slow. probably the most irritating of the bunch.
Opo-Opo cerebral tissue: 50% mp down, high fast cast, high HMP boost. sounds worse than it is. ninjas <3 it.
Dragonfly optical tissue: very high acc but a 50% decrease in attack. irritating as it makes kills slower. not terrible.
it's a pretty easy assault. can be brought down with rdm, blm,DD,nin fairly easily. can also be manaburned w/ 3-4 blm (might take 4, i don't remember) and a rdm.

    I spam this as MNK/NIN x2 and RDM/WHM.
We clear it every time in 20-25 minutes. The mobs can pop in 4 spots.
    Paint skills on ffxi-atlas map:
    http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...xperiments.jpg
They pop in random order every assault in one of these spots and never at the same spot twice. NE spot always has 2 Lamia, SW spot always has 2, other 2 spots always have 3. After every set you kill, click the NPC for a new "Graft". Supposedly you need to click her again after you get the Graft to make here say something like: "My azure blood is throbbing... kill the monsters with the powers I've given you" so the monsters pop on the map. I haven't actually tried it without double clicking her, I usually default click NPCs twice anyway XD

You can avoid linking the Lamia by making sure the others have their back turned or are in front of the Lamia you are trying to pull. I think that about sums it up.

    edit: hello other replies XD

This isn't true. I have once become regrafted at the area with 3 Lamiae and then they immediately respawned on top of us.

That's because there are two spawns in the big room, and you probably pulled them and were fighting them on top of where the other group spawns or something. In however many runs we did of this (too many) they always popped exactly once in each of the 4 locations, always in the same numbers and with the same job configurations, every run.

Aye, same here. Did the assault 21 times so far, never popped in the same spot.

I spam this assault as well Nin/war, Blm/whm and Whm/blm.. Time cleared is 15-25 minutes depending on the buffs. Slow is the worst for our group, with lowered attack right behind it. The hp down effect can suck if blm isnt on top of -ga stuns. The fast cast / 50% mp effect is awesome and makes killing easier, but we rarely ever get it..

I've done this assault maybe 10 times with NIN, NIN, BLU/NIN, RDM. Could probably be done without the 2nd NIN, but it makes it easy. BLU handles stunning all the ga spells, and does the majority of the damage when we get the -atk graft since BLU spells aren't affected by atk. We tried manaburning it with 4x BLM and we would win, but we had issues with time and handling links when we had -MP graft.

I could see the mobs popping twice in the same spot only because this Assault is quite buggy.

We had one run where we got Graft > Graft about 2 seconds apart, had 2 sets of mobs pop, and had to kill all before the NPC would graft again.

Luckily for us, it was Raptor tissue that came as the second graft so life was good.

Stuns and whatnot are nice to have but certainly not essential. Trio'd a ton of times now with 2x THF/NIN + RDM/WHM with practically no problems, only had to run away once due to an unfortunate set of circumstances. Time was definitely tight at first but has gotten better, though I certainly wouldn't take a Harpe/AJ THF, you need top-notch ones if you're not bringing the "normal" heavy DDs like MNK, NIN or WAR.

Thanks a lot, My Assault Static kind broke/went inactive till the next rank is added, So was looking for some insight in to farming a Divisor ring or a pair of Ataractic Solea, but my MDB set.

You have all been very helpful!

I'm thinking we will go with 2 Nin, and a Rdm.

How much of a Problem are the blm's aga's? Will 2 Ninja interrupt it most the time or will the Rdm need to /drk?

I think you'll interrupt most of it. We usually manage to interrupt ga's with melee and/or do Asurans (or in your case Jin?) or Shoulder Tackle, it will only pose a problem when you got raptor tissue for the low hp. If one person happens to die you can still win.

Is there any special reason to spam this one? My group does Imperial Code for Leujaoam points. You get 1333 points for a trio, and it's not hard with our group of NIN THF WHM.

Ah. My group has its eyes on the +3 hMP neckwear, and the STR +5 ring. Each to their own, I suppose!

An interesting and potentially useful note:

You can drop Lamia with Hide if you get a link or are about to get pwned by an AOE spell as THF with -50% HP.

Maybe its a stupid question but is it possible to carby pull one lamia at a time? or do they act as if it's a bcnm?

My group does Azure experiments pretty regularly since we all want divisor rings. Unfortunately we're having a lot more luck getting the MDB feet than divisor rings.

The most 'robust' 3 person setup we've found is 2 blu/nin & 1 bard/whm (bard has storm fife). That damage output of the blus is diverse enough that pretty much regaurdless of the buff/debuff we get they chew up the lamia at a constant rate.

Pretty much any combo of tank/DD x2 + buffer should be able to trio the fight. We've been able to swap out blus for nins and the bard for a rdm or corsair without significantly changing either the time or difficulty.

You have flee, it's easy to just run out of range with raptor graft.
