Bringing back the old debate: A Videogame forum

It seemed like a long time ago since this point was brought up. I feel like bringing it up again.

Last time, I remember people saying "It would take traffic away from the General Discussion forum", but I didn't think so and now I feel even more certain than before. We practically have made a sticky thread that holds 80 to 90% of all videogame discussion... with the occasional big news thread and the Wii VC sticky. General Discussion seems fine and dandy.

Also, we have the RPG forum(once FFXII based) which is widely ignored... to the point I've seen a FFXII thread on General Discussion while it was still FFXII named.

The big sticky sort of intimidated me when I went in looking for E3 info... so I just went to another site for it. I have a feeling... if we just had another forum(or sub forum), I could of just looked in a sticky thread or individual thread for each company and it would of been nice and easy.

Anyway, that's my case, wondering what other people think of it.

(If we do make a little /v/ on BG, it would need a strict anti-console fanboi debate rule).

a "Video game & anime" board would feel more appropriate then "rpg" or "video game" alone. Not that it matter much, I dont really mind posting directly in general discution >_>

To be honest I think videogame/anime discussion doesnt belong in General Discussion, it's not general enough, and its sure as hell not what I go to the General section to read about. I want news, random shit, porn, and religious debates...nothing to do with geekiness. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I just seriously doubt what little traffic we'd be losing in terms of having the new forum wouldn't really detract from what General Discussion is intended to be.

Well, considering this forum is based on a game, it's not exactly like a videogame forum wouldn't get any traffic. The main stickies in general discussion are about games anyway.

A spam forum doesn't do justice because the ones posting Digg threads think the shit deserves a new topic. Nothing in that forum has a single topic from Digg, but take a look at the general forum for a minute to find several on just the first page alone.

Turning the RPG forum into General Videogames wouldn't be too bad I think <.< General board is going a lot faster these days than it was in the past, and some small important things go by unnoticed really easily and fall the pages. (Like that Dark_AleX thread;;)

I don't really care if we sub-divide the forums or not. I already don't participate in video game threads unless I play them, so it's just whatever.

I feel like a perv, but the second I scrolled past 6soul's avatar for the first time I was like "Oh shit is that a tiny little vagina?" and scrolled back up to verify. I'm like 3 feet away from my monitor and I couldn't tell, so I doubt it would catch attention just from being on the screen unless your boss likes to get uncomfortably close or someone else uses your computer.
