Anyone skateboard?

This may sound retarded, but after spending a lot of time with that game Skate., i've kinda had the urge to get back into skateboarding. I used to ride a lot when i was 14-15 untill I broke my arm trying to grind onto a platform lol. Never really got back into it after that...I was never really good, and could only do ollies and kickflips... but it was always a lot of fun when I wanted to get my mind off of things.

Anyone know any good skateboard brands that I should look into? What's a good price for a decent board? I remember riding on an element board that I got for my birthday for about $120 I think... any suggestions?

I always used to ride the Kerry Getz models, no shops carried the sizes I liked other than a getz. Was always a fan of habitat. Skateboarding was fun for me because we only had one BMX skatepark near me which is what I did first, but the part was overpriced and sucked. There was always a place to go on a board and have alot of fun at though. I've moved up to more expensive habbits like snowboarding surfing and mx though =/ I only remember decks costing about 50-65$.

Oh yeah well complete set yeah, but just the deck and grip tape alone would be around your price. I had figured you got the whole set for $50-60 and was like "What?" hehe.

Fuck graphics/pro model decks. It's all about the blank decks from the local skate shop. They're usually 30-45$ for the deck if not cheaper. I've been skating for about 15 years now, and I don't think I've bought anything other then a blank deck maybe more then 2 times.

Just think of it like this...the board is going to get the shit kicked out of it. Why waste all that $$$ on a picture that won't be there much longer then a few months if not sooner?

I always go through a lot of decks because I skate a lot and I'm a little heavier then most skaters. I skate a lot more in the city(rails and such) then going in parks so my boards take a beating more then normal. I'm not the greatest skater but I don't suck by any means, but if I had a deck last 3 months I'd be psyched.

Lol better you get more boards you'll break what are you talking about. As you up the intensity of your tricks more pressure is often getting put on your boards and especially with rails and huge distances the chances of your board snapping goes up quite a bit. I used to know a guy that owned a skate shop in town and he used to go through a board every week or two because he skated so much and did some crazy good shit.

i used the same board through almost 3 years of boarding, if you break your board that much you just suck. And no, i'm not being catty, i'm being serious, if you take care of it it'll last you a very long time.

This response could not be more wrong, lol. I skated for about 8 years and by the time I quit, I was going through 2 decks a month probably. I always used blanks.

When I skated, I preferred the Blank Decks. I found them a lot stronger and a little lighter than the branded boards. Plus if you're into art you can design your own deck.

Waste all that money? It's 10$ more... and the "local skate shops" sell the same pro model boards. I've always liked pro models because they typically have a better variety of sizes, and my favorite board sizes were usually awkward, the only way to get them with the feel i liked was to get a pro model.

All the same sizes and molds you'd get from shops, it's where I bought all of my decks until I quit after dislocating an ankle. Never had any issues with the decks, and I was only paying about $25 after S&H for the blanks, not sure what they sell or what the prices are anymore though.

If that fails, do what others suggested and hit up your local shop for blank decks.

basically go to any actual skate shop not zumiez not copleands or something go to a actual shop and just pick one that feels right not looks good.... other than that all the other shit is the same cept soft and hard wheels depending on what you wanna do.... any abec 3 bearings are good i prefer reds bones. and venture or independent trucks are good to start with

I was always a fan of Girl and Arto Saari Flip boards. Blank boards definitely get the job done, though, especially the ATM ones previously mentioned. Durable and poppy as fuck.
