Vista + FFXI Help

I need some help... (this is Ladyjai btw Tekki's gf)

I have a new laptop that runs with Vista.. FFXI is installed and I have dled the patch update thing from Playonline.com so they can be compatible.

My laptop is more than qualified to run the game:
I have a HP Pavillion laptop
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS processor
Memory says 2046 MB
Intel Core Duo

anyways.. the game does not run right. I go out of my MH in whitegate and as I run then try to stop.. sometimes I don't stop. Then when I go to run it takes a second or two to start running. Sending a tell or typing in general is very slow.. one letter at a time after I have typed out the whole sentence. Basically I am just lagging uncontrollably. This also happend in other areas that aren't heavily populated. Is there anything else I am supposed to do, or uninstall or anything so this doesnt happen? Help!

nvidia geforce 8 series have some big lag problems with FFXI when vista is installed. i dunno why, and i don't think there's a solution (maybe old drivers?), but it's a pretty common problem. i believe there's a thread about it at the top of this very forum section

its the 8X00 series in general not just with vista so getting xp for laptop wont help if thats what u where ganna do

id try and find a 7950 cheap assuming they make that for laptops idk realy but thats best in 7X00 series and it will be compatable with FFXI i have 1 for desktop cuase its best thats compatible and i only buy nvidia
