To those that have fought this overgrown Ram before:
I'm looking for some tips and suggestions on how to fight this thing, as well as add handling and such.
Probably looking to try it with like 10~12 people or how many ever I can get.
Thanks

My LS fought it a long long time ago, and were not very well prepared.
When things started to go wrong we just did sleep > nuke > sleep and so on untill it died.
I've only fought it once, iirc we kited it and basically just ran around like lunatics killing everything, it was great fun. GL with Padfoots!
When I did this, the person who popped stand by at the ??? while the rest of the alliance clears the greater birds/rams. Then the person popped it and would kite it back I-8/J-8-I-9/J-9 and we would go from there. Since nobody ever fought it before, we just did it kirin style to be safe. Any tank can safely kite it and should stay out of range or else he would use his petrifying breath if kiters are in reach.
Think we overkilled since I remember having 23 people there and had a whole outside party devoted to keeping tavnazian rams from touching main alliance. Very fun fight for the casual LS I was in at the time.
I agree with the above poster. My LS originally tried to straight tank it and when things got ugly, we switched to a large area kiting strategy that reminded everybody of Kirin. It was very smooth after that.
I helped an old ls mate with this. We did it like the above post, someone pops it, gets clear of the birds and rams, then kite it kind of like a non-tp burn kirin. It randomly spams holy 2 on anyone that has hate. I had the misfortune of converting then eating a holy 2. That was probably the best part of that fight.
It's regular Holy, it's just beefed up as hell.Originally Posted by MarkM.

Hey Syanonn-
check with gerkin- euphorya did this 2 times, once was just a ridiculously long waste of time, second time was much smoother. Not bad at all if you have some people there to just handle the swarming sheep that will pick off shadows/etc.
I'd reccomend 18 if you could get it though just to dedicate 2 parties to amaltheia and 1 to adds- speeds things up.
All I remember is his Holy did 700+ when I pulled hate and he was hitting me for 450 non crit ;;
We did a bunch of these kiting them with ~10 people, kite it around the wide open area near the portal from Valkurm > Lufaise. It's easy, sleep as needed to kill the rams.
As a side note, this is a funny fight to watch, as there are times where it'll spam holy. With tanks running around trying to kite it, it sometimes will sit in place and cast holy 3-4 times in a row looking like a turret lol.
He casts Holy on random targets irregardless of hate.Originally Posted by SeraphusRagnarok

Kiting it is fairly easy, been a while since I fought it but I remember gravity sticking fairly easy. Best to just keep sleeping adds (Rams, not Sheep) so they don't keep coming back every 5 mins. When resists start to build, kill them off. RNGs BLMs RDMs SMNs worked well for us. Good luck with your shield!
just a lil tip..
when u want to "call for help" on the two rams, have the one call for help from outside main alliance.. cuz there is a big chance the Amaltheia go "called for help"...
but anyway he's not that hard, just have tons of HP.
tried to duo with 2 BLMs....yea that didnt go so well lol...
^^ thanks for all the tips, I was able to take this down with 11 people (+1 THF64 donating his relic shield to pop) manaburn style around the Megalobugard spawn spot. Had 1 PLD, 1 RNG, 1 WHM, 3 RDMs and the rest were BLMs.
Xanga entry Ares body go!
Weird, I tried to duo it as well, but the other guy sucked and we lost.Originally Posted by CailIfrit
4 blm/nin could probably do it. With 2 ppl, we dropped it to 70% before it start building sleep resist. For the fight, we pulled it to safehold zone and reseted hate a few time. You cant dot it, but it wont regen when it's sleeping.
Yea, that Cail guy sucks. Get you a real BLM to low man stuff.Originally Posted by Kaylia
Took us 2~ hours to do it with 10-11 people.
PLD/NIN (me, Kiter)
PLD/NIN (add ram tank)
RDM
WHM (Left at like 50% cause it was late)
SAM
BLM
BLM (Was 2box'd by the WHM who left early)
RNG
WHM
WAR
Can't remember if we had more. We kite it far away from the 75 zone so the Tav Rams would take longer to get there.
Notes:
WHM needs to be fast with Stona/Erase for Petrify/Max HP Down.
Holy did minimal damage to everyone (190~ to me when it hit me). Never saw it do much damage to anyone.
When it would cast Holy, it'd do it 3-4 times in a row and not move.
Things moved a lot faster when we set up a Fragmentation + MB.
It is sleepable and advised to if your kiter goes down, you have NQ rams, and no backup kiter. Gravity will sometimes resist though.
If a ram comes, all (except kiter + kiter's WHM) focus on it to kill it.
Banishga3 hit for around 500-700 with Shell5 up in just my enmity set.
The ram did hit me for 400~ each, but again, just in my enmity set.
I didn't have W.Legs (because it wasn't even on my priority list when I made it and like 15+ want W.Legs. And I think we're like 0/9 for W.Legs on Kirin anyways) so not sure if he can catch up to you if you do have them. All in all, it's pretty fun fight. :D
