I've had my character sitting since 4th month began, it took until the 29th of the 4th month for him to spawn on lightsday during the water weather right at the start of the day.

0/2 first time with TH4 (f you SE making this shit of a spawn time not 100% drop rate)

Last year Vana'diel time I saw him spawn twice but I don't know what was the cause of him spawning a 2nd time.

My questions are as followed...

1: Is the respawn pretty much the same as if opened for the first time on the 4th month? How many times can he respawn in that period of 4-end of 6th month (the JPs left after the 2nd spawn last time)?

2: I know there has to be some JP trick to this because two people showed up 15 minutes before the new day started when he spawned (Dia claim > voke + charm!!). Any insight on this? Wiki isn't that great in regards to him outside the month spawn.

3: If the placeholders are killed after he dies (the other fungar), how does that work with him?

at work so i can't look up spawn conditions and drop (the 20mp pants iirc? frog trousers or w/e) but

i did see him in nyzul although i forget which floor, i've been spamming 16-20 though so it's likely there, although i did help on a friend's disc 31-35 and 36-40

people have apparently gotten bqr's, bloodbead rings, retaliators and even trotters (this is unconfirmed and only on 1 person's say-so) -- anyway you want to try this route to avoid the apparently annoying spawn conditions (month wtf)

When I saw him spawn, it was always early in 5th month. I did not stay for a 2nd spawn in that season, I tried again the next game year. I went 1/2 with TH4.

90% sure he requires a weather condition to spawn. The JPs probably checked the weather in Jueno then traveled there.

As for why the hat is good:

1) it's rare as heck.
2) For level 41 the stats are actually good. It's almost certainly outclassed by level 60 for just about any job though.

I use the hat on Bard, I'll continue to use it until I can wear Relic hat. I got used to the look of it from lvling SMN (until I got my Horn),
so I didn't really mind the hobo-hat look. I know bards that wear that red ribbon to 75 ^^; so my Hobo-hat is slightly more useful than that.

He spawns during months 4-6 on rain weather, it can change weather pretty often, as in within a few minutes, and he's on a very long respawn timer, as in 18+ hours after ToD. Just checking the weather npc for rain than showing up is not feasible. The JPs were probably came together and were just lucky when they showed up.

I've left my character there (mostly afk) with filters off many times. From my experience, he's never spawned in month 7 even if his ToD is up and it's raining, just 4-6, and he's only spawned 1-2 times per cycle. The earliest I've seen him repop after death is just slightly over 18 hours, however he seems to have no maximum spawn time after death, as in he can just not repop at all, even if the placeholders were not killed and rainy weather continues even past like 30+ hrs. I have seen one of the funguar mobs in his pop area killed and he spawned like an hour later, so my guess is that it is only a specific PH that can't be killed if it is indeed based on keeping them up for X amount of time, or can pop of of either of them. When he pops one of the funguars will just despawn, and he will spawn within the next few seconds. I'm not sure how many times I saw him pop in log, but I claimed him like 4-5 times and got the drop on the last kill, all times as /thf.

I would not recommend camping it at all unless you are completely uncontested, and don't mind leaving your character there for several real life days.

Thanks for the ToD info, I'll have to try it with /thf from now on then in case my TH4 friends aren't on at the time.

Wiki states to not kill the "3" funguar. I assume the one near that log before you see the 2 funguar? Or is that wrong? I've only seen him spawn from the two that sit there and not the one in the back so far.


lol thistle, thats all I am hoping for since the higher prizes are just being too far for me. Yes, I always liked the Austere hat on my SMN but I changed to SMN horn when I got it so it would be nice to have this "all jobs" austere-like hat to wear in town (and its rarity is a nice thing to walk around with I suppose).
