Title change: I'm writing a paper on FairTax

1. The dwindling US Economy
2. The ravaged housing market
3. The stimulus package

Im guessing about 80-85% of the papers will hit one of these topic's. I want something unique. One example would be writing about when a business, mining for instance, owns a community, and pays their workers in "business dollars" that can only be redeemed at the towns markets (also owned by the mining business). I forgot what these are called, company town maybe, but that would be an excellent idea, however, someone thought of it before me.

Anywho, it can be really vague and out of the box, I just have to have some kind of economic correlation, and I need it to be somewhat interesting.

- Could do some historical analysis like looking at Reaganomics, great depression, other financial situations/crises of other countries too.

I think that would be a lot of work to write an unbiased paper on Fair Tax. I'd imagine you could easily do 20-30 pages from all the pro's and con's and subjects that surround it.

What type of economics class is this btw? If its your Major, I would have to agree, that would be a perfect topic to tackle.

It's an entry-level econ class. I'm back in school to just pick up a middle school teaching endorsement and a high school certificate for social sciences. For whatever reason they require to take one econ class, one psych class, and one polysci class for the cert. The later two I already had from a previous college. Forgot about fairtax, but my god, I think it's supposed to be like a 5-10 page paper, not a dissertation.

I actually did a paper my first year in college on why we should lower the legal drinking age (without once mentioning 18+ military bullshit argument). I backed it up with stats from countries with lower drinking ages. Got a 98/100 on it. A persuasive paper would be cool as long as a vast majority of people would disagree with my stance. Otherwise it would be pointless. I don't even think I could break down the fairtax in less than 8 pages, much less provide a bias analysis.

Assuming China is able to continue its rapid development, and successfully achieve a post-industrial nation without destroying its environment and world credibility. What possible ripple effects will be felt when potentially over a billion Chinese enter the resource hungry, consumer lifestyle of advanced post-industrial nations?

I should add my teacher is a huge gamer. Loves some CoD4. He's a really cool guy. I remember half of our first class was him ranting about how there are no more grape icing/filling pop tarts. The China topic is sort of interesting, I'm sure China would consume, consume, and consume. I don't know their net export though. It's a huge nation that exports a fucking ton. I can't imagine that they import more than they export. The gaming economy and fairtax (if can somehow condense) sounds the most interesting so far. Unfortunately, I don't play any MMO anymore, and I don't know how far back FFXIAH can pull pricing, so it may be difficult.

I did a paper earlier this year about the post WWII era and how the economies of Europe benefitted in the long run through the reconstruction. I think I still have my notes somewhere, it was a pretty good topic compairson and it showed quite a bit of the key differences in the way north American and European economies are doing now because of it.
