CRT TV dark when playing games

i know crt is really out of date, but i'm stuck with one. when i'm playing games on it, i notice that when it's a really bright scene (day time for instance) everything else is super duper dark. is it just cuz the tv plain sucks or will this happen even on an lcd screen too?

just a few more examples: forest scene during the day. the sky is bright and normal, but you can't even see through the tree's cuz it's so dark.

time for an upgrade.

Go DLP. More Affordable, and will probably last longer than your flat tv's. Not to mention they are pretty light-weight, and have amazing picture quality.

And when DLP dies out, you spend like 100-200$ on a new bulb= new tv, LCD and Plasma on the other hand once it goes out, you have to buy another

Your tv is malfunctioning, assuming you don't have some outrageous settings. I have an old crt, which I use as an alarm clock... looks normal.

Could be age. My CRT monitor has the same issue, as well as visual distortion across the screen due to bright-graphics. Suffice to say I'm currently afraid to turn on the monitor.

cycle through the video options on your remote, I had a 32" that had a "game mode" and I had to cycle to video 1 or 2 I can't remember, play with the remote a bit.
