    random M icrosoft word question

It is a stupid question but important. Is there a way to start the page numbers in word on page 3 or 4? I am writing a paper and I have a table of contents and a title page and I want the page numbering to start on page 3 of the document. Please help me out.

I don't know what version you have, but on mine it's:

    - Insert tab
    - Click on "Page Number" in "Header & Footer"
    - Click on "Format Page Numbers..."
    - Click on the "Start at:" radio button, then use the up/down controls or enter the number directly into the edit control to set the start page.

Re: random M icrosoft word question

What you need to do is split it into two sections, which will allow you to use different headers/footers for each section.

Default I think is that they're linked, so you then need to go to section 2 and unlink it from the previous section.

Then you can tell it to put in page numbers for section 2, and have it start numbering at page 3 or 4 or whatever.
