Best program out there to format HDD?

Just wondering. I need a complete/full wipe to start from scratch.

Unless you're worried about old data being recovered or something, you don't need a utility to do it. Windows/Mac/Linux installation discs all come with built-in options to format a partition prior to installing the operating system on it.

If you are worried about the data being recovered, try Eraser, it's listed in the apps/utilities thread in this section.

I use Dban Boot & Nuke

Good program, can wipe multiple times if set correctly.....just takes a long ass time.

yea if youre worried about old data, dban is the man. it will write 1s all of the hd, then 0s, then 1s and 0s, etc multiple times filling the hdd and etc (its not 100% apparently nothing is... http://blocksandfiles.com/article/5056 well i guess shredding it(was posted here, but i dont have that link) would be 100%>.>; ) but you can get damn close
