    Proto-Omega Gunpod Poppage

I searched the forums and was unable to find a post with any explanation on this matter, so I apologize to bring this up.

From what I can gather, the final drops that appear in the crate are directly proportional to the number of gun pods that are killed off omega. This evidence would be supported by the fact that my linkshell gets consistently shit drops off Omega. Out of about 10 runs we have seen 0 Bodies, 1 Legs, 2 Hands, 1 feet, and load of heads (Both hands dropped at the same time our last run).

The issue is that he just doesn't want to pop gun pods. We'll hold him at a semi-low % and he'll change forms but just refuse to pop a pod. My linkshell has the ability to hold him for the entire time limit... but on most runs this nets only one or two pods, usually just one. We'll pull him to about 50% and hold him there for 15 minutes, drop him to 30% and hold him for a bit longer, then kill him at the 5 minute mark. During the run we got two hands, he actually popped multiple pods at very low HP (5 and 20% I think) as after each pop we took a break from killing him to see if we could find another.

So my question to you- Is there anyway to get Omega to pop more pods or any strategy that will yield a greater amount of popping than the one we are using? Because if I see another double head drop I'm going to gouge my eyes out with the top of the Homam Head piece.

um...I was under the impression that it'll only pop 2 gunpods, and the Omega drops in the crate are random between any two of head hands legs and body (can be duplicates) and body is a random third drop.

You've just had shitty luck buddy, try bringing a thief lolol.

It's a move he does at random HP %s i think, it says "Proto-Omega readies Pod Ejection" when they spawn so i dont think there's anyway to farm pods while you're killing him, im pretty sure its 2 pods per Omega.

We've had good drops with pods and good drops without pods.

2 / Omega also seems accurate. If it were more, we'd farm them out to get more chips faster. :D

Omega can pop more than 2 pods... Don't know if multiples can be out at once, we just nuke em out... I have seen at least 6 on occasion throughout the fight... the typical strategy we follow is to sc/nuke it down to 25%, kite it while nuking to 5%, then hold for the remaining 20mins while kiting. Gunpod ejac is simply a random TP move from my experience.

As far as drops go... Nynja has that correct pretty much, except body can't be duplicated as far as I've ever seen...

body cant be duplicated cause its a Heart ya, the others are duplicated cause he has 2 parts of each "segment" you get, ex: hind leg

He can pop multiple gunpods, think the most we've seen is 6 (and got 3/4 chips from them for another run)

We usually take him down to about 10 percent and stall him there. Pod Ejection seems TP based (not positive though, if it is a tp move its rarer than others) but we have our blms throw stone1 and other weak spells on him at that point in case it is. Omega has a slight regen so you can hold him easily this way, then when 5 minutes are left just put the melees back on it and end it.

More gunpods =/= more drops, we've only seen 2 bodies ever and we've done every omega since our first two this way.

I thought he uses pop ejection soon after going to 2 leg mode.

We killed Omega Wednesday night with 1 Gunpod (didn't even leave four-legged mode until the low HP transformation to his final form) and got Body, Hands, and Feet.

We've killed it before with... 2 gunpods, I think it was, and got a double head.

What Nynja said is right, 2 (head/hands/legs/feet) guaranteed, sometimes 1, and only one, body.

Personally I think the gunpod ejection is a time based move after a certain HP% down. Omega seems to pop one just about every 5 mins. It might be time/tp, explaining why it might take 5m30s or so sometimes. The last Omega we did, I called nearly every pod ejection within a few seconds just from glancing at my clock. I believe he spawned 4 pods or so.

We took it down to 5% and just kited for 30m or so. Without doing any damage other then stopping his regen.

I don't believe the amount of gunpods killed affects the drops in any way shape or form. We killed 4-5 pods and got Hands/Feet. It is definately NOT 2 pods per Omega. It has nothing to do with going from 4legs to 2legs either. I basically watched for pods the entire fight and believe it to be a time based move during 2legs form. We dropped his HP very quickly and kited for awhile just farming pods.

As for drops, I believe it is andy 3 items. 2 of any combo of Head, Hands, Legs, Feet(2 of one can drop) and the Third is either Body or nothing. (Body cannot drop 2x from what I have seen)

I'm pretty sure Judai is right. It appears to be a garunteed drop of 2 of the non-heart pieces, and then a chance at the heart.

He always spawns a Pod when changing modes the first time (around 75% HP)
He spawns another one when changing modes again (around 25% HP)

From there, you just need to keep him at low HP and he can summon more with TP moves. Never bothered to check Time or other conditions, we just hold him for the time limit. Usually get 4-6 pods total this way.

There is only one guaranteed HP-based transformation, and that's when he goes to the semi-crouched two-legged form at 20-25%.

The other transformations seem to be somewhat time-based.

We killed him in under a game hour (2.4 min) on Wednesday, due to our black mages nuking the crap out of him, and the only transformation he did was the one mentioned above.

He did spit out a Gunpod at that point though, and it does seem like he always spits one out on the first transformation. Whether that's becase the first transformation is time-based or whether it's just lucky, I don't know.

He can definitely transform without spitting one out, but I don't know that I've personally ever seen him spit one out without a transformation.

He can do Pod Ejection when changing into 2leg form, but not when he changes to 4leg form.

When he gets to the final stage it becomes a TP move that he can use.

In my experience, this is what I've witnessed. I've actually never seen him change from 4 to 2 legs, and NOT spit out a pod.

So if you were to farm pods, you'd have to hold him at 20% or less? orz

We had a omega start to finnish.... stand up at the start and never went down for the entire fight (while farming pods etc) over the course of maybe 30-35mins? I guess it can glitch or something. Its only happened 1/6 times we've killed though.

So, its possible for three bodies to drop? 2x body (duplicate just like 2x head, hands or legs) then another body as a random third drop?

    Loot from omega crate is:
    coin x 5
    [hand, head, legs, feet]
    [hand, head, legs, feet]
    body x [0, 1]
