    Windows XP Performance Edition

This goes out to everyone, burn a copy of this Windows XP Performance Edition ASAP. It basically cuts out all of the bullshit extra programs and applications Microsoft or any major store you buy from throw in. My computer has probably quadrupled in speed, hell it only takes about 10 seconds to restart my PC now.

Edit: Those not too tech savvy or smart with burning images/iso's just download this program PowerISO:

    http://torrents.thepiratebay.org/424...10.TPB.torrent

Install the program and enter the serial using the keygen, when you finish downloading the Windows iso it should have a gold disc icon. Just double click it and it will open with PowerISO. Look for the burn button, set it as a CD and burn at the slowest speed possible. (x4)

Make sure to back up any data and when finished throw the CD in. Restart the computer, if it doesn't automatically prompt you to boot the Windows CD then restart the PC again and hit the key that will take you to bios, go to boot sequence, set it to boot from CD primary and Hard Disk as secondary. It should restart again and boot the Windows CD and take you to the setup. Be sure to select quick format on the Hard Drive, it will install it in about half an hour. There was one small error called iFun9.exe for some reason but just hit to ignore the error and it will finish installing with no problems.

This an official thing or a custom hack and slash to remove all the useless bits?

Can't seem to find much info on it.

Custom hack that works really well. I still own my original copies of Windows XP but they are just loaded with so much garbage I can't stand to format with those discs anymore.

I install winxp performance edition on all my pc's now. At the base install, it's only eating up 86mb of ram. But I can't stand the classic theme so I always put window xp's blue theme on. It's a great alternative to normal XP.

Only reason I don't like these "lite" versions of xp is because they can be modified/trojan'd. I've used a rehash similar to this one before and it was filled with garbage and viruses.

Has anyone confirmed this one is fully clean?

    might be safer
nLite - Deployment Tool for the bootable Unattended Windows installation

as always exercise caution regardless which / what you do

yes, I've always used nLite and works exactly the same way. Honestly if your worried about trojans and stuff its not really that hard to go through the process of making your own, and you get to pick/choose exactly what you want or don't want.

The program is designed in a way that it freaks out at you if you remove something XP needs to work and also relies on common sense (do you need a 56k modem driver, etc).

Is this safe to install? Can it be installed as a dual boot and will I need to get a different hard drive or partition to do it?

Okay, I installed it and I get it working but now after setting up the dual boot menu I get a NTLDR error when loading XP.

    exactly, and probably not clean

make your own with nlite and be happy, or just rip the crap out yourself after installing and put all your drivers in and whatever else, then use clonezilla and back up your hdd image to your NAS or whatever

Microsoft is only releasing new OEM serials for netbooks. I could be off, but I believe they have a cut down version.
