    Keybinds.

I never was good with shortcuts in my other computer games and pretty much use keybinds in WoW as they're setup in FFXI. Except that with the wasd controls and a hand on my mouse I normally only "easily" reach 1-5, so I only typically use 1-5 and shift/1-5. I need more, but I'm not really sure where I can get some more "easy access" keybinds. I'm not sure what I could really get used to pressing consistently. I'm thinking this will be for the new paladin taunt coming and my guild leader wishes me to be able to mark rather quickly, preferably quicker than marking things manually. What keybinds do you guys typically run with?

I use 1-= sometimes clicking the ones towards the end, and use:

    Shift+1234
    Shift+QWERASDXCV

On my old paladin I used to have fghjk for targets. My pinky is almost always on or next to the shift key, because of wsad and my PTT in vent is my G12 key (next to caps lock) so shift is easy to press.

don't be shy about rebinding a or d, since nobody should be keyboard turning. I bind (shift + ) t g b to short CDs that I use more than once per fight (e.g. shouts on warriors, trinkets, pots).

that plus (shift + 1-6) on my keyboard (I have big hands but my keyboard's split down the middle, being 'ergonomic') is PLENTY. For long-ass cooldowns that I don't need in combat or during emergencies, like bandages, mounts, ports. I just fade out a hidden actionbar on the right side of my screen and mouse over it when I need it visible.

I thought raid markings were specifically added to the keybindings menu a few patches back. I can't verify right now. If you want something faster I don't have a macro for that that's newer than 2007 so I don't think it'll work now.

There are alot of keyboard turners, and some of those people are in major guilds and/or are big time pvp'ers, so don't say something like nobody should be doing it.

Only reason I don't rebind a & s is for when im lazy and take one arm off my desk, or am watching tv while flying somewhere and need to turn slightly... sometimes in towns... basically randomly and sporadically in places that aren't pvp/instance related.

edit:: now that I think about it, I used to keyboard turn/strafe a lot when I had my paladin, did it through BT and sunwell. For just a slight turn to make sure things are hitting you from the front and not from anywhere else. Lotta clickers out there too. I can't see myself clicking more than I already do though(like 5 buttons), I don't know how people do nothing but click.

I also keep A and D bound to movement. I have my strafe keeps unbound so I need A and D to strafe a lot.

I personally find using control/shift + numbers very awkward (I like keeping my fingers on WASD most of the time) so I have avoided using those. I have stuff bound to F, G, Q, R, Z, X and C. I also use ~. I don't go above 7 for anything and I really only use 1-6.

F-1 and F-2 are depoison/decurse (I don't use these often). F-5 is ground mount and F-6 is flight form. F-7 to F-12 are marks - just having them bound makes them quick, don't really need them on a "main" key.

I use alt+1/2, past that feels awkward. On my hunter I'm out of keybindings, I need to buy a gaming mouse for more buttons.

    I use 1-6, Q, E, R, F, G, Shift Q, Shift E, Shift R, Shift F and Shift G. Just bound Ctrl R to my mount as well.

I could have bought an 11 pull and have 1000 gems left over, but all I got was this silly title.

My buttons are far too messed. My heals are bound G-L. Fear ward is Alt-E, Ctrl-E abolish disease. Dispel Magic Shift+1. Shackle Alt-Q. Mass Dispel Alt+1. T-O with Alt-U are my regular nukes/dots. Alt-Z land mount, Alt-X ground. Mouse main movement with A and D as strafe, S ans back. Rarely use W. Using other Alt buttons for trinkets/abilities. Click other no-so-often used abilities.

And my hands are still attached and in working condition.

Thing is, they could easily disable Alt+F4 so it doesn't kill WoW, that way people could use it for keybinds. So yeah, the guy who posted that thread has a valid point. It's lazy by Blizzard.

Heh, I'm one of the few who hope they don't get rid of ALT+F4 killing WoW. It's the quickest way to kill it sometimes when server is crashing or something and you can't go to the menu and hit exit game. CTRL ALT DEL takes fucking forever on Vista ultimate.

I don't understand keybinds and macros in wow. I don't see whats the need for them anyone wanna tell me what they are actually used for and some examples?

This is coming from someone who used to windower macro every piece of EQ for each individual spell and ability (Had a provoke gear swap too <,<)

Because clicking is terrible when you need to react fast.

well theres mainly only 5 abilities I need to use from what i've seen fast and those don't really have to be macroed. And I want to macro Righteous Defense to the person with hate but I feel like in instances and raid's later on the best way about it will be to just hit the number then the corresponding F key because it won't always be that same person. Maybe I just don't have enough important abilities yet as a 32 paladin though.

When you're 80 and have 2-3 bars of abilities then clicking is really bad. It's also funny watching keyboard turners in pvp, probably trying to click everything. Or a keyboard turning tank turning at 5mph to get a mob off the healer.

Is it just a matter of mouse sensitivity to be a good mouse turner then? I find it annoying that to turn "fast" I have to turn a full quarter in either direction which often overshoots what I'm aiming for, or if I want to turn halfway around it's actually a bit dizzying as the camera rights itself twice in quick succession.

Do people bind jump to their mouse too?

There's a reason why mouselook users always slaughtered keyboarders at doom.

Personally I've gone to my quake bindings: rdfg for fwd/back/leftstrafe/rightstrafe, mouse-look on left mouse, character-turn on right mouse.

I just wish there was a better way to pick targets than clicking on nameplates D: tabbing through targets is way too sketchy in WoW to be reliable.
