    Punch-Out!! (Wii)

Has anyone else picked this game up yet? I've totally immersed myself in it the past couple of days... it's a lot like the NES Punch-Out!! with some features from the SNES version as well...

    The line up is:

    Code:
    Minor Circuit
    Ch. King Hippo
    #1 Disco Kid
    #2 Von Kaiser
    #3 Glass Joe

    Major Circuit
    Ch. Don Flamenco
    #1 Great Tiger
    #2 Bear Hugger
    #3 Piston Hondo

    World Circuit
    Ch. Mr. Sandman
    #1 Super Macho Man
    #2 Bald Bull
    #3 Soda Popinski
    #4 Aran Ryan
The game is pretty easy up until Great Tiger, who (once again) is a huge pain in the ass. Most of the fights in the world circuit are very hard, at least until you get the timing down.

After beating Mr. Sandman, you get "challenged" by all the boxers you've defeated in the past, starting with Glass Joe. They all have new twists this time around - for example Glass Joe wears headgear, King Hippo has a manhole cover taped to his gut....

The developers did an awesome job with the game - giving old characters new life, and making some really cool references to the NES version.

Yeah, the tutorial/slideshows don't work too well, but everything else does!

I agree that it needs multiplayer, but it's the Wii. I guess if you want games with wifi, torrent some Wiiware games.

I spent a few hours one afternoon this week beating all of the boxers in the initial circuit and it was a blast. Great Tiger, Aaron Ryan, Super Macho Man, and Sandman gave us the most trouble. At one point I had Macho Man with two knockdowns with 1:55 to go in the 2nd round without getting knockdowned myself. He proceded to beat me senseless and TKO'd me.

I really don't think there would be a good way to make an online mode that catch more than 20 minutes of your attention. They DID make a local multiplayer, but really it's the single player that matters for Punch-Out!!

Cleared Title Defense World A this morning. I was thinking to myself, "Oh hey, I know how TD King Hippo works, this fight will be easy!" Then I lost like 4 times in a row. Should have used training mode. My first TD loss...

His "hug" move is nasty. If you dodge the first part wrong and get hit, you can't dodge the second part. And you can just about only survive getting hit by both bits if you're at full health. Funny bit getting knocked down by it, getting back up, dodging it wrong again and getting knocked down a second time. That fight had been going so well, too.

Bear Hugger's bear hug move is getting to me. I am not sure how to avoid it...

After he says "Need a hug?", duck. Also, you can use a hook to counter it and get a star. I think you need to use a hook on the side that he has picked up his foot in order for it to work, although it might work on either side.
