@Insane, ugh I hate that also, there was an intricate post over on L4D's forums that some guy made about Hunter + Survivor hit boxes and apparently a "downed" survivor's hit box is the same size as a standing ones, so there are a lot of problems with the hit boxes which is why it is hard to hit/not hit someone sometimes.
