    Buying new PC

Money shouldn't be too much of an issue,
but question is if it's still worth the best of some stuff.
One requirement I have is fast loading times when:
starting computer, zoning in FFXI, while running several programs at once, and have Photoshop start within 5sec =x

    CPU: Intel i7 920
    Mobo: Asus P6T Deluxe V2
    Graphics: GTX295 (1 or 2?)
SSD: Intel X25-E 64GB x2-3 (Need to be Single Layer)(1x for windows)(1-2x for programs)
    HDD: 10k-15k rpm 500GB~1TB
Memory: DDR3 (don't know mhz limit)(would like to use XDR2)

I will use this computer for web design and ffxi + ffxiv.
Do you have any suggestions for me?

295 will run any current games crysis and what not at 40~+ fps So no, you really would not need 2 295's... (not to mention thats 1 grand+ in video cards to begin with)

I highly doubt ff14 will need a stronger video card than the current gen games (as they would have very little player base with computers compatible) however seeing as ffxi runs like crap, and even a 285 cant seem to get max frames all the time I could be surprised.

I've read that ffxi runs more on the CPU than the graphics card, would it be worth to get the latest intel i7?
    i7-975 Extreme Edition.

And how do you expect requirements will be with ffxiv + expansions. including stuff like windower / .dat swaps to improve graphics.

Yes, FFXI is more reliant on the CPU than the graphic card because of the way it's coded and its age, but still a decent card will take the graphics load off the CPU and allow it to concentrate on tasks that the GPU isn't designed to handle. Your internet connection also plays a key role, of course.

Just about any modern dual-core processor coupled with other good components will be able to max out FFXI. Faster processors will handle it better, as will newer processors built with newer & more efficient designs that allow them to work faster at a lower clock speed. So yes, in a way the i7-975 is the best you can get. However, the 920 is just as capable as the 975 and can reach the same speeds as the 975 easily by overclocking, for about 1/4th the price. The advantage you get with the 975 is an unlocked multiplier which allows for much easier overclocking (without having to change your bus or memory speeds).

There is a pretty decent combo going on currently with 2 of the parts you said, and some dominator dd3 1600 ram.... the discount on the combo basically takes $100 off the total price, which would make the ram cost about $79.00 instead of $179, something to keep in mind. Also i'd always recommend checking for combo deals on newegg when buying mass parts for your pc. Here are a few of the current combo deals:

Is there something that makes that much of a difference over onboard sound these days? All I ever use is my Sennheiser headset for vent and stuff anyways. :3

well, when I changed my onboard sound with the Creative X-treme gamer (dont remember the name) I could notice the difference over my speakers, the sound became more "clear". I really dont know how to describe it.

Also, if you ever want to plug in (in my case) 6 speakers and a base I couldnt do it on my MOBO's soundcard.

Either way, I'm just suggesting since you have no money restrictions

Well most of the mother boards I've looked at all have 7.1 sound and it's not like I have a Jamo System or similar. Lately I've found myself playing without any sound at all. I do however like to do salvage without sound effects and just the music turned up really loud =)
Is there are motherboard you can get that can have several processors on it? and how do that improve performance? or will it not work with our current o/s?

Not to sound like a dick at all... but seriously consider the following:

If your current machine is capable of 'most' of what you're looking for and you're even talking about FFXIV requirements then just stop and wait.

I don't want to turn this thread into a SE sucks with release date info, but the game will most likely not even be in beta for another year or more. New revisions of computer hardware will come out superior to what is available today, and/or the prices of components will drop significantly in a year or two (or three... look at how often MMO's are released on schedule... almost NEVER).

If you're buying for web design fine (although you're still overkill, but that's alright)... if you're buying for ffxi (then save yourself $ and build a dual core with 4850/70 for $800-$900)... if you're building for the future and ffxiv then just hold out until you have pre-order/open-beta keys/etc.

Well I trust that Square-Enix will deliver ffxiv on time, so I'm looking forward to the release next year. And if I'm lucky I will be able to join the beta that should be out by start of next year if we are lucky haha.

Anyways I need a new Stationary PC as this one will be put to other use.
I do have a laptop so that's just for to show clients completed works, and play ffxi when I'm not at home. (who needs drugs to get addicted?)

And as I said in first post, money shouldn't be an issue.
Question is just how much I waste during my vacation over the next 4 weeks.

Oh btw I will use Windows 7, 64 bit if you see any issues with that.

A third party sound card is almost a luxury these days, since most motherboards include some kind of decent built-in sound processor. If you're an audiophile, musician or DJ you will want to get one though because it can handle the added input/output channels, full digital 7.1, hookups for high-end A/V equipment or instruments, specialized software, etc..

Ahhh, damnit! >< I totally forgot about 4th of July sales. :/ I already bought most of my PC (Mobo, Video Card, Processor, Harddrive, Case, Monitor) and only have my CD/DVD ROM drive and PSU left to buy. :/ They need to do a 10% off on all Power Supplies. That'd be awesome.
