Intriguing Authenticator Question

So today I got to talking with a friend of mine on vent, about the Blizzard authenticator. They are sold out, as usual (so I've heard) but I went to the page and I noticed, they are exactly the same thing that SE uses, just a bit more decorated.

So that got me and my friend to talking, what if the SE token would work with a WoW account, and vice versa? You simply go to your account management and put the serial number in, would you not?

Has anyone heard of this working, or would anyone think that it might? Really curious about this, it's intriguing to say the least.

It would be pretty careless of Vasco and Digipass to do such a thing with their massive client base. If it works I'd report it to them asap.

? I don't understand why it would be careless, isn't there an Iphone authenticator that works with WoW? iono why it's wrong for it to cross over.


Also lemme know too, I heard that they aren't making the WoW one anymore (any know if this is true or not?) If that's the case, this'd be a good alternative.

I tested this with my SE authenticator, and the battle.net error I got was "Invalid Serial Number" on my SE token.

Blizzard is NOT discontinuing the authenticators. It saves them far too much time with compromised accounts, trust me. Blizzard would be super happy if every single customer had one. It's why they sell them at cost on the website.

well I know there is some issues with people being able to order them. check out ebay. People are buying them up and selling them for 40$ each.

Either bliz got fed up, or hopefully they're trying to think of a way to fix that.

Registered token, but if it works the same way as the Blizzard token, you can use it with multiple accounts.

Agreed. $40 is too much for me to cough up right now, and just so I don't get haxed.
