How long to adjust to new glasses?

So I just got glasses again, had them about 10 years ago. Turns out I have a astigmatism or whatever it is, in both eyes. Anyways, my glasses make stuff look all weird, like my laptop and my PC monitor are trapezoids instead of rectangles. Also things like the counter top looking like it was slanted downwards ect.

Just wondering if anyone else has had to deal with this, and how long it should take to get used to it.

It took me about a week or so to not have stuff look slanted when I had to wear only glasses. One thing that never changed was how everything looked a bit smaller compared to contacts.

Depends how big the change is for your eyes. I have astigmatism but I've also had glasses since age 6 for just being plain nearsighted, whenever I get new glasses (about every 2 years) it takes anything from one day to a week to get used to them. How you described it is exactly how it is... the whole world looks a bit like funny mirrors at the fair. Try let your eyes rest and recover as much as possible and avoid doing things that from your eyes' point of view are really monotonous (like staring at a TV/PC screen for long periods or doing any precision work). If you have to work on PC for example, take lots of breaks and try look at objects really far away or really close by in turns, think of it like adjusting the focus on a camera lens, your eyes are doing a similar thing and they need to resharpen themselves.

I'm sure the script being special for astigmatisms make the lenses different but you'll probably have headaches on and off for a few days until your eyes adjust. If it's really bad and your vision has changed drastically and not for the better you may want to have the lenses checked. At Lenscrafters they have you try on the lenses there to verify if they are correct. Dunno where you got your pair but you may want to go back and have them check the script and the lenses.

I have to get new glasses every other year or so. It usually takes me 3-5 days to get used to them.

I got them at America's Best. They told me that it would be like this, apparently my astigmatism is like a 250 or something, not really sure what that means.

Yeah I wish I could give you an experience but I've only ever had normal lenses. Best bet is if in a couple of days it doesnt clear up and stop giving you headaches to go back and have the lenses checked.

I myself just got new glasses and have been using the old pair for nearly 10 years, it took me about a week to fully adjust to them, however I noticed a few problems with them.

They were angled slightly everywhere but the direct center, so when I looked anywhere but straight, it was less clear, I also started to see blue and yellow trim on everything in bright light situations (pretty much everywhere), so that made things even worse.

I brought them back and theyre remaking me new ones for me (for free), so hopefully thatll fix the problem. If youre not happy with your glasses bring them back and make them double check.

Like everyone else says, it should only take a few days. I remember when I first got my contacts, everything looked HUGE to me. Those took about a week to adjust to, but my glasses only took like 2 or 3 days.

Everything is getting straighter now, this is only my 2nd day so I think they are going to work out just fine, thanks for the input.

Oh, you might want to be careful when using your glasses with any type of LCD screen. You'll have to find a good sitting distance, otherwise its going to feel like someone is crushing your eyeballs.

My glasses are mainly for being nearsighted, so don't even need them for using a PC or anything I am right in front of. Other than that though I wear them all the time just because being able to make out details and live in a HD world is so much nicer than living in a 480i world.
